I felt like there are a lot of unfair reviews on this business. The people that picked our junk were friendly and efficient. I was given a time frame of 1-3pm. I received a couple of calls throughout the day so that I knew exactly when they would be there. The reps arrived, showed me their rate sheet and estimated how much my junk would be to remove. They then asked if I wanted to move forward. It took them approx. 10 mins to fill 1/3 of the truck, and the final price matched their estimate. This included a few appliances (washer and dryer, mini fridge). It was a little pricey, but definitely understandable considering the cost to running a junk removal business (pay for employees, cost of equipment, insurance, landfill fees, etc.) I will be using 1-800-got junk if I ever need bulk amounts removed again. Highly suggest avoiding 1800GotJunk, or at least ensuring they explain their terms completely on the front end based on your needs. We had them out to collect and dispose of post construction debris, which was 90% cardboard boxes from newly purchased home items. We were told the cost is based on volume which we understood, and based on what they could see our cost would be somewhere in the $275 range plus $75 per worker for labor (which is pro-rated based on actual time). Upon completion of loading (15 minutes in total), we were expecting a tab of around $320 only to be informed that our total was $665 as there "was more than we thought at time of estimation". This would obviously be a much larger load as they did not break any of the boxes down, which created more volume. When I asked why they didn't break them down or inform me in advance that this wouldn't be the case, they just said "well you would have been paying more for our labor". At $150/hr for labor, they could have easily performed the necessary breakdown of the boxes to conserve space....but integrity is not in their business model and padding their bottom line with deception is easier for them. Franco & Francis give us an estimate of the price which we accepted but after they spoke with their Manager, they came back to us and asked if we were okay with them doing half of the work that day and continue on the next day as they were short of staff. We agreed as we really needed the stuff to be remove from our yard. They completed half of the work, changed us $731 and never show or call us again to finish the job. I had two gentlemen from 800 got junk come over to our house on Saturday afternoon about 7 to pick up some carpet and padding from a flooded basement. Let me just say the experience was a total disaster. The gentlemen show up and tug real hard on the side gate when I tell them that it's locked from the inside . The wood holding the hinge was broken and I now have to get the wood and hinge repaired. Not to mention that they started out at over $500 just to dispose of carpet and padding. Never again as I don't want people to wreck my property before even giving me an estimate for junk removal. Total rip off. Today I called to see how much to remove 2 mattress 1 box spring and a futon with a small mattress. The lady on the phone said they could come out and give me an estimate. They had one spot left today. I said what's a ballpark she said $130 to $199. I said ok. She said the guys would call 30 minutes before coming. I said perfect. 15 minutes later I get a call and the guy says his guys are swamped. He says can we do it tomorrow. I said I have to work. He says no problem we can take payment over the phone. I scheduled an appointment last week Online, and received a confirmation email. I called when they didn't show up this week and they said I was pushed to a later window. Again when they didn't show up so I called, they said they would call the truck and get a call back. I then received a cancellation email, called back again and they contacted the office which said I didn't have an appointment and there is no record of it. WAY, WAY, WAY overpriced!! The service was good, but this costs far too much for the service rendered. We paid nearly $700 to have the construction material from a torn down shed removed, which measured 4.5x15 feet - i.e. not very much material. In my initial call, I communicated the size of the shed to the agent and they said that should "easily" fit in the truck, and would probably not fill the entire truck." When the truck arrived, they told me they already had 1/6th of the truck filled up, but should be able to get it all in. At a later point, they said the truck was full and would have to come back and it could be as much as $400+ more, which would be nearly $1000 for the load!! I told them I didn't think I could do this and they promptly dropped the price to the minimum ($136) and gave me a $50 credit, resulting in an additional $86 fee - Grand total of $682. The guys on the job were just trying to help with the ad hoc reduction, but it is clear that the process is flawed. However, in order to keep the price down, they left material on site that I have to dispose myself. 1-800-GOT-JUNK prides themselves on price transparency, but this felt a little bit less than transparent and more convoluted than expected. I should have just rented a budget or uhaul truck and taken it to the dump myself and saved hundreds of dollars. I'm not sure the "convenience" factor is worth $400-500. read more

