I've managed to find little hair trinkets here, but most of the clothes are geared toward senior citizens and they are extremely expensive!

Poor service before pandemic and remains as such. The owner is not a nice person at all. Negative vibes in the shop.

Not a friendly reception when you walk in, but the owner kept a close eye on everything I touched. There were beautiful items to choose from but were waaaaaay too expensive. Stylish but flimsy, I can't see charging those prices. If she survives this recession good for her, but I couldn't if I shopped there. I will spend money but 400 for a top? A wonderful shopping experience every time I step inside Filoni's.The selection of clothing ranges from casual to formal with elegant ease. Accessories and jewelry are suggested to transform any piece to chic and original. The staff is very helpful. They know the inventory well in terms of sizing that will fit you and in terms of which pieces will co ordinate with the piece you have chosen. In particular, Shari and Marissa are very creative in choosing complimentary items to take the outfit to another level. Both women have a great eye for design and style. I finally have time to write about Filoni's, (I'm done with teaching and my night classes are all done too:-). My daughter brought me here at my request for Mother's Day, because I've always admired their clothing from the window. They seem to flow, (a.k.a. - hide the shape of real moms) and is on the avante garde side of life. That being said - what was I thinking? Talk about being out of ones league. We were way out in deep space! My children had taken me for brunch at Winberies and I had a mimosa - okay, maybe two, (I don't normally drink and this is a good reason not to). Note to self - stay away from the drinks that taste like juice - They are not just juice! I was feeling happy! It was Mother's Day and I had my three oldest ones of six with me and I was the queen for the day - no dishwashing for me! My oldest had given a gift of a hundred dollars to spend and I thought I should be able to find something nice for my nephews wedding that was upcoming - by golly I hadn't gotten anything new in years! And never anything from a fancy shop. When we walked in we were met by a young woman who could tell that I was not in my right mind - still she was pleasant and her voice was very soothing and she appealed to my - you deserve this mom - side. I thought I had picked out a nice outfit for a fair price, only to find out that it was being rung up for so much more... Here comes the part; I'm not in my right mind - part! I agreed with this smooth talking woman that I deserved this nearly 500 dollar outfit. Good Lord - help me! This dear of a young woman should be highly paid because she convinced me that I was going to have at least three outfits in one and again reiterated that "I deserved it". Boy, did I have a bad case of buyer remorse the next day - hence their no return policy only exchanges. BUT, I did check the price. But only did I notice the other tags when I got home... Yes, boys and girls, I was out of my league. Never will I darken Filloni's again. I can not stomach, (no pun intended - really) paying for an outfit that if the money were used for food could feed a family of four for at least, a month, (back in the day folks, I fed my family of 8 on about as much per month). Is Filoni's a good boutique? Certainly - just not for common folk - normal people. How many people do I know who have 500 dollars to spend on an outfit - ZIP. Spending 100 is even over the board. Is this the fault of Filoni's? No. But somehow, I do feel taken advantage of by this woman - because in reality I was just another sale. She didn't care that I was not her usual clientele. Once upon a time when I had been a cashier, I would always steer folks to the "better buy" - customers were usually happy and returned to shop again. I don't think this woman cares that I won't be back - she already has my daughter's money, and my second oldest's money and the third oldest, AND my money - why should she even blink or think twice? Ask me on the average day what I'm wearing, nine times out of 10, it's been purchased at Filoni. If you're looking for something different, stop here. With designers including Crea, Three Dot, URU, you're bound to find what you'r looking for. And the accessories are incredible. The owner, Shari, is the salt of the earth. And her staff is sweet and incredibly helpful. Whenever I go in, they always make great suggestions and are super respectful. Oak Park just seems to attract these upscale artsy clothing shops. Like Italian restaurants, there seems to be no end to the demand. Whenever a new one opens I think the market *must* be saturated, but it never is. Anyway, when Filoni opened up in the former Camille et Famille space on Oak Park Avenue, I wondered if they could succeed where Camille had not. I hope so, because this store has some really interesting stuff. There is a small men's section, a small selection of handcrafted jewelry, and a nice large sale rack (that was still a bit more than I could afford). The staff was friendly and helpful, even though I was really just looking. I had a minute to chat with the owner and learned that the store moved here from Union Pier, MI, and I had actually visited it while vacationing there. I always remember a store outside the North Shore that carries Judaica. The Oak Park store is smaller and doesn't, have the space for the housewares and objects d'art she had in Michigan, but does have a nice line of clothing from Israel. read more

