I needed to have an old baby grand piano taken from my home and disposed of. Jeff and Jahlil had just completed a job that ended up being much bigger than originally scheduled. They arrived here in late afternoon and they were able to remove my piano more quiickly than I thought could be done. They were polite and genial. They my home clean. Was appreciative that they were able to come out to my storage unit on short notice on a Saturday afternoon. Glad that they took care of my needs but left me a bad case of buyer's remorse at the final cost. I was expecting at most to pay the $750 full load charge but was hit with two surcharges based upon ostensibly the weight/size of several items and the need to utilize a small portion of a 2nd truck. These surcharges were communicated and took the total cost close to $1200 and all for a 10x20 storage unit that was only 75% full. Besides the surcharges, I was disappointed by two things. First the need for a 2nd truck. Items were thrown in haphazardly which if organized better it could have all fit in the 1st truck. Secondly, I naively thought that that furniture items that could be easily repurposed would be donated elsewhere. An antique bench, schoolhouse student desk and another desk were thrown into the truck and I am sure ultimately a landfill somewhere. They were convenient and fast, but far too expensive. I will not use them again, nor can I recommend them. No apology or further contact is necessary unless it comes with a partial refund. Otherwise it is just lip service. read more

Left the hose to the icemaker running water into the kitchen instead of putting it out the window that was right above the water line, gouged the hardwoods original to the old house but still had the nerve to ask for the guns that were left in the house. Local manager all but called me a liar. Thank God for the Terminix man that shut the water off or the whole house would have flooded. Using 1-800-Got-Junk has been the worst service experience of my life. I solicited donation pick ups from local charities (of which I had multiple offers to pick up for free). However, I decided to go with this company because they could "in theory" pick up my donations at an earlier date at a "donation" rate. Needless to say - they missed not only one but two pick up appointments that I had scheduled and gone out of my way to be there for. On the occasion that somebody actually did show, it was a new crew trying to renegotiate the price again. Out of pure frustration I finally went with whatever price they would take in order to move everything so I could stop wasting my time. Worst part? All of my high-quality donation items went into the back of a trash compactor... so much for trying to donate back to the community. read more

Quoted $299.00 as the high end of cost on the phone. Was told they would come in between 2:30 - 4:30pm. Company was made aware that I was in a storage unit that had to be moved that day by 5:30pm so I questioned them repeatedly on that quote to make sure it was at least close to what I'd pay because I would have no choice when they showed up because at that point it would be too late to get anyone else. This was also stressed repeatedly to them which I feel they used to their advantage. Didn't show up until after 5pm, which was not the time frame we were given. But when they showed up, was told it would be $509.00. I of course got upset and informed the movers of the price I was quoted and was then told "they do that all the time" by the movers. But let this be clear...the two guys that help us were awesome!  I just wish they worked for a more reliable, trustworthy, ethical business. read more

I got a random call on 4/7/23 with someone on the line saying they are from 1-800 got junk, no explanation as to what the call was, so i thought it was a scam call. I tell the caller, "do not call this number again" and before i could hang up the call the individual says " then "f" you b*tch", i hung up and blocked the number. 10 mins later, my ring door bell goes off and i answer it from my phone. It was two men from 1-800-got-junk who were contracted by Casper to pick up a mattress. Casper never confirmed with me at the time this company will be coming or when. I recognized his voice as the person who just called my phone and cursed me out and called him out on what he said on the phone. i let him know the call was recorded on my end. I decided to ask both of them to get off my property and i would be calling the cops. How unprofessional of this business to allow one of their coworkers who represents their business to speak to a customer that way. The regional manager called me and was going to follow back up and never did call. I am upset that this individual knows where i live. I will be alerting my local police and having this on record. read more

