The Economy Shop is literally a Victorian style house with every room crammed with secondhand goods and antiques. They're only open 3-4 days a month from 9am-3pm, so you need to plan your visit. When you enter, you're handed a paper sheet that is divided into different categories of merchandise. When you go to each room, they total up whatever you want to buy from that given room. When you're completely done shopping, you pay at the far back of the house and exit. Prices are fair and you can find some great stuff here. The basement was one area that was overwhelming. Almost too much to look at and fully absorb. Tips for first time visitors: 1. Bring reusable bags or a tote bag. They will give you bags but a good sturdy bag will work to your advantage. 2. Parking is tricky. You're fine on residential streets but if you park along the train tracks, you have to feed a meter. $2.00 per hour. Card payment only. 3. Leave small kids at home. The rooms and hallways are too packed and tight to reasonably manage kids in tow. I like this place! I will be back!

Many special Chicago Items. Step into Grandma's Kitchen, all those wonder 1950's items are here. Many unique prints and treasures from Closets, Dining Rooms.... You must go inside and take a look. You most definitely are bound to find at least 1 nice treasure piece. I couldn't resist the Undisclosed book. I will return again and definitely recommend it. They accept Cash, Apple Pay, Card. I do love a good garage sale, and my kid loves shopping in vintage stores, so today we found…read moreourselves at Forest Park Emporium after our planned ice cream outing at the Brown Cow ice cream parlor, next door, ended too quickly. Sadly, the Brown Cow is closed for construction, so we missed out. We had already found parking, so instead of buying ice cream, we went treasure hunting next door. We had a lot of fun moving from one vendor area to the next as we worked our way around the store. It is very, very full of merchandise, but didn't feel super cramped. It would be harder to navigate if you are a larger size or if you need a walker or wheel chair. The aisles and vendor set-ups are narrow, so it does take some patience and balance to maneuver in and around. But everything is clean and well organized, so big plus there. And there is a massive amount of unique things. Smelled fine, too, not stuffy or smoky. The owner was walking around with a spray bottle, tidying up. Owners and customers all wore masks. 6-foot distancing marks are on the floor and additional signs are all around the shop, reminding shoppers about COVID precautions, which was appreciated. I think this would be a fun place to go on a masked, socially-distanced date! Ice cream + treasure hunting.

I rung the doorbell and a grumpy old man with glasses came to door. No hello, no verbiage. Either he has a vocal problem or didn't want to be bothered I couldn't figure it out. He reached for a bag I placed on the ground and took it inside. He came back and thought I was going to hand him the 2nd bag which I placed it on the ground for him. A short older guy came to assist and he took the luggage and 3rd bag. He told me to have a nice day but I requested a receipt. The grump man gave it to me. The shorter guy thanked me for the donation. I know these guys volunteer their time. I just can't deal with with rudeness at any age.

I wish they had more hours. But what they have offers enough time for me to shop there. Such a pleasant shopping experience! My Husband luvs the store too & trust me he is not into shopping. We both had a great time! The store is super neat & the prices are low to very fair. Push baskets to shop with. Enough room to browse around. Round racks for clothing so you don't have to be in a narrow isle & in someone's way. Dressing rooms if you need them. The clothes & other items are very nice. Not junk as other stores try to sell & for high prices. The prices are good & reasonable. I go for clothes & more. But they do have a very nice selection of furniture, dishes & house items, toys, shoes, nice coats & much more. This was my first time shopping at this wonderful store. I plan to go back as much as I can. I was lucky to be there when all blue tickets of clothes were only $1! Yes, $1!. You can't even buy anything at a $1 Tree store for $1 anymore! Some things are a bit pricey but not bad at all! I love shopping at store like this. Many people donate nice clothes etc. Also I luv finding different kinds of jackets, coats, tops & more that you do not see in chain stores. The staff is very friendly greeting waiting to get in customers with a cheerful "Good Morning" & so pleasant to deal with. For the holidays I see the store has extended hours. The down side is the regular hours are only 3 weekdays open from 10 am till 4 pm. But I will take it. I am retired so very lucky I can shop here & it is not super far for us to drive to. There is a huge parking lot in the back as well. I can't wait to shop here again. For some time I was shopping at another thrift store & 1 of the volunteers was so unpleasant & mean to me. So, It looks like they lost alot of my business. This is another reason I am so happy Gerry & I finally tried this store. We always drive by it & now we can shop here & find some nice things. Wow! What a great find!…read more I just happened to notice a vintage shop while I waited at a stop light. I visited my son and we decided to headover to check it out. The shop is filled with fun things. I loved the kitchy light up paintings. There were a ton of ashtrays, cocktail glasses, artwork, sculptures, furniture and more. The prices were very reasonable too. The owners were so nice. Melissa was so friendly and chatted with us about all kinds of things. I will definitely return to see what items they have gotten in and also to chat with the owners again. This shop is a great place for anyone looking for neat vintage pieces at decent prices.

"Cindy" was extremely rude when I went to this shop on a Saturday afternoon. I was standing inside…read morenear the entrance looking at a purse when she approached me and, in a nasty tone, said "we close at 4." I checked my watch and told her I still had 8 minutes, then continued browsing. She immediately followed up in an angry tone with, "Seven minutes!" I fully intended to leave by 4. She eventually walked away, and I continued looking around. A moment later, I heard her loudly say "We've been here all day!" and I noticed her speaking about me with her two coworkers while they all stared in my direction. I approached the counter and asked for her manager's name. She gave it to me, and when I said I would be speaking to the manager about her behavior, she again responded angrily, saying " I'll make sure to let her know." For a shop that claims to be a charity benefiting domestic violence victims, the attitude displayed by its staff does not reflect the mission they promote. I am a long time La Grange resident, and I've both donated and purchased items here over the years, but after this experience, I will no longer be patronizing this establishment.

I recently stopped into Ecclection, and I was impressed with the charming selection of new and…read morevintage items. This is the place to go for whimsical gifts for any age. They had some toys, body care items and great gifts for the vintage-lover in one's life. They also feature wares by local artists, which was my favorite feature of all. The shop owner was personable and available for any questions. Shops such as this often have high price points, but that was not the case at Ecclection. I look forward to returning when I have birthday and holiday gifts to purchase for gal pals.
