    Very busy nearby

What a hoot! There were ladies jumping off the pier into the ocean. One had the most stupendous belly flop I have seen in recent years. If you are a tourist in the Puerto Vallarta area, this is a must see spot. Seriously, it is written in just about every visitor's guide, magazine and app you can find. And it's not just the pier. Boaters await by dozen to take you to sea for fishing, swimming, jetting, snorkeling, exploring -- whatever you like. They either sit on the pier near their boats, or walk along the pier enticing you with seaward stories. Didn't take anyone up on the offer, though. The beach nearby is stacked with people and dogs -- and lots of vendors selling tacos, food on a stick and clothing items. It is quite the vibrant area.

Instead of constructing a traditional all-wooden pier, they've upped the design bar by adding a modern art piece to the old section of Vallarta, which serves both locals and visitors alike. THE PIER: A 328-foot wood, steel & concrete foot bridge gently bends out toward the white steel structure which is reminiscent of a boat's sail. One side of the cylindrical tower is open, while a wire mesh skin twists up the other end. A 360° bench seat is set in the middle. It offers great views of Vallarta's coast. At the end is a lower, wooden pier that serves water taxis and other ocean activities. At night it's lit in hues of sky blue, pink, and purple. OVERALL: A free and cool area to see on your walk along the Malecon!

This is the pier where you take the water taxis to Yalapa. The ticket booths are at the base of the pier. All the water taxis are the same price. However, once you get on a water taxi, they write the name of your boat on the back of your ticket. For the return trip, you are limited to that boat (for capacity control purposes).

This modern pier replaces an old wood pier (the one from Night of the Iguana). its a great place to catch a boat (water taxis to all over), to look back to the city, watch waves, see the sunset or to watch the fireworks! really its just a nice place. The area it is in has lots of places to eat, many with views. OH! and the pier lights up at night!

We took a water taxi off the pier and it went well. Nice little area with plenty of places to eat some quality food and do some shopping.

We ventured…read moreout to La Capella the other night, and honestly, it wasn't just a meal; it was an entire experience, fantastic from the moment we arrived until we reluctantly left. First things first, the setting is straight out of a postcard. Picture this: you're perched high up, gazing out at this unbelievably beautiful, sparkling blue sea, with an old, quaint church adding character to the horizon. It's truly a dreamscape, especially as the sun begins its descent, painting the sky with the most incredible colors. Seriously, it's the kind of view that makes your jaw drop and your worries melt away. Pure, unadulterated magic! Our evening was made even more special by our fantastic waiter, Jarod. What a star! He was genuinely charming and incredibly attentive, always there right when we needed him without being intrusive. He kept everything running smoothly, offered great suggestions, and truly made us feel like royalty. His warmth and efficiency really elevated the whole vibe of the night. And then, the food... oh my goodness, the food! It was nothing short of culinary perfection. I couldn't resist ordering my beloved pork osso bucco again - it's become my absolute favorite there, and for good reason! It arrived unbelievably tender, practically melting in your mouth, and every bite was an explosion of rich, delectable flavors. Just as phenomenal as I remembered, if not better! Honestly, every single dish that graced our table was impeccably prepared and utterly delicious. Seriously, if you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, you *must* put La Capella on your list. And here's my golden nugget of advice: make sure to grab an early reservation. Trust me, you absolutely do not want to miss that breathtaking sunset; it transforms an amazing dinner into an absolutely legendary one. Go on, treat yourself - you won't it.

I made reservations a few weeks in advance and we were able to sit on the terrace to enjoy the views. They had live violinists (three!!) that were playing, it was so romantic. I loved the violinists, they were all so nice and friendly. I got the guava martini which was good and I ordered the spageti bolognese, which was tender and flavorful. The dish was solid with a nice presentation. They also brought out complimentary olive bread with parmesan grated cheese which was really good. The food and drinks are pricey! For the 4 of us including drinks and dinner, it ended up being almost $70 per person. Service was just okay, our waiter was a little stern and we had to flag to get his attention a few times. I would definitely come here for a special occasion, for the beautiful view and ambience.

Of course the staff did it up in style with flickering lights and what sounded like fireworks . Which in turn scared the living daylights out of me. I was ready to run out of there (this happened after a earthquake scare a few hours earlier ). Those guys came over of course when I realized what was actually happening happening I was in tears laughing so hard. Those guys were so sweet we all had a great laugh about it. I will forever be known as the lady at table 5. Or the crazy lady at table 5. Love this place so much!!!!

BEWARE FOOD POISONING!…read more Walked over here for dinner because this place is constantly recommended by people in the neighborhood. All the seating is outside, which is fine. I noticed right away that the kitchen is tiny. It made me wonder how they manage to put out so much food. Service was standard. Nothing to complain about while we were sitting there, but the aftermath was a disaster. My partner and I both got extremely sick a few hours after leaving. It was pretty clearly food poisoning, likely salmonella based on the symptoms. It is very disappointing since so many people talk this place up. I will not be going back. Would really caution and avoid if older or immunocompromised.
