My husband and I attended a wedding here. The ceremony was held outside on a small terrace in the back of the venue. Surrounding trees were blossoming making for a nice setting! Cocktail hour was right inside at the bar area. The space was small but it worked for the short amount of time we were there. There were a few high tops to stand at. Only a few servers came around with appetizers but this could have been the bride and grooms choosing. The reception was held in a large room with tables on one side and the dance floor, bar, and cookie table on the other side. There were doors to exit outside for fresh air which was nice as things warmed up fast once the dancing started. The food was good, serving its purpose. Everything was nicely done and laid out. It worked perfectly for the smaller wedding that we attended. This was a nice venue for a small/medium sized wedding. Each space that was used worked well. Overall a pleasant experience! read more

The location is easy to get to and local hotels are close to the location. Working with their staff (Jasmine B. and others) is what keeps me coming back. The staff communicates effectively before, during, and after the event. Their attention to detail is top notch. Selecting 1757 again and again is an easy choice. I've already booked another event for the summer of 2025. Once you work with the 1757 Golf Club, you will clearly understand why I highly recommended them to my clients. The course was not in bad shape. Here's where my annoyance comes in. Not once did the marshal come around. We played in back of two foursomes of elderly people that were essentially playing as an "eightsome." for example, rather than tee off, the front foursome actually stood over the green and watched their friends in the following foursome putt out. The fact that all of these folks (from what we could see) were terrible golfers made the situation even worse as they took forever over every shot. It seems they were "members"- whatever that means - and have a history of that style of play. Absolutely no golf etiquette or respect for others on the course. a six hour round of frustration. My advice to you is that if you end up behind two foursomes of 4 foot tall elderly guys in cheesy golf attire, go back to the club house and get a rain check. read more

My daughter had her wedding rehearsal dinner and service here. All went well. End of review. But wait!! For those two days, the most important days of her life... something unbelievable happened. Her name is Rachel! She was the "in charge" person. I have managed hundreds of employees. I have worked a multi million companies. I will say WITHOUT A DOUBT... Rachel was the best ever! Not a detail was missed. She filled water glasses, picked ip plates, kept an eye for food delivery so all was on time. I will say unequivocally.... the day was made perfect by Rachel. My partner and I came here for the Driving Range. When we arrived, although short staffed Rex was very attentive and constantly checking on us. In 60 minutes he must have popped his head in at least 5 or 6 times. Unfortunately he left at 4pm and his replacement was a girl called Courtney I think. In 45 minutes she came to see us once. My partner and I were both after a drink but by the time she came round we had no balls left and only 15 mins of time. My partner explained that I had been waiting for her for over 30 mins but she didn't seem particularly bothered. We settled our tab and left! A great spot to work on your swing. Employ 100 Rex's and maybe retrain the Courtneys as she is not what a server ought to be! read more

Worked with an instructor for a few years and last year something changed. I show up and have to ask multiple people where the instructor is and walk up and down the range trying to find them. Same ol' this year. 1757 course has always been a joke, but now I no longer have a reason to even go to their over priced instructors or driving range. Go to a real country club and save $55-$65 for a lesson, actually learn, and have your instructor show up on time! read more

One time I was waiting to purchase a bucket of balls but cashier was unavailable so the pro golf trainer gave me a small bucket to get me staeted, what awesome customer service! However, it did not end there, the wait staff are just as cusyomer savvy and brought my order promptly and checked in throughout my stay offered to refill my sangria drink or anything else I need. Because of my awesome ecperience I keep coming back which also resulted in honing my shooting/driving range up to 200 yards! My company rented out a room to meet over lunch. They served a frozen apple pie to us. Other than that it was well done.

