My fiance and I ended up going to Gennaro to get our wedding bands since I wasn't thrilled with the place he got my engagement ring at and this place was extremely recommended on the Brides of Long Island Facebook group. I worked with Donna who assisted us with the bands, and Latisha (I think was her name) to get my ring re-sized and polished, and to fix a scuff in the finish caused by the other jeweler. I had a very disappointing experience with this business. I initially brought in two rings, one for reshaping and another for a diamond replacement and repair. The ring that was repaired was significantly over-polished, and I was given a replacement diamond that did not match the quality or grade of the existing diamonds in the ring, which was visibly noticeable. I returned to the store, where I was told the diamond grade and gold weight had not been recorded, though they acknowledged the over-polishing issue and diamond grade issue. I was then informed that a casting would be ordered so my original diamonds could be reset due to the over-polishing. However, when I returned, I was told the casting could not accommodate my diamonds because they were different sizes--meaning the stone measurements were not taken before the casting was ordered. At that point, I was told a fully custom ring would need to be made to fit my diamonds, which made me very hesitant. Eventually, the custom ring was completed, but I was not satisfied with the result. The color of the gold appeared different, and I was never informed that the original ring's weight had not been documented. I later called to confirm whether the ring was solid gold and was told it was. However, only a few months after receiving the new ring, it has significantly bent. My previous ring lasted 6-7 years without any structural issues, so this level of bending so quickly is very concerning. Overall, what started as a repair issue turned into an ongoing problem with communication, quality, and craftsmanship. They are always diligent and have the item in plain view and if they move around the store they raise the item over their heads. The place is usually very busy but they have staff to accommodate. Amazing, incredible, everything you need in a jeweler! A friend had recommended Gennaro when I needed to get a piece of jewelry appraised. I went on a chilly Saturday morning and was let in by security and noticed how crowded it was! It's not a huge space by any means but they somehow make it work. I was immediately greeted by Laisha who was AMAZING! She quickly found a spot at the counter for us and put my jewelry on a color-coded hook so I would always see it while it was being cleaned. YOUR JEWELRY NEVER LEAVES YOUR SIGHT HERE! I cannot stress that enough. I have anxiety and that alone made me feel so much better. After cleaning my piece, Laisha explained the process. They put the jewelry on a microscope that then shows it around the shop on TVs so we can see the number of the stone and that becomes your ID number. Such a cool process to see a number you normally would never see all magnified. After that it is brought to the appraiser's station while your jeweler holds it up above their head and you follow them (again it never leaves your sight). The appraiser was great and fast. She jotted down her notes, took photos, and printed everything up for insurance purposes. After that I was back with Laisha who gave us some goodies and allowed me to add an item to my wishlist. Yes, they have a wishlist and yes, you should use it. After paying and chatting it was back into the chilly air and on my way home with my appraisal in hand. Such a wonderful experience. My fiancé bought my engagement ring online and I didn't want to have to ship my ring out for a few weeks to get it resized. After a year of engagement and doing a lot of research, I finally decided on Gennaro to get my ring resized. Beverly helped me initially with sizing my finger. I went from a size 7 to a size 5. She walked me through pricing and after confirming I was comfortable with the cost (~$225), she went ahead to clean my ring. I was also taken downstairs to the gemologist who did the resizing work. I was told step by step on what he was doing. After resizing it, he allowed me to try it on. I wanted it a bit looser and he complied and then it fit perfectly! They also spot check each other so another gemologist tightened the prongs and inspected my ring. They also confirm that it's still your ring before and after the process by identifying a characteristic or an ID on the ring. I felt very pleased with their service and I loved that I could get my ring back on my finger within 45 minutes versus 3-4 weeks at other retailers. I also decided to buy my wedding band there and that was a smooth process as well. I recommend coming to Gennaro around 10am on Saturday to miss the morning rush of people. They are always busy! Although the store was crowded we were serviced w/in 5 minutes of entering. We worked a/ an amazing person, Cindy Delorantis, who explained and took us through all of their procedures for an appraisal. She was efficient, articulate, poised (in the midst of a late Saturday afternoon crowd) and highly instructional /informational. We followed Cindy through the different areas in the store to clarify what the steps being taken were. They say that they do the appraisal's while you wait and watch ~ and Yes! They actually do that! ~ We watched the jewelry being cleaned, put under a camera and put up on a TV screen to show what it visually looked like and then we walked w/ Cindy over to the actual appraiser. He (Jared Baglietto) took his time w/each step and Cindy continued to check back w/ him and explain to us, while we watched. When he was done, Cindy took the piece back and had us check on the TV screen again as she showed it on the camera, and she cleaned it and then she explained all of their pricing procedures. The entire 'process' was professional, smooth and Cindy made it reassuring and pleasant. I have had appraisal's elsewhere but this will be my first thought for going for/ or to any jewelry establishment for any purchase,service and attention~ based on the quality and and attention of the staff I encountered. read more

I recently had a custom ring made here and it was the best decision ever. When my dad passed away he left me a ring that was way too big for me to wear. For years I wanted a replica made so I can carry a piece of him with me. After meeting with Angela I knew that it would be possible to have the ring I always wanted made. Other places over the years would give vague estimates and also lied about the stone (the original ring is black onyx and one jeweler said it was coral). She helped so much and you could see she actually cared about helping me ring the best option for what I was looking for. Instead of making a mold of the ring, we went with taking separate pieces and making them into a new ring and carve out the feather design on the sides to look as close to the original ring as possible. When the ring was done and I finally got to wear the ring it not only looked like my dad's ring, but it was also a bit of my style as well.
