Zona Romantica is a lively blend of culture, leisure and vibrancy. From the trendy nightlife, to the authentic as well as fresh flare eats Z.R. is the it neighborhood of P.V. Also known as Old Vallarta (Viejo Vallarta) you can take in the colorful landscape, gorgeous sunsets, cobblestone roads and discover Puerto Vallarta from all heights. From the street vendors and street fairs to lavish event weekends and/or getaways Zona has it all. Walking the streets is like nothing else with everything you could need or want just around the corner. During my first visit here we enjoyed many great restaurants, beverages, views, laughs and entertainment. The LGBTQ+ seen is above and beyond incredible in this all welcome slice of bliss. Jalisco's Romantic Zone is a place none should miss. Dancing to a great band doing all the coolest covers in the local amphitheater /square at Lázaro Cárdenas Park during the Olas Altas Saturday Market #DancingQueen was what it's Abba about jajajaja :D This beautiful place with beautiful locals and people from all over the world is one that you won't want to miss out on with your choice of great resorts, condo rentals, Air bnb's, hostels, hotels and more. Art galleries, street performers, living art, souvenir shops, taco spots, clothing shops, all the farmacias (many 24 hours) and all the Oxxo (convenience store equivalent to 7-Eleven, WaWa, Buc-ee's, QuickChek, Quick Trip, Circle K and ampm to name a few). There's something to do every day and places to explore in a variety of ways. I absolutely had a 20 to 30k walk day most of the time and it felt great, also naps are your friend, especially to recharge and keep enjoying you visit or residential stay in beautiful blissful Zona Romantica, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Q Tips: Solicitors and sellers are in abundance, "No, lo siento" and "No, gracias" were my top used phrases over our four days. Some resorts are adults only, but P.V. is very much family friendly. All inclusive deals offer so many great things, but do limit your full experience for branching out as much especially if you're with a significant other or group. For cigar enthusiast El Gato Gordo and La Casa del Habano are two of the only places you can purchase authentic cuban cigars. Don't rent a car, it's not necessary at all [extremely accessible by foot, cycle, stroller, wheelchair (in some parts)] + limited places to park and not your typical place to drive - a taxi, shuttle or rideshare can get you to and from the airport and places with ease.

Beautiful "old town" area of Puerto Vallarta. Here you can find colorful flags adorning cobblestone streets, street markets, vendors selling a variety of souvenirs + handicrafts, and a nice selection of nice restaurants + cafes. The beaches in this area are beautiful and popular with tourists and locals alike. Very inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly. Really lovely area to explore.

Such a fun and vibrant area that's a staples for Puerto Vallarta. The bustling of shops, restaurants and color palette brings everyone together. Very friendly to tourists and the beach is minutes walks from the main city center. Pop into one of the many restaurants/bars for a drink. Very good margaritas at majority of the place. The beach, it has a nice walkway with restaurants on one side and beach lounges and tables along the waterfront. Fun afternoon for a meal or a lazy day just lounging at the beach. Whatever restaurant you choose, there's also something good on the menu. If you decide on the beach front, it is a tourist trap so prices tend to be more. You have all the mom and pops restaurant throughout the city with amazing tacos. Bar all over the city so it's a fun and lively part of town. It's about half an hour or so from the airport depending on traffic. Do wear comfortable shoes and majority of the roads are cobblestone. You'll find yourself having fun all day everyday....

Zona Romantica, also called old town, the southside and Colonia Emilano Zapata is the favorite destination for expats, tourists and locals. Old Town has the largest concentration of restaurants and bars from street food to high end restaurants with ocean views like Azui Bistro. There is an international selection of cuisine to choose from which includes Japanese, Mediterranean, Cuban, German, etc.. The area is colorful and tree lined featuring boutiques, jewelry stores and other unique shops. Mercado Isla Rio Cuale is the local flea market. It is a large market with a wide variety of goods including souvenirs. There is also a diversity of housing options ranging from a few hostels, budget hotels, boutique hotels, rental condos and B &B's. The vibrant colors, flower boxes, cobblestone streets, and architecture create a bright and cheerful ambiance. Los Muertos Beach to the west of Zona Romantica has white sands, low wave heights and cool waters. During high season (Nov-April) it can get quite crowded. One of the highlights is the Los Muertos Pier which lights up in the evening in green, red, blue and yellow lights.