Went with a buddy of mine to 1757 a couple of weeks ago. There are a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about this club. First it's pricey for what you get. I paid $91 on a weekend which didn't include golf balls or GPS. The carts are also gas which are loud and unnecessary for a course that's flat. The range was a little pricey itself and is all artificial turf for non-members. It was nearly impossible to put a tee into the ground too even though they said you can. Also they told me the putting green was closed; of course when I passed it going to the back nine there were three people on it. It did look nice though and had a nice looking chipping area. Too bad I couldn't use it. The course itself is a tale of two halves. The front nine is wonderfully plotted out and has some gorgeous holes. The back nine has some good holes too but seems to be crammed all on top of each other. You end up driving right by a lot of tee boxes over and over again so I wouldn't want to play it when it's crowded. The greens were like trampolines which makes it tough to get it close but the course conditions were great overall. Lastly there is no way to walk this course. Although the back nine is on top of each other there are long stretches between greens and tees. Plus the ninth hole and tenth tee seem to be a half mile from each other. I would say there is good golf to be played here but I would probably only play it once a year. read more

My wedding was at 1757 in 2013. I only have great things to say about 1757 and the staffs there. Not only they have beautiful golf course and lovely very quaint inside, they have awesome clean practice range, inside the restaurant and bar the food is superb. The chef makes amazing food!! The staffs at 1757 are so friendly and always helpful. One of the best experience I had was at 1757. Lindsey and especially Karen (our wedding coordinator) went above and beyond to make our wedding day special and memorable. And as I have mentioned the staffs are all very friendly and will do everything to make their customers happy. We have been going ever since, just to relax, hit golf balls and enjoy the food!! On a nice weather and if you want a place to have a beer or two and hit golfballs...? 1757 is the place to be!! read more

Had a great experience at the 1757 Golf Academy. I have been taking lessons with Tiffany Fawcett. She is an extremely competent instructor who took the time to analyze my needs for improvement, my golf swing and then offer incremental changes that would improve my swing and ball contact. She is patient, methodical and thorough without being critical or condescending and she makes the hour fly by. Each session left me confident that I could take her suggestions to the golf course and implement them. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to improve their hame. read more

This facility has really disappointed me lately. While the course is nice and challenging, the driving range has become the reason I won't go there again. Horrendous staff and rip-off membership. 5 Star membership gives access to free tee-times after 1pm. However, (1) tee times are all fully booked, so you have to go there to put your name on walk-on waiting list and wait for cancellations and opening, which is harder than getting a tee time. Yet, (2) when you look at groups going out in the afternoon, it's mostly twosomes and even some singles. Staff does not care and seem to relish in seeing the members wait endlessly even though there are plenty of openings. read more

I was disappointed. This is a work in progress and might eventually turn out to be something. It's called 1757 as that was the year Loudon County was founded. Funnily enough it also corresponds to the number of ball I lost in the god-awful rough and water. This is a storied course as it is the former Presidential Club - $60K to join, no families allowed, business only. They got 40 Northern Virginia Execs to cough up and then they went bankrupt. It has now been bought by Billy Casper Inc and is a daily fee course , golf clinic and practice facility. Right now they only have 10 holes and it is $39 to ride for 10, $59 for 20. You really cannot walk because of the crazy lay-out. This is steep and Herndon Centennial at $26 for 18 to ride is a much better value. Here's what I liked: - some of the holes are gorgeous and overall you can see it is going to be a great place - eventually - the drving range is massive and looked great - some of the fixtures - range caddies, water coolers, are all private club expensive teak and look good - a couple of nice holes bordering the Washington & O.D. path Here's what I did not like: - screwy layout as they have closed off some holes and are building others so you drive all over the place - bad signage so it is tough to figure out where to go - inaccurate and inconsistent distance markers - killer rough and narrow fairways - it is a tough golf course, with screwy dog legs at every turn. This is not for the casual golfer. - No frikkin bar ! No food - a refrigerator in the pro shop with $3 water and gatorade - too many elevated greens with cliffs off the back - a lot of wear on the tee boxes It's close to my office so I might be back to check out the practice range, but it will be a year or so before I play here again - Herndon Centennial is a far better bet. read more

