Based on my first impression, I think they need a lot of work. My experience was good...once I had their attention. But I imagine any decent business owner would understand that the entire experience and service from beginning to end is crucial and important for any prospective customer. I first tried to reach out to them via phone to ask a simple question about their online jewelry inventory. I live nearly an hour from their shop, so I thought I'd save myself some time. I probably tried to call at least 15-20 times over the course of 3 days. No one ever picked up. (I made sure it was during their business hours) Maybe I'm old school, but if you're not ever going to answer your phone, why even have it listed on your site or google. Luckily, I'm not too old school and thought to reach out via instagram. Boom! Response within 24 hours. I feel bad for all the customers that don't assume IG is the best and most efficient way to contact them, then again this is 2023. I eventually decided to pay a visit to their shop. I stood at the door respecting the sign that mentioned limiting clients inside. I had 1-3 employees look directly at me without so much as offering a smile let alone a greeting. After a few minutes, I realize there is a mandatory QR code sign in process. Thanks for the tip! (As I stand there looking like a deer in headlights). Again...old school? So I follow the prompts. I actually commend them on their use of technology to manage their clientele, that being said it was one of the most tedious processes I could imagine. Requiring you to seemingly go through a myriad of prompts and false movement in "line" just to get through the door. I think I ended up waiting at least 2 hours, 1.5 of them outside in the cold until I retreated to my car, not realizing it would be that painfully long. The website then prompted me to the front because it was "my turn"! So I proceed to the door only to have employees once again look at me without acknowledgment. WTF! I'm not about to wait any longer in the cold again, so I speak up and ask "how much longer will it actually be because your app said it was my turn and if it's not actually my turn, I'm going to go back to my car until you're ready for me" :) Surprise, I was let in. Now, once I was through the door, my experience was awesome! They were extremely attentive, patient, and friendly. If only this had been the majority of my experience. And that being said, I ended up spending like 3+ hours and my entire weekend afternoon trying to get in here to merely look at jewelry (didn't even get anything pierced, which would have made this whole debacle maybe slightly more worth it). Clearly they are becoming an extremely successful local business, which is great! But with that, I think they could use some improvements. First off, maybe hire some sort of receptionist. Someone at the front who can at least answer phones and greet people or fill those in on the waiting process that are unfamiliar or have questions. And maybe provide more helpful insight upfront about the waiting process on their signage or through the website. I'm sure there are those that disagree, but I guarantee I'm not going to be the only person that shares or has shared a similar first impression that unfortunately resulted in quite a bit of disappointment. read more

I got my second lobe piercings a few weeks ago with my best friend; had had been trying to come here for four years, and we finally made it happen! I got my first lobe piercings done when I was just months old, so I was nervous for this one even if I was nearly 18, especially because I have vasovagal syndrome which makes me prone to fainting. But John De La Torre made me feel so comfortable, safe, taken care of, and listened to. I even got complimentary water and a lollipop. He did such a quality job, and he made sure I was not left out of the loop and knew what was happening. I love my new piercings. I am very thankful that a true professional was the one to poke holes into my ears! And not only him, but all of the workers here were just the sweetest people. I went in and had a great experience getting my helix pierced. Unfortunately I was not told that I would need a stud before a hoop but apparently this is common knowledge. I came here a few months ago to get my helix pierced and I had a good experience up until I actually got pierced. The piercer had pierced my ear at an angle and used way too short of a bar. I accepted the fact it was done wrong and let it go. I also have another one already to reference too which is how i noticed it was just a bad job done. I was constantly cleaning like instructed and i have several piercings so I know how to take care of them. This was my first time at 101 Piercing and definitely my last. Definitely not worth the price either. The way John explained everything to my daughter in terms of what he would be doing to pierce her ears and what to expect, she wasn't even nervous. I was more nervous than she was! I recommend paying extra to have both sides done at the same time. They run a tight ship. They required IDs from my daughter and I and asked her a few questions to confirm that her birth certificate matched who she really is. We chose small diamond earrings for her and they look great. Tiny place we went to get my daughters ears pierced. Thought it was crazy they needed a birth certificate but whatever. Jewelry selection is nice if pricey but all quality nothing cheap looking. Everything was immaculately clean and very organized. Only drawback was it was pretty warm with the doors open but it was an uncommonly warm day. The counter girl was helpful and friendly and patient and able to manage her time between the 6 people milling about very efficiently. I can't believe I didn't get the guy's name who pierced her ears but he was very quiet and kind. Explained everything we were going to do and why and was compassionate about having to manhandle and hold down the baby. She hated to be held down (to be straight, hubby held her in his arms but we had to hold her hands and head still we weren't sitting on her or something) but the piercing its self didn't seem to bother her. As soon as we let her go for each side she was smiling and ceased her tears. The next day they are not even red like you see a lot of times of you go to a germ infested Claire's. I think they are perfectly placed, he went through a lot of time to make sure they were even. He also seems to have tons of experience doing kids/babies. I would make the trip down here again if I needed something else done. And I would absolutely recommend other moms looking for a place to do clean, safe ear piercing for their little ones. read more