I needed black earrings for a wedding, and I went walking around downtown Oak Park. All the other botiques were skewed a bit older than I am, but the person behind the register helped me find several options, and the prices were reasonable! If I had more time, or more disposable income, I'd be back to shop around in a heartbeat. read more

Purchased a small flask that leaked from the first use. Paid cash - brought it in to exchange for one that wasn't defective. Sales person inferred that I must have punctured it because the product has been selling very well with no complaints. Perhaps the purchasing customers haven't used the flasks yet...it is an as need product. She refused to exchange this very small item because it was used?.... What do they do when you have spent hundreds on something else that's defective. Customer service definitely needs improvement. read more

This store has some great clothes, and I've bought several items there on more than one occasion, but I hate the shopping experience so much that I'm not going to put myself through it ever again. No matter if you ask for privacy, or ask the sales people to allow you to make up your own mind about how you look in the clothes, they ignore the requests. The store has dressing rooms separated from the store and customers by only a flimsy curtain that gaps open in several places. It's difficult to dress and undress without opening the curtain by the movements of your elbows and knees. And the sales people yank open the curtain for a look, despite being asked not to do so. The last time I was in the store, I'd worked myself up into a nervous frenzy, anticipating the inevitable surprise "reveal" and unwelcome commentary. Sure enough, about the time I'm pulling a sweater over my head (standing in my bra and panties), the owner yanked open the curtain with a, "Let me see!". In a snit, I yanked it closed again, stating that I'd asked for privacy. She got angry and said it was her store and she could do whatever she wanted. Well, she's right. And since I'm the customer, I can do what I want, and that's to never shop there again. For those who like upscale and unusual clothes, I recommend Takara on Marion (Oak Park), French Twist in Three Oaks, MI, and Sandra Webster in Geneva. They all provide wonderful clothes and wonderful sales professionals who know how to treat their customers with respect. read more

This is one of those boutiques that has one star for good reason. I should have known better than to recommend a look inside for a long time friend of mine. THIS PLACE IS THE PITS. Great sales technique. No warning whatsoever about returns which are non-existent. I brought a dear friend who then wanted to return a small item in favor of a larger item. How stupid can a store be? The item wanted was three times the price of the now-unwanted item. No return? No more customer. Later that day, we drove up to Nordstrom's in Old Orchard. Gorgeous wearable, beautifully designed clothes and store policy ? Wonderful. ONE MORE IMPORTANT RULE: DO NOT BUY AT FILONI UNLESS YOU ASK WHAT THEIR RETURN POLICY IS. THEY HIDE THEIR POLICY ON A FADED RUBBER STAMPED FASHION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RECEIPT. MY FRIEND'S WAS PRACTICALLY ILLEGIBLE. THEY USE ANCIENT RECEIPT BOOKS LIKE FROM THE 1950' 60'S. THEY CHARGE AN ARM AND A LEG BUT ARE SO BEHIND ON THEIR SALES SLIPS. read more

The only reason I didn't give this shop one star is because the salesperson tried to be helpful (not the owner, who is somewhat snobby ). For a store that is this expensive to have a no refunds policy is really disrespectful of the consumer. Moreover, they don't tell you that they don't issue refunds. You can discover that later at the bottom of the receipt. It's really easy to shop for high-quality items at other stores that appreciate their customers so there's no reason to come to this one. read more

Filoni's has a $$$$ evaluation beneath their name here in Yelp. That translates to 'Ultra high end.' Okay. So ask yourself this: If you, the customer, are dropping several thousand dollars on an outfit, are you okay with dressing rooms that open out directly onto the sales floor - where anyone including other womens' husbands (or whatever) are milling about - being equipped with the flimsiest of curtains that cannot be closed completely and that flap open both at the center and at the sides? And when you ask where you might get a look at the back view of the ultra-high-end garments you are trying on, a salesperson hands you a 3" x 5" hand mirror? I'm trying on a $500 tunic top that can't be returned for a refund and you expect me to be okay with checking out the look and the fit in a hand mirror? SERIOUSLY? (There is a strict return policy here - and NO refunds, so make that micro-view count, my friends). If that doesn't phase you, you also might want to be on the lookout for ultra-helpful sales staff that coo at you when you pop out of said dressing rooms in your try-on, saying "Oh, don't worry about what other people say. You should be dressing for yourself!" when you express doubt about a color that makes your skin appear corpse-like or a fit that rivals a sausage casing. I suppose there are women who thrive in an environment like this, and for them, Filoni's will be heaven. For myself, I give them two stars (I've experienced better), because yes, the clothing they carry IS beautiful and well-curated, albeit highly over-priced (seriously, it can be had elsewhere for 2/3 the cost here). But with that kind of philosphy toward customer service, it's a no for me. Spend some of that outrageous markup on some half-decent heavy curtains for your fitting rooms, Filoni, and attach a few inexpensive clips to allow the customer to properly close them when trying on clothing. Not all of us want to put on a show for strangers. Or for you, for that matter. And place one full-length three-way mirror somewhere near the dressing rooms so customers can get a realistic idea of what that pricey finery looks like on them. As it is now, I'm willing to bet you lose a ton of repeat business from customers who get their 'ultra high end' clothing home and get a look in a decent mirror, without all the sales-oriented sweet talk. read more

