Mad cool and super professional and attentive. My consultation was quick, but the removal procedure was even quicker. I'm so bummed I just now discovered 1 point! I'm moving next weekend and really wanted a "Hawai'i" tattoo in Hawai'i before I left. My regular artist is in San Antonio so I'm always nervous to "cheat" on him but I really wanted some work from a local artist. A couple of my friends had some work done at 1 point, by Kaleo specifically, so I checked out his work on Instagram. I loved it and text him to schedule an appointment. Kaleo got me in within the next couple of days, we went over what I wanted, he said cool, easy day. When I showed up, I told him I was pretty flexible as far as design and gave him an idea of what I wanted and where and he drew up an AMAZING design that totally surpassed my expectations. It took longer than I expected so I did get pretty fatigued after a while (note, there is a froyo place next door so it's all good) but the end result was so worth it. He was personable, the shop was super clean (and the decor was pretty rad, too, if you care about that), and all the guys in the shop were genuinely nice and down to earth. I started getting work done by Simon about a year ago when he was at a previous shop, he has since left and started his own shop called 1Point Tattoo. This review will be an ode to his character, professionalism, people that work at his shop, and quality of work. In the last year Simon has tattooed a full sleeve and a good size back piece on me; with that said, I don't expect these to be the only pieces I end up with by Simon before I leave Hawaii. The artistic ability in this guy (who previously did more traditional pieces) is incredible considering how far he has come since drastically altering his style. I've come with very vague ideas for all my tattoos and let him take it away, trusting in what he would come up with. Again, blew me out of the water with the results. I consistently get extremely positive comments on my sleeve from strangers, and all my friends note how the sleeve and back piece are among their favorite of my relatively large tattoo collection. I can only say so much, but if you are at all debating getting a tattoo from him, his Instagram is a great reflection of the work he puts out. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. I also have a couple tattoos from Kaleo, who also works at 1Point. Extremely friendly guy, and is always looking out for the best interests of his clients. Ash is also incredibly friendly, although I have not gotten tattooed by her, I have spent enough time in the shop with them all to vouch for each of them. Not only are they friendly but the quality of their work is also great, good enough to put it on my body for the rest of my life. I would trust either of them with any traditional (I think Ash is more neo-traditional) work that I wanted. Spending close to 30 hours with someone you a good grip on who they are as person. Simon is open to talk to anyone pretty much about anyone (as long as you can sit still and not complain). He takes his art form very seriously, he also takes his business very seriously. Quite honestly, I can't think of another tattoo artist that would handle a shop more professionally and honestly than he does. There is no drama. It is a laid back place with a good vibe. He is consistently trying to improve the aesthetics of the shop, I'm actually quite excited to see how it looks next time I'm in. I digress. Prices are very fair. All in all, it's pretty obvious what I think of the shop and all the people that work there. I've had nothing but great experiences with 1 Point. Robert has done jellyfish-tattoos for both my mom and I (they turned out amazing) and now he's in the process of redoing my side piece as well. He's very professional and I honestly can't see myself getting tattooed by anyone else. He's so talented with his designs and I get so many compliments on my Jellyfish. You're awesome, Robert! Just got my first tattoo from here. I really had no idea on how the whole process worked. I started off just messaging via yelp, and Kristine got back to me extremely fast. We shot a few messages back and forth, and I explained to her what I was looking to get. Based off of this, she kindly helped me out and guided me to Matt Yoshizu. I was requesting a pretty big tattoo with a relatively short deadline. It was a half sleeve tattoo of a samurai with a few special requests, and Matt kindly worked with me to get it done. Within a few days we were able to work everything out, and he absolutely slayed the tattoo! He managed to incorporate everything that I wanted in a sick format. I cannot speak highly enough of this shop. I went here to have an artist fix someone else's work.. which is already a super annoying thing to ask of a tattoo artist. Ash turned two terrible tattoos into masterpieces! She was quick, professional, friendly and her dog was good company!! Right after I was done getting fixed up, Kristine took me in the back to get a finger tattoo removed. Also super fast and relatively pain free with her new cryo machine that worked wonders! Both myself and my husband have been customers of 1 Point. We were both thrilled with our tattoos-Yvonne is a goddess with those needles! The shop itself is nice too. It was clean and comfortable. Every artist working there was really nice, and all of their tattoos looked amazing- there isn't a single artist at 1 Point that I wouldn't trust. Beware! Let me first start out by stating that I fully intend to post a totally honest review regarding this establishment. My sole purpose is to prevent any other individuals having to deal with the same negative experience that I went through. Upon original visit to the shop I was greeted by Owner (Simon) who seemed very personable and professional. He put me in touch with Matt. Matt quoted me 4 to 5 hours for my piece and assured me if I began the work he would have it complete prior to my vacation to Tahiti. I stressed to Matt that I didn't want to begin the work if it he wasn't going to have enough time. Matt reassured me that it would be no problem at all. Well needless to say 6 hours and 900 dollars and I'm not even 40 percent complete. Matt not only lied to me about the amount of time necessary but also left me with a junk tattoo once peeled. Additionally, he tried several times to sell me on a different piece of art than what was originally agreed upon. I went up to the shop to talk to owner (Simon) and we had a long conversation about my complaints. In the end we reached an agreement that a portion of the tattoo needed to be touched up and it would be done free of charge with the condition that I would let Matt continue despite the extremely far off estimate originally quoted me. Simon confirmed that the tattoo was abnormally light and needed touching up. We shook hands and went our separate ways. I went on my trip to Tahiti and called Simon like I had agreed to upon my return. Simon told me to stop by the shop so we could all discuss the way forward and ensure everyone understood. When I arrived at the shop Simon renegotiated and says he changed his mind and any work I wanted done from here on out would be 150/hour and he was not going to honor his original agreement with me. Truth is simon is not a man of his word who only cares about the money involved for himself. I got up and walked out the door. I've had many tattoos over the years and in many different states and never have I dealt with service like this. Tattoo was junk and owner (Simon) was given opportunity to make it right. To top it all off I was the one who was lied to and left with an incomplete tattoo. Owner then renegotiated and made me appear in front of his staff as though I was trying to get something for free when in reality I just wanted a certain piece of my tattoo touched up because it was so light. Any other parlor that I've been to in the past honors their work. In those locations I was paying 60-70 an hour and not one of them did I have to go back in for touchups and ten years later many of them still look new. I'm paying 150 an hour here in Hawaii and the artist nor the owner are willing to honor their art. I am speechless with the way the owner handled this situation and this is a true testament that the longevity of this establishment will most definitely not thrive. Additionally, I will be sharing with all of my friends and coworkers from this point on who ask me for referrals to tattoo establishments to steer clear of this location!!! I would also like to add an update that since the date I originally posted this review I have visited several other parlors in the area and they have all confirmed that the tattoo is unusually light and incomplete. Yes the shop charges $100 fee minimum and a whopping $4 if you use a credit card. The bad reviews on this page are by those who do not appreciate the art of tattooing. If you want a cheap tattoo don't go to a quality shop. I was referred to him and am so glad I found him. I don't think I would have felt as comfortable with another artist doing my first tattoo.