Keep in mind i have used their services before and they were great but this time it was not what was expected. Arrangements for Items to be picked up on 10/24/23. Provided picture of items to be picked up as requested. was advised of the terms, pricing, and how it actually works. At this point i advised them of the amount I would be spending so they began loading items i went back inside and waited until i was told the task had been completed. Initially it looked like a lot had been removed and was thinking all that could be removed was removed. 'So paper work was signed and fee paid. I decided to take another look at the items not taken and realized (my opinion) not very much was taken. After scrutinizing over the job that was really wasn't performed . I contacted customer service on 10/27/23 advised someone would be follow up with me shortly. On Monday 10/30/23 Shuan Bryant a manager returned my call discussed the issue the removal and me to provided pictures of the items before and after of items removed, i was told he discuss the matter with his general manager and would get back in touch with me with a resolution and/or decision. Which i never got a return call i had to call Mr. Bryan-- the manager and was advised that after reviewing the pictures according to their stipulations and terms all procedures were followed and the fee was correct . The only thing they could offer was the remaining items could be removed at half price . I respectfully declined stating i overpaid the first, Thanks but no thanks and will not be using them again, JUST KNOW I USED THEM BEFORE AND IT WAS GREAT THIS TIME THEY ROBED ME. Long story short, Sean and Max were the utmost skilled professionals as they dissembled, maneuvered through a narrow doorway and down a twisted staircase, and hauled this thing out of my life forever. Why am I reviewing two waste removal companies in a row? I just bought a house, lots of stuff to replace or upgrade! Had an old toilet that I wanted to get rid of; builders-grade, low and inefficient. Looked up prices in the Charlotte area for a one-time haul and 1-800 Got Junk was about the same as everyone else, however the rep was able to contact the local office who was willing to remove my toilet from the curb (in a box, wrapped in plastic. Easy job.) for $50. The other companies wouldn't budge on a minimum of about $95. I really wish they were able to answer my question about recycling. I would typically take a toilet like this one (in really good shape, just upgrading to a 'fancier' model) to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, however it had a crack near the base. Toilets can still be recycled and nearly 100% is reusable in either reclaimed porcelain or in road construction. The rep was unable to answer specifically for the toilet but said the company makes an effort to responsibly dispose of as many materials as possible. Lets just hope my prior throne doesn't end up in the landfill! For the price, very happy for my one-time removal. They were there exactly when they said they'd be and had many time available in 2 hour windows. I told the rep on the phone that I wouldn't be home for the pickup and they took my payment over the phone after verifying the load. Fast service and good value. What more can you ask for? read more

Our experience scheduling a pick up and the promptness of their arrival to pick up our junk was great - but that's where it ends. After one of our pick ups, there was damage to our door and door frame which we immediately called to have them fix. After scheduling a day and time for them to come and repair the damage, we had a conflict in our schedule which we called about immediately and asked to reschedule. We were told that we would receive a call from the individual who would be fixing the door. Crickets. We received no follow up phone call, and after calling to ask about rescheduling, we still got no response. After months of waiting and follow ups, we had to escalate the concern to corporate. Corporate did get in touch with the local office, but that in itself took weeks. While we were happy with the experience of the pick up, the after-service customer service was less than desired. While the repair person was a third-party contractor, I would expect that the local office would have more follow-thru on the situation until the time the repair was completed. A customer should not have to be doing the follow-up work to ensure a repair is complete. read more

I got a call at 2:15pm from the driver saying that "on Sundays, things work differently", and that there were 4 appointments in front of mine. He couldn't give me any idea of when they would be able to show up. At 7:15pm, when I was out at dinner, I got a call saying that they were a few minutes away. I told them to not bother. read more

I thought this was going to be very simple. I had a king mattress that I needed to get rid of. I already got rid of the box springs and frame. The mattress was just too big and heavy for me to move. This would take anyone with a dolly about 5 minutes to move. I set up an appointment online for a Wednesday. On Monday, I received a call confirming the appointment. The person that called was very professional and nice. He said the truck driver would call me 20 minutes or so before they would arrive. I felt really good about this. So far, they have done everything perfectly. My window on Wednesday was between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Surely, with such a simple move, I would be one of the first stops. No call at 7:30.... or, 8:00. But they called at 8:30 and said they were at the local recycling center (fancy word for "dump") and would head my way shortly. The "dump" is 15 minutes from me. I thought they should arrive no later than 9:00. Nine o'clock came and went. 9:15 - nothing. 9:30 - nothing. OK. An hour ago they were 15 minutes away. Where are they? At 9:45 I decided to call the driver back. He said they had to go to a different "dump" and were still 25 minutes away from me. Do the math. That puts them at my place at 10:10. You know what? I'm tired of service people giving me a window and either missing the window or arriving exactly at the end of the window. Today I took a stand. I told them to cancel the pick-up. They asked me if I wanted to reschedule. I said NO! I am going to call a different company to pick up the mattress. There is NO EXCUSE for delivery people to be so far off on their estimates. In 1971 (think about this... no cell phones. no electronic maps. No GPS systems...) I used to deliver pianos in Atlanta, GA. Every day we would look at the deliveries, arrange them by location within the city, call each customer and give them a window of about 30 minutes to let them know what time we would be there. And then we would start our deliveries. We almost NEVER MISSED OUR WINDOW!!! With all of today's technology, there is no excuse to give a 2 hour window for delivery and then MISS THE WINDOW. So what happened? I'm not sure but since they were at the dump at 8:30 a.m. I suspect they had junk from the previous day that they did not get rid of. Therefore they had to get rid of it in the morning. If they were at the dump at 8:30 a.m. they were not committed to meeting any schedules. They should have been at the dump at 7:00! (or, get rid of the night before) And by the way, the dump they were at requires that you live in that county and have a sticker stating that fact. When I called them, they were coming from a dump in a different county. So, I suspect they were turned away at the first dump. If so, shame on 800-gotjunk. They should have known that. All this is too bad. The online reservation worked great. The call 2 days before the pickup was perfect. The driver even called me 20 minutes before delivery... and then... he didn't. They had to make a detour and they did not let me know. I worked many years in customer service and the one thing I learned was to CALL THE CUSTOMER to let him / her know what is going on. Even if it is bad news, you should call. Getting a proactive call with bad news is a whole lot better that getting no call at all and arriving late. read more