In my entire life I have never experienced the crass rudeness that the owner of this shop subjected me to today. This woman cuts her customers with her cruelty. She took my clothing selections out of the fitting room before I could try them on and said: "You will tear these, you are too big to try them on. So, I have left in the fitting room the clothes I will allow you to try on." And she took my selections away. I was so embarrassed, so stunned and, frankly, so hurt, I turned on my heel and fled from the store. I couldn't even speak. I work hard for my money, I assume you work hard for your money- why on earth would we let someone insult us, hurt us and demean us before taking our money from us? It goes without saying I will never put myself in that situation again and I am offering you a sincere warning, this is beyond insulting, she is nasty, she is hostile and she is cruel. Be good to yourself. Be forewarned and shop where people are kind. There is not one thing in her store worth spending one moment in her presence. Boycott this store. read more

I recently moved to Oak Park and always try and support the local businesses. I have all the clothes and jewelry I need, but stopped in Filoni to take a look around. They have beautiful jewelry, but I prefer to buy things when they go on sale. I asked the sales girl about future sales and she said they have an annual jewelry sale in February. I decided to wait and take advantage of the sale. The day of the Women's March, the store had a 20% off one day sale. I went in and asked if the jewelry would have a bigger markdown during the February sale. The sales girl said she didn't know what the markdown percent in February would be and she doubted these particular earrings would be part of the sale. I decided to purchase them and a few days later they were 50% off. I went back to the store to see if I could get a price adjustment and the same salesgirl said no returns and no price adjustments. I ended up purchasing another pair of earrings at 50% off. As for the sales staff, one of the girls was very nice and helpful, the other young lady did not make me feel welcome. I tried engaging her in a conversation, but she seemed otherwise occupied. It's not so much that I didn't get a price adjustment, I am just feeling a little duped. Their inflexibility with the store policy shows poor customer service. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I was going to contact the owner, but after reading the reviews here on Yelp, I didn't think it was worth the effort. If I owned this store, I would take these reviews seriously and be more flexible with the store policy. read more

Business must be good for Filoni since they could turn away a new client. I found them about 3 weeks ago, spent over $1k, which is my usual clothing budget monthly, and was thrilled to find different styles. I went to make a return, fully intending to re-spend the money and probably more and they refused to accept the return since it was 12 days after policy. 10 day return policy, and only for store credit, no refunds......watch out when buying anything....and in today's retail world that is so very rare. I asked the two behind the counter for a credit to just re-spend, they just said No, policy. I asked them if the $1k I had already spent and the continuous repeat business shopper I would be was worth loosing it and their reply was to shrug their shoulders and say "sorry" and they could have cared less! I left and went to an office in their building, everyone asking about the bag and that shop....I made sure the 15 folks who work there do not shop there and I will share my experience with all the other local folks I know and encounter. So sad since in the end, they would not have lost $1 with and exchange or credit but did loose a lot more......like I said business must be great these days that they can turn it away:-(. I stopped in Filoni today while taking a long walk through downtown Oak Park during lunch time. I was immediately drawn to the jewelry in the back of the store, and that is where I spent the next 10 minute drooling over the beautiful, reasonably priced pieces. I ended up leaving with an amazing white plated vintage-inspired peony ring accented with diamonds and a center set pearl. I am in love! The gold band is adjustable, which is good for my size 5 finger, and it fits very nicely on my right hand. It is a bigger piece than I normally wear, but it is so fricken' unbelievable, that I simply can't take it off. I am home now, in my sweats and I am still wearing the ring! To top it all off the sales associates were super friendly and they have the cutest Labradoodle hanging around the checkout counter. I can't wait to go back to find more unique treasures! read more

Never thought that I'd buy anything here because the merchandise is pricey but at today's sale I bought a $135 skirt for $72.75 and it was worth it. The designer is Hazel and it's one of those items that is really fun to wear, but not trendy - it will last for years. I was surprised at this find, because it is tailored and a lot of the clothes at Filoni seem to be for women who want to hide their curves. The sales staff was helpful and not pushy. I'll try it again, but only during sales. read more