This has been our go-to work spot for burgers for the past 2 or 3 years. Oops. Not any more. For some reason, the golf course grill-style burger has morphed into some giant, 10" tall plate of convoluted chef-inspired puffery. The bread was stale, the toppings sloppy, and the overall effect was some giant plate of pretense that is too hard to take a bite of. The meat WAS well-cooked and properly seasoned, but the mountain of, well, crap, that is piled onto it ruins it as a "burger." If they ever decide to switch back to something that can be eaten by normal humans, I'll consider returning. Until then, it's Five Guys right down the street. (Note to the chefs... sometimes it's OK to just serve a well-made hamburger. No one was impressed with the giant monstrosities you've created. We all laughed when they were served at the absurdity of the height and promptly disassembled them and ate the meat.) read more

I like 1757 for a lot of reasons. It has something for everyone (assuming you are into golf). The practice facility is top knoch in the area in my humble opinon. If you want the cheap mat route they have plenty of spots. If you want to pay a little more and practice off the grass - which is VERY reasonably price - I suggest it. $35 for all day on the grass/short game area OR $10 per large bucket....pays for itself REAL quick and you want to practice off grass anyway. The course itself is fun....short but challenging. You need to place your shots and there is lots of trouble. I do NOT recommend this course for noobie golfers. Please stick to the range :) The restaurant / bar is excellent. The food is ALWAYS good and reasonably priced as well. They also do club fitting which is cool and you can try out the latest driver shafts for free. Awesome! I am an avid golfer and this place is great! Check it out sometime. read more

So this is difficult for me. I really like 1757 and the atmosphere and the employees that you come face to face with. They are the reason people keep coming back. The people behind the curtain oversold the 5 star membership and only allow for 6 tee times a day for those memberships (in advance). If you show up and there is openings you can play. From what I was told they sold over 700 5 stars so 24ish people a day on the course seems to be a cheap shot. Again the public facing employees are great but I think the bosses are lining the course up for failure. There are a lot of unhappy 5 stars members. I guess I'm the outlier, but I was not impressed with the restaurant at 1757. We went here for a Sunday lunch several weeks ago. There was no sign telling you to seat yourself and we awkwardly hovered for several minutes until the manager (I presume) made her appearance. We picked a table watching the driving range. The entertainment we got watching the terrible form of the golfers was - hands down - the best part of the experience. Our Justin Beiber coiffed waiter was pretty checked out and clueless. He gave us menus, then immediately asked us if we wanted to order. When we weren't ready, he disappeared for about fifteen minutes. When he finally came back, the Mister ordered a chicken salad sandwich with a cup of chili and I ordered the green chile cheeseburger. It took fooooooorever to get our food. Foooooorever. It finally arrived. The Mister was frustrated to realize Justin the Waiter had given him the half sandwich, half cup of chili and no fries. The chicken salad sandwich was good, but was the smallest half sandwich I've seen in ages. Which was weird, because my hamburger was big enough to have its own gravitational force. The chiles were good, the cheese was fine, but the burger was a touch under what I'd call medium and had no seasoning. The fries were tasty; the Mister stole several. I ended up handing him the 2nd half of my massive burger as well. Ages and ages later, Justin the Waiter came back to give us our check. (Apparently filling water glasses wasn't part of his job description?) We asked for the dessert menu, which really threw him for a loop. We got it, but nothing was appealing and everything seemed overpriced. The prices were alright for lunch, but I don't think we'll be back. Service was apathetic and nearly invisible. Nice clubhouse, friendly staff and a nice practice facility. The course is in great condition, I just have a few issues with it. First, the layout is very tight - it feels like they tried to cram 18 holes onto a plot for about 14. There are several greens right next to tee boxes and several long drives between holes. There is also far too much water in play. I like the occasional stream or pond, but water comes into play on what felt like 15 of the 18 holes. Cramming the course onto such a small plot probably takes a lot away from the course visually, particularly on the back 9 where you can see 4 or 5 holes at any given time. Other than that, the greens and fairways are well kept, rough is fair. So that brings me onto my second point - the green fee is $95 before 11 on weekend. That puts it into competition with a course like Westfields, and I know I would rather drop $100 at Westfields any day (heck, Bulle Rock in MD is $130!). Your $95 doesn't even give you practice balls - a big no no when you get up toward $100 green fees. Competitor courses like Raspberry Falls and Westfields give you complementary range balls. I may play there again - but would try to avoid weekend rates. I think 1757 is probably worth about $60, not much more. read more

