I guess it's clear this isn't a "card shop," it's a scalpers storefront. Don't go here looking for Lorcana--guessing the margins are too low. Except for their singles, which they sell for $2-4....crazy pricing for Lorcana. Anyways, i won't be back. Will have to continue my search for a card shop that's ethical and somewhat reasonable. --------- Edit in response to business reply: 1) i agree conversation could go a long way. But when your pricing on a brand new Pokémon set (which doesn't have a set market yet) is already 3x MSRP, what productive conversation can happen? It's just a straight up gouge. I'm not naive to expect to get everything at MSRP, but i think 3x markup 2 days post launch is unreasonable. 2) i did ask about Lorcana. I was told you "don't carry much" and "didn't have any right now." 3) you seem to be implying that you're aware prices are high and can then be negotiated lower. If that's how you want to do it that's your prerogative, just understand that's offputting for new customers. It's hard to want to establish a relationship and have a conversation when the first impression is being taken advantage of. And when your response to pricing questions is "well the hobby is thriving!" I don't think that's off base.

Based on what I saw their website is correct.  They also provide a space to play Magic: The Gathering, HeroClix, Warhammer: 40,000, and other countless games. My husband ended up purchasing the first volume of the Static Shock comic.  Keep in mind they don't come with the frame it is displayed in.  If you want one it would cost $10 but there were other options given to help protect it until we got home.  The owner was kind and made our visit worthwhile.  I can already anticipate my husband wanting to come back when we come back to Michigan City.

These guys had prints that I haven't been able to locate at other shops, and everything was extremely well organized. Books were in great condition, and the staff were so kind and helpful. Very much a "reader's" comic shop, but they have tables set up for your D&D game or Magic or really whatever your fancy is. First, their store credit policy makes no sense: you can't use it on "premium" items, which defeats the purpose of having store credit at all. On top of that, when I sold them some premium Magic: The Gathering cards, the prices I was given were for the wrong versions. Because I had my three kids with me at the time, I didn't notice until later, but it felt dishonest and not worth the argument. What bothered me most, though, was how they treated me as a newer customer. I stood waiting for about 15 minutes with my kids while staff ignored me to casually chat and eat with tournament patrons who weren't even doing business at the time. They had recognized me, but still dismissed me while I was clearly trying to complete a transaction. It made me feel like my time -- and my business -- weren't valued. Most of the staff were nice, but the older bald gentleman was rude and dismissive, which really stood out. Between the poor credit rules, the card pricing issue, and the way I was treated as a customer, I can't recommend Thunder Comics. If they want to encourage more sales and playtime in their store, they should focus more on being fair, welcoming, and attentive -- especially to new customers

That's where the good times stopped. For about 8 months I had a an account there and every time I went in the clerk struggled to even find my comics. Worse, EVERY month, there were several books missing from my order. I complained after a couple months but the poor service continued. I was given a new excuse though every month which didn't help. I also ordered things out of the monthly previews which never managed to show up. When I asked about it, I never did any kind of response.

We came on December 31st, thinking that since it was New Year's Eve, there might be a wait. Surprisingly, there wasn't. That part was fine. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. The store felt disorganized and in a state of disarray, and I noticed several food items with expired dates, which is definitely something shoppers shouldn't have to worry about. What really bothered me, though, was the restroom situation. Both restrooms were marked "out of order." When I asked about it--because two seniors in our group needed to use them--an employee told me they do that so people won't ask for the key. That's unacceptable on many levels and honestly left a bad impression. Overall, it's not a terrible store, but is it worth nearly a 50-minute drive? No, it's not. Maybe I'll stop by again in the summer if I need garden supplies--but for now, this trip wasn't worth the distance.
