I was embroiled in a dispute with my landlord, the Irvine Company, that involved me needing to temporarily vacate my rental unit. I sought counsel from another local law practitioner, but they referred me to Sara. After doing extensive research into finding a lawyer to represent me, I was happy to find Sara. In my search, I realized that there aren't many well-reviewed housing attorneys in or around the Orange County area that will take on matters for tenants. Many housing attorneys seem geared to serve landlords as clients, which makes sense since they are generally well-resourced and can be repeat clients instead of tenants (who are less likely to frequently use legal services). That is why I am grateful that Sara agreed to work with me after hearing me out during the consultation call. Together, we achieved the results I wanted. Sara communicated my concerns and requests to the Irvine Company's counsel in a timely and professional fashion. I believe having her represent me also added gravitas to my position since the Irvine Company was more agreeable to negotiating with me once I brought Sara onboard. Sara was also very respectful, professional, proactive, and helpful during the course of her time representing me. There were some small hiccups early on (e.g. Sara mistakenly communicating my concerns to an incorrect email recipient, some minor grammatical errors in the retainer agreement) that alarmed me, but the quality of her service improved quickly over time and allayed my concerns. I recommend her as a trustworthy attorney to represent you. I also wanted to nuance a previous reviewer's point regarding Sara's billing rate. Although I am currently a law student, this is my first time seeking a legal service of this nature. That said, first-time clients of legal services may have "sticker shock" when seeing that an attorney is charging a seemingly high rate for what seems to be relatively straightforward task to do. But, it's normal for attorneys to charge the same billable hour rate for whatever task they engage in. Sara is also a self-practitioner and her rate, I believe, is reasonable for someone who has to pay for her own overhead by herself. My advice for fiscally conscious people is to communicate any concerns like this with Sara early on, and explore ways together on where you could potentially save money on by, perhaps, doing certain things on your own. But, Sara provides full-service representation so, if you are uncertain about what to do exactly, she will take care of you from start to finish. read more

My brief telephone conversation with Sarah was the single worst phone consult I've experienced with an attorney. From the very first sentence she was compassionless and unsympathetic, even condescending. During the brief 5 mins time she allotted to me, at times she expected me to know about procedures and protocols that a lay person with no academic legal know-how can't possibly know, then expressing exasperation with my lack of familiarity. She ended up hanging up on me as i struggled to squeeze out one last question, pertaining to a matter that is obviously very important to me. She DID wish me "the best of luck" as she spoke over me, totally unconcerned that I might still have relevant questions that require her expertise, as she cut me off mid-sentence and hung up on me...so that's...something. Oh, and she told me she charges $5000, not bothering to elaborate on what kind of services she would render for that amount, but rather using it to segue into a smug condescending remark assuming that my being in the situation I am, I couldn't possibly afford her services anyways. Guess what Sarah, I wouldn't hire you if YOU paid ME that sum, you are cruel and really need to reexamine your bedside manner. PS - Your advice was so wrong and uninformed that I'm shocked you passed the bar. With all the info I gave you, it didn't dawn on you to advise me that I can file an ex parte stay at the courthouse? Instead you're telling me to contact the attorneys of the other party and beg them for clemency, that I'm basically SOL if they don't decide to take pity on me and I ought to start packing? You didn't know about AB 2179? Or you didn't bother to tell me? With how counterproductive your "professional" advice was, I would be shocked to discover that you don't argue your client's traffic infractions into felonies on a regular basis. Our first and only meeting in person, I walked away feeling very confident I hired someone young and up to date in her profession. Turned out I am very disappointed by her representation. It is apparent she doesn't deal with prenups, which she stated she does at our first meeting and seems new to her profession I found along the way. I won't go into detail, as the list is long. The last email I sent her, she once again forwarded to the opposing party, yes, forwarded my full email, when I previously expressed my concerns and asked her not to, as she did previously. I had to reach out to a friend who has her own family law practice in another town, which I originally didn't do as we didn't want friends involved in our personal business. Thankfully, she read through the prenup that the opposing party drew, in detail and did her job the first time, expressing several concerns and answered my concerns in detail. Every email to Sara she responded back, asking me to email her how I would like certain areas worded, that I didn't agree with and "that it needs to be what I am comfortable with" or "that sounds fair. Well no kidding, but this isn't my profession, that is why I seeked her to have my back. First clue should have been her price was significantly lower than other firms I contacted. In this case, the saying "you get what you pay for" is evident! Prior to hiring my friend, my now husband asked his attorney if he would sit down with both my husband and I to try to answer questions I didn't quite understand.