I planned my husband's surprise 40th birthday party here and the team gave me an organized, classy, perfectly run event. This review is solely for the "Seventeen Fifty-Seven", the restaurant within the 1757 golf club. We held a team meeting at the Seventeen Fifty-Seven with about a dozen people, and the experience was less than stellar. The staff were attentive (at least), but they kept trying to blend in with our sense of humor, and at one point one of the waitresses (Shauna?) mentioned she was going to punch one of my co-workers in the face because he took too long to order. Uhm, what? It wasn't meant as a threat, but it was far from professional. We don't know you and you don't know us. As for the food? Equally lacking. Out of the dozen of us no one really had anything that stood out, tasted great or really went above and beyond. Everything was overdone and incredibly bland. My turkey club was incredibly dry, overly crunchy and lacking flavor. It's a bad sign when a turkey club completely misses the mark. There's a particular sensation called the Captain Crunch Effect wherein a food is too crunchy, so course that it actually hurts the inside of your mouth. I've never had a turkey club wreck the inside of my mouth, but somehow the bread was so over toasted it did just that. Two of my coworkers ordered the short smoked salmon and both arrived burned, crispy and hard. They said the flavor was decent, but salmon isn't supposed to crunch when you chew it (at least not in my experience). We ordered several appetizers, too. The naan was store bought (perfectly circular) and had been burned alone the edges after being re-heated. The accompanying cheese dip had an almost metallic taste to it. The calamari was decent, but drenched in grease and, again... somewhat crunchy. Disappointing. I wasn't able to finish my sandwich (and it was free!). I can't comment on 1757's golfing experience, but as a dining destination, there are better choices in the surrounding area (even if you're looking for just a quick bite after a round after golf). read more

I met my girlfriend here for lunch today. When she asked where I wanted to go I chose 1757 because somebody gave me a buy one get one free coupon that a school fundraiser was selling. I haven't been here in ages and remembered the food was good. The place was kinda empty and nobody came to greet me at the wait stand so I walked to the bar. The bartender was taking care of 3 ladies and it took him a couple of minutes to acknowledge me. I asked if they were open and if outside seating was available. He told me where to sit and that it was going to be a while because he was the only one there. He wasn't lying because it took a good 15 minutes for him to come to my table, maybe even 20. My friend wasn't there yet so it wasn't that big of a deal. After she arrived he made his way over. We wanted to order a bottle of wine. There was no wine list he said and he was unable to tell us what they had. We asked a few questions to try and make a choice but he was absolutely clueless and couldn't even tell us which reds or whites they had let alone names and vintage. He gave us his iPad but it wasn't much help. It was so disappointing that we decided to just order a glass. Glasses that were dirty btw. The food was very good. I had a BLT with fries and my friend had a 1/2 sandwich and salad that she said was yummy. The portions and price were spot on. I would say the worst part was when we went to pay. Apparently they have a "new system" and since we had a coupon they can't split the checks. We both had a credit card and wanted to split the bill 50/50 but he said we couldn't. So my friend that I never see, insisted on paying the whole tab and I was totally embarrassed since I suggested coming here and she was forced to foot the bill. If you get a new system I'm thinking it should be an improvement not worse. Oh well. Lunch was good but next time I will choose a different club like Lansdowne or Belmont where hospitality has been perfected. read more