Danielle was an expert at choosing items that would be flattering to my body type--she quickly gathered several items around the store for me to try on, and they were all very flattering. Danielle had an extensive knowledge of different cuts, shapes, fabrics and styles of all the clothing in the store. I do not want to tell anybody not to shop here. They have a good selection of curated unique fashions at moderate to higher end price points. That is why I have shopped here in the past. However, this past weekend, I was there and being helped by a lovely salesperson. I had 2 pair of pants to try on, which combined probably cost about $400. The salesperson apologized for the 2 usual dressing rooms being full and asked if I minded using a 3rd one that is used for storage, so had some boxes in it. I didn't mind at all and was glad to not have to wait. There was also a table in there that she quickly moved out. At that point the owner ran over and started to berate the saleswoman about never moving things from the dressing room. This was not a quiet reminder about policy. This was full out yelling, bordering on abuse. I tried on the pants and liked them both. As I left the dressing room, the lovely salesperson asked if I liked them. I said that I liked both but wouldn't be buying them because the owner had been so rude to her. She said it was fine and she would be happy to write up the sale. I apologized to her for not wanting to pursue it further, and I left. I have waited to write this review until I was sure I wasn't just emotionally reacting to something that I would later realize was not that big of deal. Instead, the incident is making me madder and madder. I will not be going back there. BTW, I would have told the owner myself, but she had apparently left by the time I made the decision not to buy. read more

My far the most eclectic and versatile women's clothing store for all sizes, especially hard to fit women, in the suburbs. Filoni's has incredible service, selection and style. I can count on the salespeople there to treat me like their best and only client each time I'm there! The colors, textures and designs of the clothing carried are not found everywhere, and I am consistently surprised by the numerous compliments I receive for my beautiful clothing. I don't usually write reviews but the message needs to get out. If there were negative stars, I'd select all five. Except for their adorable shop dog (who can take all the credit for the one star that had to be selected to post), this store has HORRIBLE customer service! My mother and I were enjoying shopping together and trying on coats. I had to take my purse off of me to try one on. I placed it on the rack next to me. The store manager started to remove my purse and insisted on putting the small handbag behind the counter. She stalks you as you shop. Plan on being insulted. My suggestion is to walk three doors south to 'Only She' and shop there. They are great, better designs, and do carry some of the same designers. In addition to purchasing many items, we purchased the same coat for significantly less from their online store! 'Only She' made up for such the negative experience at Filoni's in Oak Park. This is my least favorite place to shop, and it's sad because I am always trying to patronize small local businesses. For starters, an item cost 20% MORE than the same item at Turley Road, a comparable shop in Andersonville. I go in to use some gift cards, and they buy me so little that I haven't been able to spend them. The staff tell you everything is cute and looks good on you, and are particularly unhelpful. Seriously the rudest service ever. I took a picture of a coat I loved to send to my husband for a Christmas present idea. I was reprimanded for taking the photo and rather than dropping it she continued by snidely saying "We are NOT a department store" What does that even mean? 0 STARS. My mother attempted to exchange a snagged, unwearable sweater. The first time trying to return it, the sales person sent it back to "the artist" and returned it in the practically the same condition. Next, they said the artist will re-make it. After weeks of waiting on a phone call from the witch of an owner, my mother returned to the store in order to find out what happened to her incredibly expensive sweater-the owner berated her and claimed she still had the sweater and it was never sent to the artist-essentially accusing her of stealing. Who has the time to not only return to a store on three separate occasions, but publicly fight with someone who clearly does not understand the concept of customer service and running a business???!!! It is unbelievable that this atrocious woman still owns and operates a business in Oak Park and no one in our family will be returning to this over-priced, hack house of a boutique. Do yourself a favor and go to Nordstrom, the prices are BETTER, the quality is incomparable, and the customer service is actually existent. read more

This is the only place to SHOP! Not only are the clothes beautiful, perfect for every figure, one of a kind, and fantastic quality, but the accessories and whole "feel" to the shop will make you feel beautiful as soon as you walk through the door. The staff is wonderful. Danielle, Jillian, Jane and Shari are helpful, sweet, never pushy, and so damn knowledgeable about what makes women look great! And the best is Cooper, the Puppy-in-Residence. Sure the prices on some clothing can be a bit high, but the quality is so fine (much better than other high-end shops), and the items so unique, that the prices are well worth it. They do have great sales if you can wait. Stop in and just take a look around - you will be hooked too. read more