I came here on my birthday and was pleased with the shop's QR code check-in, customer service, social distancing, and sanitation measures. In addition, I loved that the shop carried high quality jewelry from Body Vision Los Angeles (BVLA) and Industrial Strength (IS) jewelers. (((These two jewelers are top of the line when it comes to quality of metal (i.e. titanium and gold) and style!))) Upon arrival, you walk up to the main entry to scan the QR check-in code and fill out personal information. If it's your first time, you fill out a brief digital waiver form consenting to being pieced. After, you receive a text message stating your current place in line. Then, you wait in the shop's patio area to await your name being called (you also receive a shop confirmation text when it's your turn to be seen). I waited for maybe 15-20 minutes before my name was called (thankfully, I arrived RIGHT before a huge influx of customers arrived...birthday luck? lol). When my name was called, I was *permitted* into the shop's lobby to view the extensive jewelry collection. Only one client at a time is allowed in one-by-one: brilliant (a great social distancing measure in light of COVID-19 and the evolving variants). I had around 15-20 minutes to view the jewelry, while Bradlee donned gloves and engaged in sanitation measures while preparing the piercing room for the next client (me!). Sanitation procedure included disinfecting the client chair, Bradlee's work station, and the room's door handles. When the room was prepped, I was welcomed in and had a brief chat with Bradlee about what size (gauge) piercing would be fitting for me. He made the *right* call on my behalf. Then, it was go time! He calmed me by telling me to breathe deeply and relax while being pierced. He made sure to give me a head's up before the piercing went in. The piercing was relatively painless and I'm happy to have been comforted by Bradlee throughout the process. The placement of my piercing is indicative of Bradlee's half a decade of experience. Dude killed it. Big shoutout! I am satisfied with my overall experience at 101 Piercing and will definitely return in the future! read more

This place is expensive for the quality. Came here to get a second ear lobe piercing done. 3 weeks, The post has completely come out and the backing of my piercing sunken in my ear. That is because the disc was so small. I noticed this while they were closed on Wednesday and Thursday, so I said that if I come on Friday when they open at 12, I can have my piercer to look at it. I call 2x on Friday Morning at 12 pm, no one answered the phone. I wanted to call and ask about my concerns. I walk in at 1 pm, I inquired about my concerns, the girl was so rude to me! Her customer service was horrible after I just told her the piercing I got done by her, was about to fall out and that it's sunken in. I literally just wanted a jewelry removal. I understand the high volume and concept of waiting line, which I had no problem with. If she was more professional, she would have apologized and said that she could take care of me whenever she had the time. But she didn't. Instead I received complete unprofessionalism. I asked her how I can join the waiting list for a jewelry removal, how much it cost, and overall the process. And she just rolled her eyes and said "Get in line. Ummmm i don't know there's like a button you can press to get in line." I've come to this small business for YEARS since highschool, and I won't come here again. Both ears became so infected we had earrings surgically removed at Urgent Care. She's been in extreme pain and on both topical and oral antibiotic. Went in today to get my 3year old daughter ears pierced. Brad was very attentive to our needs, answered every question we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I went in a day prior to with my daughter to feel out the environment and see how comfortable she was in the shop. Brad literally rolled out the red carpet for her! He interacted with her like they were best buds, showed her and asked which earrings ( which they have a big selection of ) she wanted, sat her in the chair and showed her around the shop. Mind you this was a day prior to. Went in the next day, and my daughter was super comfortable with Brad right off the bat. It was something that I would have never expected and super surprised to experience. When it came time to do the piercing, his experience showed right away. I was set at ease instantly when I seen how comfortable he was making my daughter feel with his playfulness attitude whilst preparing her for the piercing. Brad and his wife did a fantastic job. My friend had got a piercing here before, and thats why I know of this place. I recently got a septum piercing here during Covid. Really clean spot. The service was awesome. I was in and out in no time. During the Covid era, they were the only piercing place in San Diego doing walk-ins. They would have you fill out a waiver application(?) to be placed in the waiting line. I live about 10 mins away, so I left, went home, and came back in 2 hours (given the amount of people ahead of me, with average amount of time with each person). On my arrival back, my name was called. I was in and out in less than 15 mins. I knew exactly what ring I wanted, they showed me my options, and within 10 mins, I was directed into the room to be pierced. Bradlee pierced me, and was really good at keeping me calm (I've had plenty of piercings before, but he had a very calming nature, even though he was very fast at what he was doing). 1 star less for not knowing exactly how much I was spending until after I got pierced. A septum piercing for over $150. Recommended if you have the money. read more

I got my firsts pierced here when I was little, They have been the best piercings I ever got. Bradley the owner was so careful about placement and he is such a good piercer that you don't even feel it. I recently got my seconds pierced at a different shop and they were so bad. I had chosen the new place it because it was cheaper, I ended up having to get it fixed by Bradley because they were so bad. I wish I had just paid a little more because you are truly paying for a really good piercing, and amazing customer service. read more

Coming to see Bradlee and Andrea makes me so happy. I came here recently with my friend and we both decided to get both nipples pierced! Crazy... I know, but my motto for 2018 is to "take chances" and so I decided why not! It's been something that I've been wanting for a long long time and so now was my time! They truly care about how you are doing and want to make you comfortable so when you go to sit in the chair to get your piercing. What I love about the dynamic duo is that they are perfectionist! When I was getting the dots drawn to see where my nipple piercing would sit, Bradlee must have spent about 3-4 minutes just drawing the dot over and over again to make sure that it looked good to his standards and that I was happy with how they would sit as well!