This review is SOLELY for the golf course. Who the hell goes to a golf course specifically to eat, anyways?? Don't be fooled by the scorecard, which shows a par 70 course, playing 6,600 yards from the tips--this course is difficult. The holes are pretty tight, so wayward shots are punished. Water is in play on 14 of the 18 holes. There are not many elevation changes, with the exception of holes 3 and 7, and even those are modest. The rough is punishing but fair. And there are a few lengthy holes (again, from the tips). The first hole is beast, requiring a drive to carry at least 260 yards if marked from the furthest back tee boxes. The par 3 7th plays at 240 yards, though downhill a bit, so maybe 225; still no joke particularly given the water on the entire right side. And the 15th is a water-laced 584 yard par 5. The course itself is really well maintained. There are a couple beaten down areas in the rough on a few holes, but you're not supposed to be there anyhow. The pace of play is the biggest issue at 1757. The length between some holes (this course is absolutely unwalkable) causes this, as well as all the water (and people not taking drops!!). The rangers are pretty ineffective, but at least the cart girl is diligent, you'll see her at least 4 times during round, and you can usually start a tab, which is nice. One gripe is the cost, which is $89 before noon on the weekends. While this is a good course, and the price itself isn't bad, for $89, I should be getting free range balls. At least the post-noon rates are decent, as well as weekday pricing. Another issue is the location of the practice green. It's about 300 yards from the clubhouse, all the way near the first tee box. This doesn't give you much practice time unless you skip the range to warm up all together. And once you're at the first tee, you're usually up next with maybe 3-4 minutes to practice chipping. Rule of thumb: the greens are fast. Overall, a really good course that should extend more benefits. The layout is not great, requiring use of carts and the back nine feels a little cramped, but a challenging and fun course nonetheless. I will definitely be back. read more

8/12/14 - I completely forgot to write this... Went for lunch with work people. I was doing a Whole30 challenge at my gym and could not have any dairy. I ordered the Flat-Iron Steak. I requested that the steak be cooked in olive oil instead of butter because I could not have any dairy, which I specifically told the server. Server said "That shouldn't be a problem" Even though the restaurant was 1/4 full, it took over 40 minutes to get our food. As the server placed my plate before me, he said "sorry, the chef shut down your olive oil plan" I thought he was joking. He wasn't. Me: "haha really?" Server: "He said it would ruin the dish and he refused to do it any other way than his" Me: "haha really?" Server: "ya know, the better the chef, the bigger the ego, right? haha" Me: "haha really?" Server: "Yeah he's a very accomplished chef" Me: :-( At this point I was exasperated and the rest of my party of 8 was eating so I piped up and ate. We did have some great laughs though about the accomplished chef and his refusal to accommodate such a ridiculous request to have a steak cooked in olive oil instead of butter. 1/8/15 - Went back for a work thing, had been lobbying to go somewhere else. Ordered the burger, medium rare, came out medium well / well done. I need to stop getting burgers here. The service was great - very attentive server and manager was also great about refilling glasses. I just wish the kitchen was better, I'm sure I'll be back when the weather is nice. I had my wedding at the 1757 Golf Club about 3 weeks ago, and I am so happy I held it there. They could have done nothing better. The food is AMAZING (all my guests are still talking about it!) and the room is very beautiful. However, it was the service that really stood out for me. This is a team of people who work their butts off to make sure your event goes perfectly. Right from the beginning, Lindsay Rash worked hard to create a very flexible package that fit my budget. She bent over backwards and was extremely creative. Karen Duckett, the planner, worked really hard to help me come up with the perfect timeline, seating arrangement, etc. She was patient was my busy schedule and poor communication. I have to say though, Stephen (don't know his last name) absolutely took the cake. He coordinated the day and evening of my wedding. He ran circles making sure everything was going on time, that me and my husband were happy, everything, I even found out later that he had been entertaining some of the 20 kids we had in attendance. I was so impressed with him. He (and the servers, of who, I can only remember Mackenzie's name) really turned around a day that was beginning to get long and torturous for me. I want nothing more than for Stephen to come run my life. He was superman. My wedding was a phenomenal success (I know I'm biased, but so many people have told me quite sincerely it was the best they ever attended), and I know that I have Stephen and his team to thank for nearly all of that. If you want to have an elegant, no-hassle wedding or any other event, this really is the place. This team will make sure that everything gets done. They will go above and beyond. They will literally bring you bacon wrapped scallops and give you pep talks, while you hide from your guests in the board room during cocktail hour for a while. read more

