My daughter and SIL are into these shops bc they collect cards, games, comics, etc. I know nothing about this life, but I tag along and get sent to many shops, such as this one, by her. She is an expert lol and she bought some stuff she was on the hunt for and she said this place is 5 stars. I liked it and am giving it 5 stars bc it was very clean and the staff that assisted us was nice and the parking was hella convenient. OWNER LACKS BUSINESS ETHICS. Listing had a BIN which I did, and paid immediately. They cancelled the order and said item would be re-listed as an auction. A sale is COMPLETE once payment is made, particularly when the item is still available! Seller is too experienced to make this type of mistake, and if this was an honest one, they should have accepted responsibility, not cancelled the PAID order. Never replied to my message! Item re-listed and sold the NEXT DAY for more money. Unscrupulous! I would never deal with this person again! read more

Go in ask for a comic and even though there are 3 other people working the girl says she has to answer the phone. She gets done, sits down and continues to do what she's doing. A couple problems with this place, first issue is the employees, some of them are not helpful and make you feel uncomfortable. I also came a long way too get some comic books on a Thursday @ 12:41 pm and they were closed, very frustrating, if they don't want business just close it down and make it a subway or something. read more

I was very excited about the Walking Dead variant cover #163. I cancelled my subscription with my previous comic store since Image said we could ONLY get the cover from the comic store. Went into The Tenth Planet the same day Image comics made the announcement to go and order the comic from the comic store. The clerk assured me my variant would be here, as I told him it was the ONLY reason I was changing comic stores in the first place. Walked in today and no variant. Spoke with the owner who gave me an "Sorry, I cant help you" and "We dont put variants aside" There was no apology, he was nonchalant, he didnt care that this was a special issue that I specifically came to HIS store for, he was so busy trying to get back to his board game that he dismissed my concern. There are no words to explain how livid I am about my very first experience with this store. Then he told me those comics are ordered months in advance when I told him I would have ordered the entire lot just to get my cover. I find that amusing and somewhat comical since there were plenty of people still ordering comics from their comic book store two weeks ago. You have lost my business, just when I was about to switch all my comics over ... I'll stay with Gram Cracker Comics, they have never failed me. Jim who works behind the counter is a living encyclopedia of comic knowledge and the owner Dan has always been very good to me. I like going to 10th planet. The guy who works the till is a little bit standoffish but he will help you if you ask and he even ordered me in special pink sleeves for my cards. They have a decent selection of comics, and just like Jeff said they have a ton of Statues. read more

I like comic book shops that know your face and your name. They're comfortable environments. This is no exception - the employees have been around for quite some time and know their shit, and even if you think they may seem surly they're really quite friendly if you talk to them. A pretty good selection of comics and cards with a willingness to order whatever it is you're looking for as long as it's available - you just have to ask. Also a pretty good selection of busts, figures, toys and random other bits. It's no Chicago Comics, but not many places in NWI have the kind of income that would allow them to carry such large stocks of comics (it's a lot easier to get business in a city than it is in a suburb like Schererville - though they do have a decent location that keeps business coming in pretty steadily). They also organize nights for gaming - though I only ever paid attention to Magic: the Gathering nights and touranments, which were always fun (and where I met more than a few of my long-term friends). Decent place to try to trade cards if you know what your cards are worth - and I reccomend that you DO know what they're worth, though that's a general rule. They also had a row of computers for online gaming here, but I'm not sure if they still do. I haven't had a chance to go back for a while since I've been living in the city and my car just recently died. I miss it here. It's like family or somethin'. Hell, I've been going here for 10 years now, they might as well be. There's not a better comic and card shop that I've found anywhere in the Region (that's Northwest Indiana for you city-folk). I have been coming here for what seems like forever. The people have all been really nice. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. They have a cool selection of comics, board and card games, collectables, miniatures to paint as well as areas to play games. I do not look like the typical gamer chick when I get off of work. I'm dressed in business wear. I came here to the location, same strip mall but has moved a few times. I was treated nicely not like an oddball because 1. I'm looking like someone that wouldn't be there normally and 2. I'm a girl. I didn't find what I was looking for but still bought a few things. I also have a friend that loves My Little Pony and the guy working there showed me around. I bought some fun stuff, including an energy drink with Rainbow Dash on it. A long time favorite in Northwest Indiana. Huge selection of new comics, a very solid selection of back issues and graphic novels. Favorable store hours and a knowledgeable staff. They host game nights and all that jazz as well. If there's a knock on this long running staple, it's the prices on back issues are often a little high. If you dig you can find a bargain or two. This is a shop with a GREAT selection but not always the most deal worthy prices. But they are easily the best shop in the area and I definitely recommend stopping in. read more

Love playing MTG here on Friday night! The people there are real friendly and really try to help you get better in the game. They'll give you tips while you play and make you think about your moves. I definitely recommend this store for people who are seriously interested in playing or starting MTG. read more

Tenth Planet has been around for ages now. I remember going there when I was a little kid in grade school to buy comics. They have a really good selection and usually have what you're looking for. Sometimes they don't order smaller publishers titles. But if you want a comic by DC or Marvel they'll have it. There trade paper back selection isn't that great. And they don't always order enough of lesser known comics so they sometimes run out. They also have the best selection of comic statues that I've seen. Also if you're into card games like MTG they carry those too. And they have tables to play at as well. read more

First off I have been going here for ages, ever since it opened in the strip mall. I always found everybody to be friendly who works there especially if you know what you are talking about or looking for. I really never had problems finding what I want here but if your looking for obscure indie comics then you would have to look somewhere else. Their shop was in one of the biggest spots in the strip mall but they moved to a smaller space which is fine because not as many comic book readers as there used to be plus I am sure the economic times have had their affect on the shop. So if your in the area I would definitely stop here for some reading. read more

I am a huge nerd for comics! Batman and Superman, Iron man and Captain America!!! So I am always looking for more stuff for my man cave, and I went here looking for a Superman Statue for my shelf and they had a nice selection. I found a Christoper Reeves statue and love it!!! They also had great comic collection and just fantastic!!! read more

So my 6 year old son and I went here the other day and being his first comic book store visit, surrounded by his favorite super heroes, he was ecstatic. I tried to calm him down with little success but the owner(I think) was very understanding and helpful. He recommended some beginner comics for him which was really appreciated. He also recommended Injustice: Gods Among Us, a graphic novel which I am now a fan. Overall excellent service, great selection! read more

The most legitimate looking comic store in the region. I admire them for that. I used to be a regular customer here until I tried to return a comic I purchased by mistake, and the owner implied I was trying to screw him over. I saw that as poor customer service. Unfortunately, I find most comic store owners are stingy in this way, so I've switched to online comics as they are more affordable and convenient. Sometimes, I stop by this store to browse and see what's new in the comic book world. I appreciate that they host game competitions for people who are into that. Lol I looked on here to make sure I hadn't posted a review long ago, because I sure should have. Like some of the others here, I've frequented Tenth Planet for many years. I have always found it to be one of the most consistently friendly comic shops. The people working the counter always are available to help you or, if not too busy, to just shoot the breeze about comics, figures, movies and TV, and so on. True, it's not a Super Wal-Mart of selection, but it does stock what most of what the mainstream (and yes, I appreciate the irony of using that word) comic-buying public is looking for. read more
