I don't know how it compares to other companies since I didn't comparison shop but it seemed reasonable enough, especially for the convenience. The guys were great in that they let me know they were running late but they showed up with a full truck knowing full well that I had a couch, secretarial, tool chest, and dresser. They offered to go to the dump and come back but I was over it at this point. I'll find someone else that shows up with room in their truck. What a disappointment. read more

You charge to much for picking up items , charged me $400 to pickup for a little spot in the truck

This is just a horrible way to do business. You go on their website and schedule and then they call you and explain that they are going to show up and give you no idea what the cost is until they get there. The hope, of course, is that you don't object and you drag everything out of your garage and when they show up and tell you it's going to be $400 to take an old mattress and stair stepper, you are willing to pay just to get it over with. But I did ask, the lady on the phone and she said, "$198 is our starting estimate" and I said that's ridiculous. There is a dump 3 miles from my house and (admittedly exaggeratedly) said I could just get someone to haul it for $20 and she scoffed. Now, I'm not saying it should be $20, but I know and you know that if their starting price is $198 it ain't gonna be $198. In any event, I'm just not comfortable doing business with a company that operates this way. It's a type of pressure sales. I already know the deal. They get here, say $400 and then if I decline, they "call the manager" and come back with a lesser price. The risk that I decline altogether is worth the increase revenue from customers who don't care about wasting money, need it done, or are unwilling to negotiate. I never complain online but this company deploys "bait and switch". I scheduled a pick-up for my working refrigerator, provided them with an accurate and detailed description of my fridge, received a verbal and written confirmation on the price and when they arrived at my house for the pick-up they tried to TRIPLE the price of the pick-up. I spoke to the office and they apologized for the inconvenience but wouldn't change the price so I sent them away. I have heard that 1-800-GOT-JUNK does this quite often and I believe it's against the law and if not, very shady business practice. read more