I took my wife and kids to 1757 restaurant thinking it would be nice to visit a local restaurant- hoped it would be good. From the second we walked in the door I had a bad feeling. Not a soul came to seat us or acknowledge that we were there. The kids kept asking me if it was closed and I said it couldn't be because I saw two people eating. Finally we got the attention of someone and we were seated. I ordered the French dip sandwich, my wife the chicken salad sandwich, my daughter had the kids mac n cheese and my son had chicken tenders. French dip was extremely dry...no amount of au jus could cure it My wife's sandwich was fair at best- way too much dill for me and it didn't taste fresh. They even ruined mac n cheese and chicken tenders! I can see if this was mac n cheese from the adult menu, but for kids you don't need to be fancy- most of them prefer Kraft. The chicken tenders were actually burnt- my son took one bite and didn't touch them again. None of us finished half of our meals and the waiter never asked why as a good waiter would. He was too busy talking to the bartender about their fantasy football teams to care. Needless to say, we will not be back to 1757. read more

Great course. Lots of Water - very few holes Didn't involve a water hazard of some kind. Nice driving range with mats, faux grass and real grass to choose from. (never seen that before). Really nice mix of Extremely difficult as well as a few holes made for normal human beings. As somebody said, definitely lost more balls here than the norm. Slope is somewhere near 139 or 140 - so since 155 is the max slope, this is not an easy course. Expect to play 5-10 shots over your handicap. All in all, the facilities and staff were excellent - but make sure GPS device is fully charged, as carts don't have it. (Often in Fairfax, for this pricetag -$89 in weekend primetime - they do (Pleasant Valley, South Riding etc) Put away your Pro V1's (unless you're a single digit handicapper) - for something cheaper - and just go have fun here. Excited for my next visit, despite the drive from DC. No idea about the food - went to a charity tournament here so they were catering something different than norm I'd guess. All in all, it's pretty clear these guys care. read more

You've gotta be kidding me for $90+... the three finishing holes are par 3/4/3 and there are 2 par 5s? maybe 3 on the course. Trying to block it out. This is an executive course at best. Also, for being so short, it is a very long round -- we finished at around 4.5 hours which is crazy considering how short it is. I've heard they put people off at 8mins apart instead of the tradition 10mins... which would cause this. Some positives: The practice facility is nice -- way better than just standard turf, there is some longer fake grass which much better simulates the real deal. Pros: Always seems to be in great shape The practice facility is superb Played in 2 tournaments here and the food/staff inside has been very good Cons: Always expect a 5+ hour round no matter when you play Price I like the course. I've never seen it in bad shape. It can get a little dried out, but I actually prefer that on this course. I can get over the fact that it is somewhat difficult (I'm a 5). But, I'm not going to pay 100 bucks on the weekends (70 twilight) in-season to play a 6+ hour round. It seems they are always busy and there is a line of 2-4 foursomes on #1 waiting to tee off. I've seen a ranger on the course exactly 2 times. Twice I've had to come in for a rain check after 9, because it had taken 3 and half hours to play and it wasn't going to get any better on the back. Overall, I'll stick to other courses around here when I want to play. But, I will definitely still make this my go-to range. The draft beer selection is pretty decent and in the past you could get a beer and a bucket of balls for $10. That was a great way to spend an evening. read more

Played here for the first time Aug 8. I have no complaints about the course set up or the customer service. However the greens were just short of a moonscape because of all the ball marks that were left un-repaired. Is there some reason for this? Are the people who play there so rude they don't fix their marks? Is it a culture thing? Does the course specifically tell players NOT to repair marks? Are the greens made up of some sort of magic self fixing turf? If so I missed the memo. On any given putt I'd have to repair at least two marks in my line just to putt. I play public courses all over the DC area and I've never seen such a total lack of respect for other golfers. They had at least two marshals patrolling the course. They should literally call out people who don't fix their marks. And kick them off for a second violation. read more
