We have moved a total of 14 times over the years. In that time we have engaged several moving services. The last mover I used left us with several broken items, held the second truck up for two weeks, and gave us a miserable moving experience. This time we chose Fernando Movers based on yelp ratings. Fernando himself came out to assess for the estimate, later given to us by Belkis, who was extremely helpful throughout the process. The moving crew that took care of us was friendly and very helpful. Obviously, they are very well trained. They took care to wrap all of the furniture and or cover with moving blankets. They even took my desk apart and reassembled it in my new office. Every container was marked with which room it should go to, and they delivered every piece of furniture and every container properly. If they weren't sure or had a question about something, they came to me to ask. The moving day went very smoothly. Then they really knocked my socks off. Belkis informed me that the cost of the move came in less that what they had estimated, even though they needed a second truck. They refunded me the difference no questions asked! I only keep moving so these big, burly, muscular, sweaty men can carry my things. I had a last minute move recently, in town. I contacted this moving company. I spoke w/ Belkis who is an owner & she was very helpful. I hired 4 movers & their truck. 2 guys showed up on time, 2 were an hour late sighting traffic. The other 2 guys had been taking apart stuff while they waited for the other 2. They all spoke Spanish which no issue but I do believe that 2 of them didn't understand me, they just nodded. I have to bring up the fact that I have a really bad back due to an old injury b/c it comes into play as the day goes on. I was doing the best I could packing as well as working but it hindered me from being able to run around to see what work was being done/not being done. I did go outside after maybe 2 hours to see that they had done a good job loading the first 3rd or more of the truck & there shouldn't have been any issues loading the remainder of my home. I'd made a move exactly 1 yr prev w/ the same stuff, 2 movers & the same sized truck, no issue. I did notice a lot of standing around & talking between the crew. I realize they need breaks but when you're paying by the hour, crew is late & you're on a very tight budget, you know it's costing you. They slowed down & began asking me almost piece by piece if I was taking this or that. I'd made it clear I was taking it all several times. At 1point during the day, one of the crew members had told me he thought I was pretty. He looked very young, like high school young. It made me uncomfortable but I said thanks. A short time later, he asked me if he could ask me a ? but then told me to forget about it. Again, made me uncomfortable but he's an awkward kid so I shrugged it off. Mentioning this b/c it too will come back up. Maybe an hr later give or take, I was told the truck was full right & they decided that they weren't going to be loading anymore. Ummm, what? I looked in the truck & basically could see back to what was obviously the end of where they had done a good job loading. There was a ton of room to stack but they were closing the truck. It all happened so quickly & I wasn't given a decent warning to pick & choose so that if anything, they could move the heavy stuff for me & I could come back to get the lighter stuff. I was urging them to at least move stuff to my garage for easier pick up later... knowing it's not going to be "easy" for me because I can no longer walk straight! They were just done & already getting to leave. It was a helpless feeling but I'd waste way time trying to get them to re-pack the truck. I was overwhelmed & in pain that was getting worse. I get to the house a good 20-30 mins before the truck & 2 guys showed up & it was another 20-30 before the other 2 showed. The 2 guys seemed to be waiting for the other 2 to get moving. But again, I'm in so much pain & a 3-story house is killing me to oversee. I'm telling them where stuff goes, but obvious that they either didn't understand or just didn't care. They knew I couldn't do the up and down so i feel they were taking advantage. Before I knew it, they were done & packing up their stuff. I cannot even get up to walk around to check, the pain was intense so I was just praying they did what I asked, I needed to lay down asap! The $ my bill came to shocked me how high it was but I was desperate for them to leave. Not 5 mins after, the kid I mentioned, texted & I was absolutely shocked! I had to read & re-read b/c I just couldn't believe what I was reading. He texted me the most disgusting & vile ? I've ever received. It was sexual in nature& of an extremely blunt. He asked me to keep it between us & not share & that no one had to know! This kid knows where I live! Do I contact his boss? Do I call the police? Again, I can't move & he knows where I live!! WTH! I cannot NOT call the owner. I do and send her the proof. I can tell she's shocked. I'm crying & shaking b/c it's all too much. There are so many more details but I just want to put it behind me. Police were called too. Now, as I've gained back more mobility, but still on the struggle bus, It's all a mess but it's my fault for not being able to get around to ensure they put stuff where it needed to go. But, I'm now realizing I have to deal w/repairs, from damage they caused. I have antiques I brought over from Germany that have appraised for small fortunes & are damaged! They are pieces that are from the 1800's so fresh scratches are easy to see. And this is only what I've found so far. Moves are not easy & as a mil spouse who moved more times than I can remember both stateside & internationally, I'm having a hard time scoring this any less than my top 2 most stressful moves which were both international. read more

