It cost $30, which isn't cheap but fair for professional service on a nice watch. He noticed that my gasket was busted and warned me to be careful with water, and he's doing the research to source a replacement part and will text me when it's ready. When you drop off a watch and in detail write on the receipt what's what, you can NOT all of a sudden when picking up add additional fees and say what was written on receipt is insignificant even if it says for another watch and want to say it for cleaning service and then add an additional $20 fee to the $20 "watch cleaning fee" due to the watch being high-end and he's said Just got jerked for $95.00 in watch cleaning from this place and even his math was OFF !!! Receipt said $95 for a watch and he tried saying the $95 was for $20 (2x's) "watch cleaning" and then $35 for 3rd watch because it was a "HIGH END" as he said (he thought it was a Fendi and it was a Tiffany's ) and add $15 EXTRA for it being as he called it a "high end" watch and to TOP it all off his math was wrong because if you add $20+$20+$35=$75.00 so receipt was for $95 which had written for the Wooden Watch he was selling yet wants to tell me to get a LAWYER smh !!! I live around the corner so I decided to stop in to get links removed from my watch. I didn't bother to ask the price because I figured it wasn't a complicated task. That's my bad because I was charged $45 (plus tax) to have 2 links removed. Total came out to $48.99. I was shocked. I live in Williamsburg and want to support local businesses, but I do feel ripped off. The entire service took less than 10 minutes. He accidentally slipped while unscrewing the links and there's now a scratch on the gold bracelet. The entire experience was meh. Learned my lesson. Always ask prices upfront! read more

Once I arrived I was greeted by the owner and in a timely matter he changed the batteries and recommend various leather bands. He showed me the difference between all the options and the quality. The bracelet for my men's Rolex Datejust was damaged in a dog walking incident. One side had come apart and clasp would no longer engage. I didn't bother to ask the price because I figured this would be comparable to prior experiences I have had. $75 later for 2 batteries and a link removal, I think this place is overpriced compared to other jewelers I have been to in the city and around the area. I am happy to support local business but when the price is 2x the amount compared to other local business, it's tough to justify. Maybe it is my fault and I should have asked for prices before but a $30+ tax link removal seems egregious to me when others are charging $10-$15. The work was fine, but not for the price. read more

I really try to support small businesses. And I'm not one to write reviews, but my experience at 1:46 was an awful waste of time. I arrive 45 minutes after they claim they'll be open, expecting to quickly pick up two watches I had repaired. I wait a half an hour and still no one is there even though the lights are on. I called both contact numbers and sent an email with no response. While waiting, 4 or 5 customers, hoping to be serviced, also came by and were surprised that they weren't open. (One even said that this is the third time this has happened to her and mentioned how difficult it is to find parking in the area). Finally someone arrived, shallowly apologizing for her lateness. I tell her of my experience and she asks me to pay $20 for my repairs. I quickly pay her, retrieve my watches and tell her to anticipate my review via yelp. She runs after me in the street after I've left and tries to pay me off with a refund. I politely refused. You've earned that $20 along with this review. read more

I have a weird and perhaps one of a kind pocket watch from the 1940s that I recently dropped on the floor. I shattered the glass and broke the movement, and frankly I was a bit devastated. I originally sought to have the repairs done by the manufacturer, but it was going to cost over $1000 and they couldn't even guarantee a fix. Needless to say I could not be happier that I chose to use 1:46 instead. Leo did such a wonderful job replacing the glass and having his mentor reproduce the pieces to fix the movement. It runs and looks fantastic especially for an 80 year old. Even better was that repairs came in under $200 and Leo added a one year warranty on his repairs. Thank you Leo! I will add though, that he seems to be pretty busy all the time, so it took about two weeks longer than originally expected. I was more concerned with a quality repair, so it didn't bother me. Do not go to this place. I took in 2 pairs of earrings and a necklace in June. Waited for them to call and tell me they were ready. Nothing. A month later, I went in and they couldn't find my stuff. They finally located them, but one pair of earrings hadn't been fixed yet. They told me they'd call when it was. It's now OCTOBER and I haven't been able to get my earrings back. I've stopped by the store several times, but they're ALWAYS closed. During their listed "open" hours. Add to that: the necklace whose clasp I had repaired broke again very soon after I picked it up. I try so hard to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I like that it exists. I like what it adds to the neighborhood. I appreciate artistry and artisans. But this isn't Western Europe; this is New York City. If you open at noon, open at noon. How can you be late when you open at noon? Also, if it takes you 48 hours to change a watch battery, complete the job within 48 hours. I show up two days later and it's still not ready and I wonder why you bother at all. read more

I popped in to get my watch battery replaced and walked away a few minutes later with a running watch, knowledge about taking care of it, and only down $10. It was a very good experience - the owner was pleasant and clearly an expert. He showed me the dirt behind my watch back and told me it would be better for the watch mechanism not to clean it - he obviously could have told me otherwise and charged me for it. Another tidbit: it's better to leave your watch running than it is to stop it to save the battery; doing so could cause the watch mechanism to stop working even if the battery is still good. I'll have to tell my mom she's been wrong all these years! One recommendation for if you decided to use this shop - in my experience, it's best not to go close to closing time. I had stopped in a couple times then and found the door locked, though the lights were still on. read more