Awful. I have a large furniture delivery coming on Thursday and needed some items removed before then. I called on a Tuesday morning & was told that the ONLY opening they had was the same day between 11-1PM, so I took it. I spent the next 2 hours preparing for junk removal only to have them not show up. So I called them back and was told my appt "wasn't entered into the system correctly" and that they had no more openings before Friday. What a complete waste of my time. Literally, HOURS of my time. Thanks for nothing. ETA: I called Junkman at 1:15 after getting off the phone with these guys & they literally sent two of the nicest dudes to remove our junk within an hour & a half. Did the job I contacted 1-800-GOT-JUNK after we ATTEMPTED to use Waste Management's Bagster bag service. After 2 weeks and 3 failed pick-ups from WM we called GOT JUNK and 2 days later they arrived and 2 men had the job done in under 15 minutes. Price wasn't too much different than what Waste Management was going to charge us so I'm satisfied and just glad to have the stupid bagster gone. read more

Absolutely do not use this company this company comes in overcharges for space their vehicles 10 x 8 x 5 which holds 400 ft.³ they claim they charge by volume these gentleman showed up at my house at 8:30 in the morning and quoted me $400 for a half a vehicle when this vehicle is 3/4 if not completely full. I was quoted for 1/4 of a vehicle on the phone($175) I told him in person that I was not going to go over 1/4 of a vehicle which is $288 on their quote sheet . after talking to their dispatcher he came back and told me "is there anyway that I could quote you a half a truck it'll be $400" I work for moving company 400 ft.³ could hold a small two bedroom house they come with a full truck then they overcharge you and if they can't overcharge you they tell you they can't work with you and they leave as fast as they can go. absolute horrible experience they will definitely scam you and steal your money do not use them. 0 stars read more

Let me start with the good. The guys arrived at the time they said they would and were very friendly, -- they gathered up the stuff I needed to be removed and were quick about it.-- The bad, on the website promotional video they show how much stuff it takes to fill 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and full truck, and how they stack it. I didn't have all that much stuff and it could easily be stacked so I figured it would be 170 bucks or so. The first words out from the guys after introductions was 1/6th of a truck $289- I called BS and threatened to cancel. After going around and around finally got the price to 175.00. My belief is the guys are trained to overestimate by one level to gouge the customer. Not cool! It is a nice service, especially because they pick up even on Sunday, but beware of the price bump. read more

I called to get an estimate for some decluttering. The drivers came out and quoted an estimate of 428 or more because my items were bulky. I said you can stand them up and also your competitor quoted 350. The guy said let me call in and tt the ops mgr to see if we can price match. He came back and said they would also do this for 350. I said great and told them I think I also have a coupon for you as well. He said we don't have coupons. I went and got it and showed him. He said he wouldn't honor it because he already did the price match. I said you gave me a final rate of 350 and now I'm trying to add the coupon. He continued to say he wouldn't take it. I asked for him to call his Mgr. he said he is gone for the day. So I said hold on and I call in. He said oh I'll have him call you. They go to the truck and someone calls me who sounded like the driver. Anyway he said oh we don't have coupons and we already agreed to price match. I said yep and now that I have the final rate I wan't to use my coupon. I offered to text a pic to him since he and the drivers have no clue they door hang and send mailer coupons. The guy on the phone said even though the coupon doesn't have any restrictions he will agree with the driver and not honor it. Was told on the phone $150-$175, for 1/8 of a truck which is what my sectional and coffee table would have taken up, I know because I used a 15 foot truck to move my 1 bedroom apt. They said it was a 10 foot truck they brought. So they said it would take up 1/2 the truck (it would have if it set up as if it was in my living room. Had them come out to remove an old mattress and box spring, there is a large wine stain on the mattress, it's 15 years old, I rent this room out to tenants and the last one was a drunk, and she ruined the mattress for good. Do not use this company in the Denver Metro area. They were two hours late and showed up with a full truck which resulted in another 90 minute delay. So a 3:30 -5:30 window for a simple job took until 9:00 in the evening. The guys worked hard but the franchisee's performance in terms of scheduling is inexcusable. They also called a number of times to say they were on the way and didn't show up within the delayed window either. Just a terrible experience and terrible service.