Whats wrong with me ! I took hundreds of pic's while walking around, and then did not think to save and post ! OMG ! Anyways, we just got back from trip # 8. Even though the Code Red was on, we still had a blast. We stay at a private condo, V399, right in the heart of the Village. I can't say enough about being in the center of the action. Like Times Square, or the West End of Vancouver, its all happening at the Zoo. I love the charm. The variety. The people. The shops. The ambiance. The flowers. The public art everywhere. The cafe's. The Bars. The Theater's. I could go on and on..... Its just got it all. And no need for a car , you can walk everywhere in 20 min. BEST part, the fresh Fruit and Veggie Markets !!!!! I love the butcher shops too. Best meat I ever bought and cooked. We highly recommend you stay in the Old part of Town. And check everything out, by going for big walks everyday. I think you will be impressed. BUT, watch where you walk. Its Mexico after all !!!!!!!

Vallarta Shore Excursions - Our tour guide Antonio talking more about politics than the cities history

    Vallarta Shore Excursions

We booked an Excursion through our Cruise and it was Operated by VALLARTA SHORE EXCURSION…read more This will be a 2 part review: 1. The Tour itself (sites, stops, food, entertainment...etc) 2. The Tour Guide Bus Driver: Brandon Tour Guide: Antonio Once we got off the cruise ship we had an easy time finding where we had to muster for our tour...and we met our tour guide: Antonio once on the bus, the people in the back had a difficult time hearing Antonio (wish he was able to speak through a speaker if some sort)...which later we would realize it wasn't any better off the bus, it was difficult hearing him outside around the bustling of the City streets. At our first stop we were getting off the bus Antonio would just walk off while persons with disabilities or people with kids got left behind...Thank goodness the other tourists in our group helped keep our group together. It would have been nice if Antonio had waited for the last of the people and/or had a flag that was noticeable (he didn't have or do either) Great photo ops with famous landmarks like the Puerto Vallarta Sign (but you have to compete with other tourist), street performers, street artist, musicians. Afterwards, we got back on the bus to head towards our next stop to get some Margaritas...but get this...the margaritas were served inside a jewelry shop in the back while competing with already a packed jewelry store and navigating though and with pushy salespeople...that was off putting to say the least. We spent a ridiculous amount of time in the jewelry store. Afterwards, we got back on the bus...and Antonio told the bus driver we were good to go, but a number of tourists in our group was like hold up we're missing people...we literally almost left 4 people behind. Antonio (Our Guide) DID NOT do a head count! It were the people in the bus watching out for each other...it was the excursion goers who realized people from our group were missing! After finding the rest of the people (the missing 4) we headed towards a Tequila distillery (aka The Ranch) to learn more about Tequila, Tequila making, and sampling tequilas (3 of the common tequilas and 3 flavored Tequilas: Peach, Almond and Coffee) I had never had flavored Tequilas...they were so good we had to purchase a sample pack of all 3 flavors. After our tequila tasting, nobody could find out your guide...eventually, someone found him eating by himself...and he was like oh yeah, get in line and get some food! The food was imho meh, good enough to eat but nothing to rave about. We had beans, Ensalada de Napales (a bit slimy compared to other napales I've had), Pollo con Mole, Arroz, Quesadillas... While eating we got to watch friendly competition games amongst multiple tourists, the kids got to swing at a piñata, watch traditional Mexican dancers, and a cowboy on a dancing horse. Just like most tours, tips are not necessary but highly appreciated, bring cash for tipping. Overall, the things we did like the Site seeing were highlights but the tour could have been better (possibly) if we had a different tour guide... But honestly, almost leaving 4 tourists behind...was a WOW moment...inexcusable! And the Margarita inside the jewelry store...with no warning was tacky! We spent a lot of time in that jewelry store then we needed to. This Overall Tour could have gotten a higher rating review (4-4.5) if we had a different (better) tour guide.
