The staff is so helpful and kind; and the food was served hot. There's no tipping the servers, so prices are a little higher but I appreciate that their servers are paid a fair wage. This was an amazing place! The food was incredible. And I had low expectations because of Tyler Cowen's rule about places with beautiful views having subpar food. Manitoulin Island was Mr. H and my first trip post-pandemic reopening and the food there definitely made it better! Bouy's was recommended to us by our BnB owner and I always take locals advice ;) We went there after the Cup and Saucer hike so we were starving, we also had our dog with us and it was a bonus to know that he was welcome on the patio as well. We were told the pizza here is delicious and so I picked the "Max" pizza with roast beef, garlic butter and mushrooms. It was sooo good! You know the greasy feeling you usually get after eating pizza, not only did I not have it, the pizza dough was actually SUPER FRESH AND LIGHT! Mr. H had the fish of the day and it was cooked really well with light seasoning. We even had the leftover pizza for dinner. The view from the patio is pretty great with the water and boats, and on a sunny day, it's all the better! Highly recommend this place for not just the food but also the great service! read more

Our hosts at the Twin Peaks B&B recommended Buoy's Eatery and TakeOut in Gore Bay and since all their recommendations were spot-on so far we made a dinner reservation on Buoy's patio. As we checked out the many glowing reviews it became apparent that our choice for dinner was already made. Almost without exception reviewers recommended the pizza. All that was left for us to do was decide which of the pizzas we were going to order. See below for our choices. Service: Another thing most reviewers commented on consistently was the service at Buoy's, with an emphasis on friendly and helpful. And we can offer the same rave reviews on that front. Our server was excellent: relaxed but efficient; effortlessly funny; and, knowledgeable and honest about the menu. You couldn't really ask for more. Ambience: The patio overlooks the Gore Bay marina, and also provides a beautiful view of a portion of Gore Bay itself. Combined with the relaxed service, and the stunning weather we enjoyed for our visit, this made for a fabulous outdoor dining experience. And, an after dinner stroll out onto the marina's breakwater is highly recommended. You get a stunning view of the Bay's outlet to the North Channel, and a beautiful panoramic view of the town and the marina. Food: When we arrived the patio was busy and almost without exception people had ordered pizza. So, with the reviews' recommendations confirmed we sat down to agonize over which pizzas to choose. In the end we settled on two 12" pizzas (we'd been hiking all day and were famished). The Bonnyville (double pepperoni, extra cheese, tomatoes, green olives and bacon) and The Max (shaved roast beef, garlic butter, fried mushrooms, red onion, marble cheese and steak spice). We also ordered two side salads: a Caesar and a Greek. The salads were good, with in-house made, delicious dressings and fresh ingredients (with the exception of the canned black olives on the Greek). But each one was missing just a little something. In the case of the Caesar we missed having more, and larger, croutons. And in the case of the Greek there could have been more Feta cheese - and real olives would have gone a long way. The pizzas are really good. To be clear, if you're looking for Neopolitan or artisanal style pizza you'll be disappointed. But if you're looking for straight ahead Canadian-style pizza with quality toppings cooked to perfection (and quickly - we were amazed at how quickly our pizzas came out) then Buoy's is going to make you happy - and full. With our side salads we were stuffed (we could have easily settled for two 8" pizzas but sometimes we just have to overindulge now and again). Price: Two 12" pizzas, two side salads, two tall cans of Okanagan Cider, HST and a healthy tip totalled just shy of $100. Money well spent; we'll definitely be back the next time we visit Manitoulin Island. read more

We had two pizzas on thin crust, one pepperoni and the pulled pork. Both were really, really good. A little undercooked though. Would be worth asking for more cooked. We ate them with a great beer at the split rail brewing company across the road. Loved it. read more

This has become an end of trip tradition, and sometimes beginning of trip as well. Excellent pizza, pasta and fish since the beginning, and the view can't easily be beaten. Richard also continues to add/change/enhance the experience trying things out to keep it a little different each time, whether it's live music, menu changes, adding a smoker to the kitchen etc never been disappointed. And now with split rail craft brewing across the street and on tap hopefully things will continue to improve here in Gore Bay... read more

We were staying at the Queen's Inn up the road, and the owner recommended Buoy's to us for dinner as it was a short walk away. My husband and I sat at the outdoor deck area with a great view of Gore Bay. They had a nice selection of local Ontario beers available as well as sodas etc. Both of us ordered the whitefish sandwich. I had mine cajun style and he had his broiled. They were both really good (we split them) but I somewhat regretted not ordering a pizza, as that seemed to be what a lot of the locals were getting. The table next to us had the loaded nachos, and they also looked really tasty. It was a little bit expensive, but considering the location on Manitoulin and the freshness of the fish, we were fine with price. read more

Great place in a small town. Came here after hiking the whole day, starving. It was amazing. Great food, very clean, friendly staff, and very well located by the bay. If you're around town, be sure to check it out. The pizza with the stuffed crust was excellent, and the key lime pie we got for dessert was amazing. One of the best I've ever tasted. Terrible. Sat down inside, ordered an 8" pizza. Waited for an hour, watching 3 tables outside get served before anyone inside got their food. There were 4 other tables that came in before us, and the waitress told them another 10 min. Told us the same thing, didn't bother. Got up and left. Waitress wanted to go punch a bill for us when we didn't even get anything. Don't go. If you do, don't sit inside. read more

No other restaurant in Gore Bay has Yelp reviews so we came here for the great harbor view and the food. My wife and I shared a large pizza and it was superb. Can't criticize it in any way. Also had a really fresh and tasty garden salad with house dressing. Topped it off with a delicious beer brewed by the craft brewery across the street. Waitress was friendly. Great little place in Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island that stays open year round. A lot of other places seem to close after summer when the tourists go away, so it was nice to find something open to grab a bite in mid-September. All the food here is locally sourced - fish is from a local fishery, beef from a local farmer, and desserts are even from a local chocolatier. All food is quite reasonably priced. Unfortunately they were out if burgers when we went, but we left happy anyway. My girlfriend had the lemon & dill whitefish. I had the Cajun whitefish. Both seasonings are made in house, and were excellent. The Cajun has a nice kick to it. The garden salad has a wonderful house made vinaigrette dressing, and the home made potato wedges were quite tasty. We finished with a raspberry dark chocolate truffle cake that melted in your mouth. The place is owned by a husband and wife team who do an excellent job. The husband came out and talked to us for a while and told us about how long they'd been running the place, and where their food comes from. He was a great guy, and I'm happy we met him. Steam Whistle and Waterloo Dark brews are on tap. If you're staying at a local bed and breakfast, let the staff know to get 10% off your bill! read more

Great little spot to eat. Was honestly expecting a greasy-spoon type place but it was anything but! We stopped in for lunch and had their Tuscan Veggie pizza along with a couple drinks. The pizza was awesome - good handmade crust and very little grease to it! We overheard someone talk about the desserts and ended up taking the spicy turtle cheesecake and their flour-less salted caramel cake to go - both were amazing! Drove to the restaurant and I thought should I go in. The restaurant didn't look to inviting but they made up with the great food and service. I had the whitefish dinner. It was really good. My wife had the rainbow trout that was also very good. Service was friendly and good. Highly recommend. Over looking Gore Bay Harbour. read more
