We found Orale' by chance while shopping in Paso Robles. We decided on a late lunch. My wife ordered the taquitos and I ordered the chili verde. We both had an agua fresca. Everything was delicious!!! My wife's taquitos were plump and piping hot. The rice and beans served with our meals were both pleasing and authentic. The agua frescas were good and homemade. Now, my chili verde....that was another story. It was fantastic, flavorful, tasty and spicy in a very good way. So delicious! Their bowl of albodigos soup is filled with small meatballs, carrots, zucchini, onions, and spinach. The flavor is perfect and it came with a serving of Spanish rice It's January and the soup was served piping hot which really warmed me up. Their tacos on Tuesdays are $1 off. This is my go to lunch spot every time I visit Paso. The food is delicious, filling, comes out quickly, and is reasonably priced. I've ordered a few different burritos from the menu and the enchiladas. My favorite burrito so far has been the surf and turf with shrimp and steak! You can also never go wrong with the chicken enchiladas. There is ample seating inside and out front, especially now with the parklets. Even without them though, there is a nice covered seating area outside. This spot has a great location in the center of downtown right across the street from the park. Plenty of parking in the area, though you may have a little walk if it's a busy afternoon. Pro-tip: if you have a long day of wine tasting ahead of you, the burrito saves very nicely and makes a great in-between winery snack if you don't finish the whole thing at lunch! read more

I was craving nachos and Orale Taqueria was one of the places in downtown Paso Robles that has nachos including sour cream and guacamole for under $10. If you wanted around the restaurants in the downtown area, you'll notice that the majority serve food options $15+, so if you want cheaper eats.. just know those are harder to come by. Nachos || $9 Chips topped with refried beans, grilled red bell peppers, grilled onions, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. The nachos were ok. Nothing too special - don't think this was worth the $9 price tag. Chips tasted a bit stale. Wish there was more cheese or at least a more even distribution of cheese between the chip layers. Taquitos || $10.50 Beef or chicken taquitos plate that comes with rice and beans. Comes with sour cream and guacamole. This dish was on the mediocre as well - good but not memorable. I ordered the fajitas, while a friend ordered the shrimp and fish tacos. The tacos came first, and looked very good. The inclusion of sliced avocado and a creamy sauce added to the eye appeal, and my friend enjoyed the dish. The fajitas came out heaped on a sizzling plate. The portion size was surprisingly large. The use of shrimp, chicken, steak, bell peppers and onions made for a very tasty medley that was also very filling. Other menu options included burritos and torts, rellenos and enchiladas, jarritos and horchata. Seeing dishes from other tables pass by, it looks like everything served at Orale is large and tasty. I picked this place over La Mexicana II per Luke's review. I was pleasantly surprised. His review was Spot On. The food was hot, fresh and very flavorful. The service was great. Each item came out as it was completed in the kitchen very hot n fresh. So their were three items ordered. First was the Street Taco for my mother-in-law. Second to come out was the Trio Fajitas for my wife. It came out on a sizzling planter with steam coming from it too. The flavor of all the meats including the shrimp was outstanding. This fajitas is some of the best I have tasted in a very long time. The third item was my cheese enchilada with a chicken flautas. Just like everything else it was hit and fresh. The flavor was also Outstanding on this plate too. The Flautas was one of the freshest I have ever had. This place is small but packs a Very Big Punch with their food. I came to Orale Taqueria on a Saturday evening around 7PM. This was my first time in downtown Paso and I wasn't sure about the parking situation, but they have spots lined up all around the area. It is free for the first 2 hours, woohoo! You just enter your license plate # into one of the parking station machines, pretty neat. I ordered a California burrito and a horchata and everything was delicious. The carne asada meat was SO tender, juicy, delicious, [add any other flattering adjective]. It really stood out to me and they don't skimp on their portions! The cheese was also melted perfectly throughout the burrito. The burrito was more than enough for one person. My horchata was also delish, hit the spot. My boyfriend ordered al pastor and carnitas tacos. He