My husband and I were staying in Oak Park for a night. In the morning, we did a stroll for coffee, shops, and architecture viewing. As we were walking, my husband pointed out a dress shop. I looked, and realized he had pointed it out because it looked like it was my style. When I walked in, it was totally just my style. It was mostly dresses, with some pants, jeans and tops, as well as accessories....with a few other gift items. I had a party to attend a week later, and was traveling, so didn't have access to my whole wardrobe, and was in desperate need of a dress. The dresses in 16 Suitcases ranged from business casual, to weekend brunch dress, to evening fancy. I felt the prices were pretty reasonable for the dresses. I did briefly look at the accessories, which I do think were a bit overpriced. Anyway, I found several dresses that I loved, but narrowed them down to a couple of possibilities when I decided to try the dresses on. The staff was friendly and helpful. I found the perfect dress for the party, It was also one that I felt I could wear throughout the summer. Extremely Disappointed - Faulty Product & No Accountability I purchased earrings from 16 Suitcases on July 19th and asked about the return policy at checkout -- I was told 7 days. The next day, I came back because the earrings were clearly faulty (they wouldn't unlatch nor could I get them off the label). I was then told there's a no returns on earrings policy -- something that was never mentioned and not posted anywhere in the store. I left the earrings with the shop in hopes the owner would review them and see the issue firsthand. Over the next 3-4 weeks, I called weekly, left voicemails, and spoke with multiple staff members -- no one ever got back to me. I called again last week and was told the owner would reach out. It's now been 5 more days, and still nothing. I've been patient and respectful throughout, but this level of disregard is unacceptable. The store has both my money and the faulty earrings -- and I've received no explanation, no resolution, and no follow-up. I truly feel I've been taken advantage of. Clothes run on a large spectrum from overly ornate to just the right amount of flair. I believe the prices are a bit on the high side but on point for a small town boutique store (this is not Target after all). I walked into the store after my teen and their friend were already inside. It was very quiet in there since we were the only ones in the store other than one other customer who was being helped by the store owner/employee. I received no greeting or offer of help. Instead the store person asked me to remove my coat from the couch near the changing rooms and to hang it up on a rack that looked that it was for those items you don't want to buy after trying on. I had put my stuff down so I could look at the clothes more thoroughly in that sale area and did not think anything of it. After all, there's no signage about hanging coats or couch usage. My bag and coat were off to the side and not blocking most of the seating area of the couch, and I was no more than 5 feet away from the couch. Found her to be a bit uppity because she looked annoyed that I put my stuff down. She didn't make eye contact with me but she did grab my coat and lifted it but looked further annoyed that my shoulder bag was underneath it so she disgustingly let go of my coat. I smiled and chuckled because I thought she overreacted and I apologized but I didn't get any response from her. I felt unwelcomed after this interaction so I quickly put on my coat, grabbed my bag, and left the store. The teens agreed that she could have handled that a little more hospitably than she did. Anyway, I hope others had a better experience than I did. I might return but I would expect no service or courtesy from this person if she's in there. Probably wouldn't want the help with clothing choices though because she picked an odd outfit for that one other person in the store. read more

I'm really not sure who the target demographic for this store is. A lot of the clothing looks targeted toward teens, but then a lot of it looks like fancier dress or work wear. I am a curvy woman, and I have found a few pieces from this boutique, but almost everything runs very small or straight-sized. Pricing can also be quite high. read more

Full disclosure I came here with my girlfriend and did not purchase a single item (they only sell women's clothes) but she did. The service was exquisite. The owner, Michelle, helped us personally and was very helpful with sizing issues and finding unique, cute pieces. You can tell she cares a lot about her store and customers. However, Natalie (I believe to be her name) quickly assisted me in finding not only one outfit for that evening, but two others as well! Her style and ability to assess what I needed quickly was impeccable. She truly helped me have an amazing night, and feel stylish and confident as well! Tell me you don't want my money without telling me you don't want my money. Visited the store twice. 1st was before Thanksgiving and I went to look at a few gift items at the front. Wasn't greeted upon entering. When I asked about the price of an item, the clerk didn't know and legit tried calling the owner on her cell phone unsuccessfully for a price check. I had some more errands to run so I said I would be back on Black Friday. She agreed and said there would be sale on a lot then. Went back on Black Friday. Saw owner and same clerk talking on the floor. No greeting once again. I noticed the price was on the items I checked out before. I asked if they were on sale, the clerk said "I don't think so but coats are 30% off and that the other things were not on sale at least not right now. I spent $53 for them to send the wrong purse and a belt I didn't really want. Ordering from 16 Suitcases is one of the worst experiences I've ever had shopping online.... and I only shop online.  When I originally placed my order, I was so excited to buy this specific Mona B handbag they advertised on their website- the "Everyday Crossbody." I did not receive the item I ordered. After sending messages on their website and calling the shop a few times (never got a message or call back), I finally got ahold of the owner 4-5 weeks later who told me my handbag had been picked up accidently by a vendor or someone associated with a vendor?? I'm not really sure. She was nice and told me she would send it right away and would also send a complementary belt for my troubles. I thought that was great! The problem is that they sent me the wrong handbag. I called twice, left voicemails to let them know that I never got the correct bag and I have yet to get a call back. That has been several weeks ago. But here is the most BIZARRE part: One of times I called the store, I talked with an employee and it's difficult to describe how this girl went out of her way to waste my time! First, she told me I had the wrong phone number. She said 16 Suitcases is the shop next door. I understand NOW that they are connected and owned by the same person. But at the time, she didn't explain that to me at all. I asked her if she could give me the number to the shop next door- 16 Suitcases. She told me she couldn't find the number for 16 Suitcases but she would find it and call me back with the correct number. I thought that was very nice of her. However, when she called back she gave me the exact number I had just dialed. I told her it was the same number and she told me it was not the same number. REALLY?? We went round and round a little as she clung to her story that the number she gave me was different from the number I had called ... even though I was sitting there looking at two identical numbers! I finally told her she was probably right just so I could hang up the phone. My next step was to, of course, call the exact same number again. This time, hand to God, she answered by saying "16 Suitcases." I thought I was either in the Twilight Zone or she was insane. When I said hello, she said these EXACT words in a sheepish tone of voice - "Hi, ... yeah this is Anna again. Obviously the stores are connected and the phone works for both." Then in a normal tone of voice she said "So now that you're calling on the correct line, how can I help you?" This is truly the most insane experience I've ever had with anyone in retail! I received the best customer experience from Drew. I always get fantastic service, but this was beyond expectations. She put together an outfit for me that I have to say, I was unsure of to begin with - I have received more compliments on the outfit Drew picked than I ever have before.
