Wow, this is definitely one of the best restaurant I've ever visited...not just in Germany but in general. There's so many reasons as to why.
Justin and I were looking to grab dinner in Kaiserslautern. We first went to a place nearby that turned out to be a complete nightmare. But after leaving that place and visiting á Pollo, we quickly realize the previous experience was a blessing in disguise because it brought us HERE.
Walking up to the restaurant from a distance, I can already tell it was a small and intimate place. We were welcomed warmly immediately upon entering. We were seated and given the English menus right away. The beautiful and friendly server (family of this establishment) informed us that there will be music later and hope that it was okay (of course!).
The menu was simple and straightforward. We were both able to get our orders in quickly without any hesitation. I got the Rodeo Chicken with added side of corn and cola. Justin ordered the PoLLo Schlegel that comes with French fries. He also ordered a Cola Beer. We were asked about spice level preference on both chicken orders (mild, spicy, hot).
Rodeo Chicken (hot) - Sooooooo delicious. Easily one of the best chicken I have ever tasted. It was cooked to perfection (still piping hot with smoke escaping from every cut) with the meat being tender and juicy, but the outside skin very crisp and full of flavors. The hot was definitely not hot. In my opinion, it just added a hint of spice for extra flavor enhancement. The entrée came with two very different dips. The bourbon coke sauce which wasn't my personal favorite because I don't like the taste of alcohol of any kind. Then there was a thicker apricot jam which was delicious in every way and really complimented the chicken.
Corn - On the cob. Every kernel looks golden and glowing in perfection. It tasted every bit as good as it looked.
PoLLo Schlegel - Came with 2 pieces of chicken legs. Amazing flavors and texture. They really know how to cook chicken!
French fries - I never have high expectations for fries at any sit down restaurants, but these ones really blew me away. The thin cut fries were crisp and buttery. They're salted PERFECTLY and made an excellent side dish.
Cola beer - Definitely on the sweeter side hence the fact that it has actual cola in it. A very interesting taste in a good way.
During our meal, the music our server told us about from the beginning came to be when someone set up a mini dance floor with loud music playing for guests to dance at and have a great time. It was so much fun! This place creates such a friendly atmosphere by the warm and welcoming staff along with the guests they attract. I know everyone there had a great time just like anyone else who pays them a visit would.
If you're ever in this part of town (even if you're not, but close enough), stop by and pay them a visit. They are worth it! Great food at reasonable prices with amazing folks. I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. read more