said the al pastor was better and they give you a lot of meat! They also gave us complimentary chips and salsa to snack on while waiting, their red salsa was my fav. There wasn't too many people on a Saturday evening actually. We decided to sit inside because it was spacious and no one else was dining in, but they have plenty of tables outdoors too. The restaurant was super clean which I appreciated. This place was small and there were quite a few people here inside and outside for dinner after 7pm on a Wednesday. Their menu was next to the counter so we were deciding what to order. This was the kind of restaurant where you order/pay first then they bring your food to you based on the number they gave you. The girl that helped me was super nice and helpful when I asked her questions about the menu. I ordered the El Trio Quesadilla ($10.95) and a soda ($2.50). My coworkers ordered the California Burrito, two enchiladas, and a fish taco. The food came out to us outside after a few minutes. The weather was great so that was why we sat outside. The El Trio Quesadilla was delicious but also very oily. I wasn't sure where the oil came from but it was either the carnitas, the grilled chicken, or carne asade which were the three meats in it. The size and portion was big so most people would be full after finishing it all. Orale was squarely OK. Hubby and I get regular cravings for Mexican food so when we've been without for a few days, we start itching. Cut to our weekend in Paso Robles, we sought out some Mexican food after hitting a few of the wineries and came here. I ordered the albondigas soup, a buche taco and an al pastor taco. Hubby ordered the three-item combo (taco, enchilada, chile relleno). He really enjoyed the beans but said everything else was adequate. My albondigas soup was quite flavorful but I didn't really enjoy the texture of the meatballs. The tacos were alright, too. The al pastor was slightly more enjoyable than the buche taco. I got somewhat more excited about the salsas. The red and orange/yellow ones were must more flavorful than the green one so we ended up mixing them. It's difficult to find quality Mexican food in SLO County, so it was exciting when we came across Órale Taqueria. The cashier was super friendly and gave us some recommendations, which she said the street tacos are the way to go (Carnitas is what they are known for). I wasn't very hungry but I decided to go with a carne asada and a carnitas street taco, which comes with cilantro and onion (salsas, limes and other garnishes are available to our own liking on the side). Chips were brought to our table with an array of salsas that we can choose from. The restaurant is brightly lit and in the heart of Downtown Paso so it's in a convenient location. After a (from everything that I recall, super delicious) visit a couple of years ago, my husband and I somehow managed to forget that Orale was an option. Totally our loss. After a family member reminded us of how great their al pastor is, we stopped by and were amazed that we hadn't been back earlier! My husband loved his El Trio quesadilla so much (best quesadilla he has ever had, and let's be honest-- it's tortilla, cheese, and maybe meat... even a "meh" quesadilla is pretty good) that he asked in astonishment "Why haven't we been back?! Was something wrong last time?" Nope. We were just apparently slow on the uptake with this one. No longer a problem-- we've gotten take out from this spot easily 3-4 times in the last few weeks. First of all, seems worth mentioning that their Covid precautions are on point-- staff is masked, super friendly (above and beyond-- the young woman who has helped me each time we've visited has long dark hair and a kick-ass manicure, and she is fantastic), and the restaurant is super clean/seems to be following all guidelines. Really appreciate their efforts to keep customers and staff safe. On to the food! Oh man, the PASTOR. There is so much flavor packed into this meat option. The al pastor taco combo is my favorite so far, although I have been exploring other avenues to get pastor to my face. The burrito was really yummy as well. Their salsas are fresh and flavorful, and I really appreciate that their staff isn't stingy with it-- they ask what varieties you'd like when you pick up your takeout order, and always humor me when I ask for all of the things. My husband's go-to, which as mentioned above he now says is his favorite quesadilla ever, is the El Trio Quesadilla. That sucker is MASSIVE, almost more like a flat burrito and loaded up with cheese, chicken, carne asada, and carnitas. Think there are some peppers and onions in there too. It comes with sour cream and guac, and just like the pastor dishes, it's mega flavorful.