Showed up on time and job was completed in a somewhat reasonable amount of time. One of the guys did have a bit of an attitude problem. He was clearly irritated pretty much the whole time that a 3rd guy wasn't sent as well (it wasn't even mentioned to me more than 2 guys was an option). He was very rough with my things (had to vocalize this MULTIPLE times). Also they brought minimal supplies (went through 3 rolls of my tape - didn't ask just grabbed it off a table) and brought no electric tools. The job was done in a reasonable amount of time and there ended up being almost no damage to my things (I had to watch like a hawk due to roughness) so it wasn't all bad. *Long Post alert* so overall advice is AVOID this company! Cancel if you've already booked, seriously I wish I would have! Now the details-- Firstly I'll say the 2 movers were pleasant guys-they padded/wrapped things that needed it Unfortunately those are the only good things about this move. I used Fernando Movers to move from a 2 story house to 2nd fl apt. I had every box & item ready to go easy access & prepped for moving. My things constitutes to about a studio apt- Please look at the pictures. It took them a whopping "4hrs" ..Waaay too much chatting/laughing between the men while using hands for gesturing instead of hands for working The pace was steady but lacked urgency and their process is extremely inefficient. They literally moved each box ONE BY ONE until the last 30 min where one guy finally stacked boxes on a dolly! Finally After 3 hours!?! The reason I was told they didn't use the dolly in the first house was because it basically wouldn't have made a difference ...my mind was blown at this madness. You and I know that however they try to spin it ... it amounts to the clock, their time is my money ! Also, Belkis the woman who answers the phone turned out to be the rudest person I've done business with in a long time. I have thick skin when it comes to these things but the way she became stubbornly defensive, changed her tone of voice and talked OVER me as soon as I mentioned the quality/price of my service.... Just wow, it was really quite shocking and disrespectful. It almost ruined my whole day. And lastly another point of awful business practice- they charge a $65 flat service fee along with the $110 hourly rate. They started at 1:45p and they were done at the new place around 5:15p... they charged me for 4 hours While it took 30 minutes for them to drive from point A to point B! So they basically charged me within the hourly rate for what the service fee is supposed to take care of! They only "WORKED" for 3 hours !! They charged me $505 Avoid Fernando Movers! Don't be fooled by the sweet Belkis who gets you scheduled because she will surely turn sour at mention of your concerns. There's plenty other movers who know that good movers should be FOCUSED QUICK and EFFICIENT. When another mover didn't show up for the job at 9:00 AM, I frantically searched for a mover who could come over ASAP. After several tries, I found Fernando and Brothers (on Yelp, of course). They were able to gather two guys to come over and unload 1/2 of a small truck. They arrived within 40 minutes and were done in less than an hour. Although I objected, I had to pay the two-hour minimum which was worth it for the last-minute service. When I spoke with the lady in the office, I had no issues. The guys worked with my brother and he informed me that they worked efficiently and knocked it out without incident. Our team, Thiago, Carlos, Cesar and Camilo were all very professional, highly skilled and extremely efficient at fitting everything into the pods safely and snugly. Here are a couple of pointers: * They were responsive in getting back to me right away! * They were PREPARED! They had a huge moving truck (although I didn't need it). Extra boxes to place in between furniture on my own truck so furniture wouldn't get damaged. They had their own dolly, moving equipment with wheels (not sure what that's called lol). * They were efficient and on time! They even offered to come a little early since they had an open spot that same day. * They were very courteous and professional. * The biggest perk!? They BUBBLE WRAPPED ALL OF MY FRAGILE furniture (TVs, couch, leather chairs, tables). This was amazing because they care about the quality of your things as it's being moved. * Last but not least- GREAT PRICES! You see the quality of what's being done. MOVERS - - - - - - - - I used Fernando and Brothers twice: the first time to move me into a Charlotte apartment, and the second time to move me across the state of NC. The first time in Charlotte, the agreement was for the guys to unpack a POD that was packed by us. They did a good job. They didn't bring a dolly which I think would have made the process faster, but overall I accepted the process. I did communicate some of my preferences about my items but they didn't heed those which I didn't love. However, overall they guys completed the pack-out, and they were respectful and hardworking. The second time, the agreement was more extensive -- your traditional move. The agreement was for the guys to wrap up furniture, tie it down, the whole deal, drive across NC to a new city, move the furniture into the new place, unwrap it, put furniture together, and they nailed it. This time the movers were Thiago and Johnathan -- ASK FOR THEM :). They were absolutely wonderful. I had a nightmare move with a different company when I graduated grad school and moved out, and I was really nervous about this move. Thiago and Johnathan were efficient, but they were also pleasant and kind. They listened to any concerns I had about my stuff and I really appreciate them. They made a usually stressful event so so joyful -- it's wild to say that about a move! Sidenote: The guys came dressed in Fernando Brothers t-shirts which is just nice and professional I worked with Fernando Brothers before but like I said above, I had a few concerns going into this move -- I brought those concerns to Belk and she listened and reassured me before we confirmed the second move.
