Booked a Boudoir photo session at their Pleasant Ridge/Ferndale location back in September 2014. I…read morewas doing the session as a gift for my fiance (now my husband) before our wedding in October. I was nervous to do it, but one of my best friends suggested and even encouraged me to do it. I thought on it for a week or two, then finally went for it. They offered a deal on Groupon, but when I called I was told they actually had a deal a little better than the Groupon offer. 2 outfit changes, 4x6 hardcover book with 20 images (edited), and I honestly can't even remember what the price was now. It was reasonable I do remember that much. I was also given the option to purchase the raw (unedited) photos from the session for $99.00. There were alot of images, so I spent the extra money since there were pics I liked that my husband didn't pick as part of his 20. Now driving there was a little bit of an issue. My GPS took me to the opposite side of Woodward - putting me directly across the street from the actual business. I figured it out though. So if you're heading here, here's what you need to know: heading South on Woodward, the building (2 story white building - kind of colonial looking) is on your right (West side of Woodward). It's on the same side as Rust Belt Market, but it's not quite that far down. I did my own hair, but opted to have my makeup done there. It was an additional charge for both services (if I'm not mistaken) but worth it. I loved my makeup, but hated my lashes. They looked great in the photos though. In person they just kind of looked like wild little spider legs. They were the "piece" kind - not the strips. Sorry...not a makeup person so I don't know proper terminology. I was offered a Mimosa while getting my makeup done, which was GREAT since I was super nervous. Being in front of a bunch of strangers - in lingerie - is a little nerve racking! The Mimosa took the edge off a little. One outfit was supposed to be shot upstairs, and the second outfit was supposed to be shot downstairs. When Kim (photographer) seen my outfit though, she wanted them both to be shot downstairs. I liked her ideas, so I was on board with it. I brought a pair of shoes with me, but they also had shoes in various sizes to choose from. I ended up wearing mine for one outfit, and a black pair of theirs for a second outfit. I wanna say the shoot was somewhere between 1 and 2 hrs long. They're were 2 photographers shooting at the same time. All the ladies there did a great job making me feel comfortable, and directing me through the poses. I'm not gonna pretend I wasn't a little uncomfortable - cause I was - but those ladies really were great. Throughout the shoot they would both show me some pics that they had got and I was definitely impressed. My favorite pics were the pinup ones they took, using various suitcases as props. I had brought a red plaid swimsuit from Pinup Girl Clothing with me and it went great - even though they were just suitcases. I loved those pics! I was told it would take 3-4 wks to receive my book once I submitted the 20 images I wanted to use. Well it actually ended up taking 2 months! I wasn't at all happy with the process and thought it was kind of scatterbrained, but once I reached out to the owner (Kim) I had a better understanding. I was happy I told her what was going on, and was able to get things resolved. The main problem was lack of communication - she wasn't even aware of the run around I was receiving from various people. The reason I took so long to write this review is because I just picked up my book last Friday. I had emailed one of the employees several times, but it never worked out. Either cause she didn't respond or I forgot to go pick it up. On my last email, I came to the assumption that maybe the lady I was emailing no longer worked there. So I forwarded the email to Kim and automatically got a response. Hooray! I drove out there to get my book, and was very happy with it. My husband was VERY happy with it as well. Would've been 5 stars had I not had such a long turn around on getting the book, but gave it more than 3 stars cause I really sympathized with Kim. She's great and so is her work. Ladies - consider this for your man if you wanna do something special that will really wow him. Trust me.

I knew working together was going to be fun from our first consultation call when I outlined the looks/moods I was going for and she chimed in with suggestions that elevated all of my ideas. The studio we shot in was BEAUTIFUL with a lot of different spaces to create different looks. The make up artist she worked with was friendly, professional did my face better than I could have on my own. Finally, to top it all off my phones were ready well ahead of schedule and she quickly made whichever edits I asked for. Her packages were competitively priced compared to other boudoir packages in the area and I believe I got a lot more bang for my buck.

I went hoping for some sensual shots to use for my album release promotion. What I got was something reminiscent of mall glamour shots. I believe her services are too pricey for the quality offered in the end. There were over 90 shots, none of which I loved, but 14 I liked enough to try and salvage the shoot. In my package I paid for 7 and inquired about getting the extra 7. She snapped on me and told me to read my contract and that I was never promised any photos and that she doesn't give photos only products. She tried to just give me 7 shots printed in a book. Then she actually read the contract herself and realized I was entitled to 7 digital files. Now for the extra photos. I was already unhappy because I paid extra for a "video" which looked like one of my toddlers was holding the camera because she does not own any video equipment like a stabilizer. No lighting present at the shoot either, just good old fashioned sunlight. And nothing present to personalize the shoot. Same rug, same couch, same everything for each client. I was not interested in receiving the book. I didn't love the photos. I tried to take personal responsibility, like maybe I've got issues, but some are just poorly shot, missed moments, bad shadows. In the final edits of the 7 she decided she should give me, there where pronounced nipples and pubic hair left in the shot that caused my first promotional cover for my album to be rejected from the online store for nudity. I asked her to make things fair, to even the scale and make me feel like I didn't waste my time and $$$ just send me the raw files for the 14 pictures I liked. I'll get them edited myself. Easy right? Left click, email, boom! But no. Miss thang got big mad. And I don't know why? You can't please everyone. You did not please me. I offered a FREE way to settle this dispute but pride got in the way. Even ignored my lawyer's requests. So here I am warning anyone that takes their career seriously. Skip this stop. She's good for a sexy photo for ya man, but if you need anything to use in high resolution for professional campaigns it's a big NO from me.

I arrived a bit late because of traffic and he was very accommodating. I felt at easy when he explained his photography process and walked me thorough posing. I liked the various backgrounds that he had in his studio. Pricing was reasonable and my photos arrived in the time he quoted when I took pictures. His skill with creating beautiful pictures is amazing. I felt beautiful when I saw my pictures both retouched up and untouched. I saw some of his engagement and wedding photo portfolio. The photos were able to tell a story without any words. I plan to go back for family photos.

We wanted to take engagement photos but weren't sure about which photographer to choose. On a whim, we called Michael Sackett after finding him on The Knot. He was very easy to talk to, explained things very well, and had an opening. I visited him in his Troy studio to confirm I made the right decision in choosing him to shoot our engagement portraits and I was not disappointed. Michael's studio in Troy is comfortable, quirky, and fun. Located in an old church, he has a beautiful display of his work for his clients to peruse. Being an Indian bride whose family really wanted a photographer with experience with our culture, I practically drooled over the huge print of the Indian couple right outside his studio door. We discussed locations and decided on a few. He was relaxed with the payment process and was always available for me to call and email (maybe more than he would have liked, what can I say? I'm a nervous bride). We arrived yesterday to take our portraits not sure what to expect. For some reason, I thought I would be extremely comfortable with the process. Instead of being some starlet in front of the camera, I froze. I was very stiff and so was my fiance in several photographs but Michael eased us into it and asked us to just behave together as we normally would. I was nervous about how I looked but he reassured me that everything would turn out great. By the time we got to our second location, we were much more relaxed and calm and when I saw the sneak preview of our photographs today, we looked naturally blissful. The whole experience was amazing and easy. I am a control freak but I was happy to let go of control with Michael because from the beginning of our appointment to the end of our session, there was trust there between the three of us. I can't wait to see our engagement portraits and hope to use him as our wedding photographer (fingers crossed).
