Listed on the Mississippi Blues Trail, this is historical for people of color, a fraternal order to help others in need and now supports musicians and artists. Lovely place.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

Not good at all…read more Ordered 1/2# brisket + 1/2# pulled pork + 1/2 rack of baby-back ribs + a pint of beans & a pint of cole slaw + some original BBQ sauce = $68. The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

In town for a few hours on business, & as usual, I researched a restaurant to try…read more Went at approx 3p on a weekday for a late lunch; ample, free parking lot newly resurfaced directly in front of of the establishment. Initial impressions: wow, this entire place is the color black, as in too black, floors, walls, ceilings, and, everyone is seated & being served in the front area. I clearly recall thinking to myself that my attendance will be lack luster; I elected a standard height booth, located only in the back area. Sometimes I do loathe to be right based on experience alone & this was no exception. A lovely female server verbally assured me that she'd attend to me in just a moment. Unfortunately, my experience was that she'd offer water/ drinks when she had fully attended to all of the patrons in the front area. By the time she did, it was clear that she felt relief to have settled the business, for the moment, of the front- dining customers, now able to address my visit. I've lived in Biloxi for a few years & felt confident that my expectations of Jacks were adjusted for the area. The wine offerings were equivalent to middle-bottom grocery store shelf; no thank you. I ordered the Jackimo & Bayou rolls; I like sushi. Given my druthers, I'd eat it for all three daily meals. Definitely agree wholeheartedly with the few other reviewers that these rolls are almost nothing but solid, not good quality sushi rice. One tiny crossection of a crawfish, cream cheese, and a shrimp, measuring 1/2 an inch in diameter, is the only part of my rice loaf that is not, well, rice. How dare you, Owner of Jacks, charge SO entirely much for the nearly non-existent "sushi centers"?! Shame on you for delivering the verbiage of the actual contents of these...loaves of rice, as bountiful flavor bombs. No amount of sauce drizzle will compensate for the utter lack of...ingredients other than rice. I do totally get why Pgoula patrons like the hodgepodge menu which lacks a clear identity, genuinely. 'Sushi rolls' are grossly overpriced; wine menu offers a poor & tiny selection. Not at mid-volume of diners, the poor server could not manage to help this first time customer feel definitively as the afterthought once the front room was pacified. I honestly think that this eatery meets the tone and vibe of Pgoula & locals clearly show their enjoyment of it with repeat business. It offers a great weekday sushi roll special, if you're into their versions. Try not to sit beyond the front dining, bartop tabletops & consider yourself warned of the very sticky floors. I'm glad the locals enjoy Jacks; it's begging to be an episode of Restaurant Impossible. I wish it the best.

The atmosphere is inviting and old. The service from the cute hostess, to Nicole our server to the fantastic conversation with Richard the manager was so authentic and such a positive vibe. So glad we had an opportunity to reserve tickets (highly recommend you do) for this intimate musical experience. It highlights the incredible talent, creativity, passion and FUN these artists have for jazz and their instruments. Feeding off each other's energy and really had you moving in your seat. Front seats are WORTH the money!! Each artist got to highlight a song of their choosing and each one ATE! They left no crumbs. I must have been a smiling fool in the 2nd row seats, but music, personally, is the best way to get through me. Years in music myself, I understand the dedication and commitment it takes. You FEEL that here when they are on stage performing. Jazz and its spontaneity and history is the cornerstone to Preservation Hall. I LOVE that there is no recording/picture taking allowed (unless the artists strictly tell you otherwise). It helps keep their art intact but helps immerse yourselves with them into their craft. Living in the moment. The last song they kindly let us record/take pictures and I will treasure them until I can come back. Side note: that trumpeter (I believe his name was Will?) has a VOICE as smooth as velvet and I was mesmerized. Video shows a brief moment of the night.

The second floor is family friendly and both floors boast beautiful water views. They often have live bands and it is always entertaining. The servers and staff are always very kind and friendly. On my most recent visit, I came with a large group and we were served by Ashley who did an amazing job! The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. I did a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and it was great. I also tasted my sisters tacos and nachos which were excellent. We had a really nice time and I know we will be back. I do wish they served triple tail which is such a great fish and would make the namesake make sense. Maybe one day!!

Ordered Shrimp Nachos - literally had nachos (burnt), a few shrimp and cheese. None of the toppings. Our poor waitress was apologetic. She quickly went back to the kitchen to bring out the toppings so we could put them on top. I don't remember what anyone else ordered, but everyone had a complaint about the lack of flavor. Our waitress even said that if we ordered Royal Reds, to be sure to ask for extra seasoning on the side. I ordered a chicken sandwich and I was happy with it. I asked for a side salad instead of fries. They forgot the side salad. Again, the waitress noticed that right away and quickly went back to grab my salad. Our waitress was friendly, very quick and attentive. The ambiance was great. It was a great breeze overlooking the bay. I'm giving two stars for our waitress and ambiance. Everything was not worthy of a star. I really wouldn't recommend this tourist trap.