So disappointing. Needed only a small apartment sized couch moved and it cost $269! The pricing was way more expensive than advertised. I tried to resolve the issue with corporate who referred my claim back to the local owner. I did not even receive the courtesy of a call back after multiple attempts. Very disappointing. I'd give them negative stars if possible. When I called to set an appointment, I explained I was needing my house cleared out after a fire, as all of my furniture was ruined from smoke damage. They told me they have 15 yard trucks. I voiced my concerns that it wouldn't be big enough, but was told they'd bring out an empty truck to take as much as they could. the crew that was sent to the property wasn't given a house number. Of course, they came right before the window I had booked ended. They had been given no information on what they were coming to do. they showed up with a truck that was over half full. When I voiced my surprise, was told they'd never bring a completely empty truck. If I had known that from the start, I wouldn't have booked them. I then told the crew that at the least, I wanted them to haul off my mattresses. The head of the duo, when he saw the amount of stuff I had to junk, started telling me they'd have to charge more to cart off electronics. I gently reminded him I didn't ask for them to haul off the electronics. they were able to squeeze a couple of tiny items on the truck besides the mattresses. i paid this company over $600 and still have a house full of unsalvageable items I have to hire another crew to remove. Two missed appointment windows in the same day, and only receive any communication from them after I have called the corporate office, who in turns calls the local office. This was awful. We called them to schedule a removal, and on they were very accommodating and courteous over the phone. Getting them to schedule a day to come out was incredibly easy - this is where the good news ends. They came by when we were not at the property to assess the situation and fill up a first truck for disposal. We got a call later that day saying it would cost us 4 full trucks to remove everything from the house. Suspicious about this bid, we went by the home that evening to see what had been removed. It was hard to tell that anyone had been in the home. They removed a desk and a sofa - no where near what were would expect from a "full truck" removal. We called back that night demanding an explanation. We told them that not only was there no way that a full truck had been removed, but that we no longer believed their assessment of 4 loads. We agreed to pay for two full trucks, and demanded pictures proving that the truck was full upon their departure each time - we also told the owner that we would not pay for the truck that had already come by. He agreed to this, so we agreed to give him the business for two more trucks. We felt good about it when we received photos of the two full loads being removed. And then we received a phone call that they driver ran over our front gate - pulling it out of the ground. Rather than deal with the back and forth, we asked them to please pick up one more truck to "pay" for the gate they damaged and said we'd call it even. That night, when we went to check on the house again, it was the most unprofessional mess we had ever seen, and much more was damaged than the gate. There were holes in the drywall, the attic door was completely pulled off the ceiling and missing, there was glass all over the floor and TV's turned face down in the hallway. It looked like they picked through the items we asked them to throw out and decided which pieces they felt like taking, while just haphazardly throwing the others around the house. We left a poor review on their site and never so much as received a phone call. I would NEVER recommend that anyone use this company. I know that they subcontract, but they are clearly not holding their employees up to a very high standard of respecting peoples homes. The 1 800 - GOT JUNK receptionist who scheduled my appointment was very courteous. She set up an appoitment for the next day to get an estimate of the cost. It was set between 1:00 and 3:30 pm. At 2:15, I called to see if they were on track and still planned to see us before 3:30. The man who answered the phone could not reach whom ever it was that was coming to our home. He took down our mobile information for back up, and said " I hope they will be there." That should have been a clue to what happened later. At 4:00 pm, we called again, and a different agent began to tell us the following LIES: 1. Our guys called you several times and received a beeping sound (voice mail full) 2. They knocked on your door, and no one was home 3. This appointment was for 10:00 am this morning His attitude was, that's what's on my computer. I am only the middle man. We felt that we lost an entire day waiting on a company that was very unprofessional. We would have rather had them say that they did not want the $450 dollar job! I called and voila - they gave me a range of what it would cost (actual cost is based on amount of space the junk takes up).
