They have hundreds of artists create pieces live in front of you throughout the event and then they auction off the pieces to fund the studio. I was immediately intrigued and addicted. We have been every year since. Since that first event, St. Louis City Open Studios and Gallery has become one of my top "kid friendly" places in this city. They offer fun and educational art-centered classes for kids as well as open studio hours six days a week. Your "little" can learn how to throw some clay onto a wheel, string their own necklace, or illustrate their own book. My personal favorite is the kid and me class on Saturday afternoons. For one hundred bucks you get six weeks of uninterrupted quality family time with all of the art supplies as well as an art instructor provided. Who knows...you may have given birth to the next Picasso and never have known it with all that time they spend on the Wii. I am all for getting out and getting hands on and SCOSAG provides the perfect environment for good ole fashion fun. Love Live Creativity!

Over the course of a very fun couple hours, we were guided in creating unique and beautiful still life paintings while enjoying sipping wine, listening to music, and chatting. We needed a child care option on short notice and chose this school because of a recommendation from a friend, the Spanish classes and the affordable tuition and ended up being so thrilled with our choice that we drove him 40 minutes each way for his final year of preschool after we moved to Illinois. Our last year at the school was with Mrs. Stacy and she is by far the best teacher we could have ever imagined. Each morning she personally greets each of the children like they really matter, takes an interest in their interests, engages them, keeps a stable routine and is patient. Entering kindergarten, my son knows all of the letters and sounds, recognizes numbers, can count to 1000, can write all of the letters, writes his name, can read about 500 sight words, can sound out many words that he doesn't know from sight, knows Spanish color words and number words and so much more! We were not members of the church, but that did not change the way they treated our son in their care. I can't say enough great things about TGCA preschool!

What we've found is a wonderful program where our son has developed into a curious and imaginative boy. I attribute some of this to the fact that the children are exposed to different subjects and topics, the artwork that comes home is truly his own (not done by the teacher) and they are given responsibility appropriate for their age. I am glad we found Samuel for our son and are excited that we have just enrolled our younger son in their young 2's program this January. They are sweet to my son and are always encouraging to him! Their meals are healthy and give the children opportunity to try anything and everything. They change diapers every few hours whether the child really needs one or not to keep the child dry at all times. My son started talking around a year but in the past year and a half his language has blown me away. They work everyday to teach the kids something new. If your looking for a school that will really get your child ready to go to kindergarten, while also giving him love and support this is the school for you. I also have to brag on the administration. They are all amazing and have helped me with any problems or information I've needed. As such, in the early years, some parents (usually those with more of a customer service expectation mindset) didn't understand that, as a relatively new charter school with such a special model and mission, there is a learning curve in terms of institutional operations and processes. Personally, we are perfectly willing to support to that evolution (which has been totally positive) in exchange for the important benefits that this school offers. We chose The French School at SLLIS because we want our child to be not just conversationally proficient in a foreign language but academically literate and culturally competent. Our son (9) speaks, reads, and writes in two languages and is developing multi-disciplinary critical thinking skills promoted through the International Baccalaureate inquiry-based pedagogy model. We also value the diversity of the student population for our child's social development and readiness for the "real world." The teachers have a truly unique professional skill set and competence that you won't find anywhere else in St. Louis, and the entire faculty, staff, and leadership team is wholly dedicated to the success of our kids and the school. We love it. Highly recommend!

The policies are not enforced. The school is very behind by means of their curriculum and don't have a program in place for gifted students. Be very weary!
