Potato bacon soup. Good, but warning. Oddly there is garlic in it

Growing up 'the 17 ' was where you'd go for lunch with your mom on Saturday while shopping downtown and where you'd pile into a booth with your friends after the movies and eat bowls of rice and gravy. There has been very few owners over the years and these folks have had it for a while now. Location: Main Street. On the corner. Parking: On street metered parking. Think it's 1 an hour or something like that or there's a huge parking lot behind the building along the river. No worries parking is plentiful. Even if you get a ticket I think it's $7 or not much more. Decor. They have booths and tables. There is a longer table I. The back and a side room that can be used for special occasions and it's over flow when the restaurant is super busy. Staff Everyone is really nice. Even when it's busy there are smiles and friendly words! Food It's good. The last few times I've been haven't been up to the level that is has been In the past but it's still a good restaurant with good food. I'll come and visit every time I'm in town. The burgers and gravy are good.

Pork loin tenderloin special was good but a little dry. The cream of potato bacon soup was good - a little bland. The fries are great! The Greek salad was okay & burgers are a safe standby. The best is the homemade bread. Very fair prices. 4 Stars for Blind River though :) good enough to stop at every time on our way through.

We had the "not so hungry" breakfast ($5.49) which was perfect! Tried the pea meal bacon and loved it!

Love this place. I can't believe it's taken so long to write a review of it. What was I thinking?…read more Location: On 'main Street' near the library one stret from the river and picnic tables. Parking: There's parking on the streets and it's metered until 4:00. I think it's a dollar an hour. There's lots of free parking one street over next to the river. It's a good place to park cuz you could grab something here and go and eat it at the picnic tables along the River Bank boardwalk The building: You woke up a couple of wooden stairs and open the door and you're in a small waiting area. There's a heater with rotisserie chicken in it and a rack with the bread that they've made for the day that you can select. There's a freezer next to an order desk you can grab what you need from the freezer. And the treats and everything else you order at the counter and they make it fresh, with sandwiches, or put your dinners together. The goods: Everyday there's a daily soup and lunch special and a dinner special. Well except for Saturday there's no dinner on Saturday they close early then. You can look on Facebook and they post their weeks menu on Sundays but they also post daily. If you're walking by they have a chalkboard with the specials There's a fridge full of treats and salads. Treats like butter tarts, lemon meringue tarts, carrot cake, brownies, etc. And salads like macaroni salad potato salad pasta salad. My favorite is a pasta salad with broccoli and bacon. It is delicious Personally I like taco Tuesdays. Lunch is a taco special. A lot of times Wednesday dinner special is cabbage rolls and they are my absolute favorite. Fridays dinner is a really good dinner. It usually contains a combination of half chicken and ribs, sometimes both if you're lucky. And occasionally they'll have a special turkey with all the fixings dinner. That's a really good deal There's also a freezer with all the foods and soups that they make inside. So she makes stuff for the day but we'll make extra to put in the freezer that you can buy and take home with you. Oh my God I forgot the fresh bread. They make fresh bread every morning. There's also buns and hot dog buns, you can ask for something specific and if they can accommodate you they'll make it ooh they also have rotisserie chicken everyday. And you can call and order ahead because they post the weekly menu so you can reserve any dinner for lunch. They have a set number of dinners they make. It's pretty good I like coming here.

This is a cute place. We've been here twice & the sweets are delicious! Everyone is so friendly.read more

Diverse menu with something for everyone. Well presented plates with daily specials. Excellent…read moreservice with friendly staff, awesome views of the river, and full bar. Hubby has Tuscan chicken which was loaded with fresh and tasty vegetables. I had the butternut squash risotto with smoked chicken breast that tasted fresh and smokey. Would definitely be back again and again.

Came on a rainy Friday for lunch…read more The restaurant has plenty of free parking. It's large with two different seating areas to choose from; one is a more formal dining are and the other a bit more casual with a great pool table. Washrooms were nice and clean, there's a cute little vanity in it We sat in the dining area this time. They have a great big balcony that over looks the blind river. We were hoping to sit out there and enjoy lunch with the wonderful view but were foiled by the weather. Next time we are going to park ourselves outside! The server was new and super sweet. Very attentive and ready to answer any questions. I got the fish and chips and my cousin got the cheese steak ( I think it might be called something else, sorry) I must say the fish and chips were absolutely perfect, moist and succulent, not greasy and limp like you sometimes get. The fries were just the way I like them too, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had tried a bite of the sandwich and it was also really great. I think I'm going to try it next time I go there. Will be back. The food was great, love the decor and ambience, and the staff was really helpful. Thumbs up
