Made my first trip in tonight for an appointment with Reagan. After my last barber left her shop and moved to a new location on the other side of Indy, I was looking for some place new. I joked with a friend this week that "this place offers a consultation which is fancy salon lingo for 'what are we doing with your hair today?" Imagine my surprise when Reagan took time to offer suggestions about how I could style my hair differently (move the hard part lower, keep the back shorter, texture the front to remove an annoying cowlick). Throughout the entire cut she was warm and conversational without being too chatty. She offered the full range of services (shampoo, neck shave, product, etc.) and was genuinely willing to accommodate despite my being what was likely her last appointment for the day. Needless to say, before leaving, I booked my next appointment on the spot. So glad to have found this place! read more

10 stars!! Had a great first experience at 18 I 8. For the past 3 years I've had alopecia to the point were I was shaving my our head on a weekly basis. Around the beginning of this year my hair started to grow back stronger and I eventually decided to let it grow out. I wanted to find a nice place to go for my first haircut and 18I8 was the perfect spot. The owner was very welcoming and greeted me with a craft beer. We discussed my groomsman coming in before my wedding later this year to make sure all of the guys were ready for the big day. My stylist, Kendall, was awesome. He truly loves his job and gave me the perfect cut. His professionalism and creativity made it a great experience. Felt like a million bucks when I left! Sent my boyfriend to this place due to the good reviews. He said it was a very good experience and he would definitely go back. Well, that was until he got home. The most he's spent at a salon/barber on men's haircut/trim, and it's honestly the worst I've seen sadly. He won't tell me the girls name but this is ridiculous for $70. Only reason I gave two stars is because of how nice she was, but she should definitely brush up on her skills for future hair cuts.. this was the combined price for a basic beard trim and hair cut. After a very awkward phone call with the receptionist to set up my appointment (yes, I'm a girl. Yes, I'm calling a men's salon. No, i don't want a pixie cut, i want a more masculine cut) I was a little nervous at how it was going to go. Nestled into the fairly busy section of Clay Terrace you are greeted into a calm and bustle of this upscale salon. Upon being greeted and checked in I was offered a beverage. Available were water, coffee, soft drinks, juices, and beer. While tempting to grab a beer I was on my lunch hour at work and thought I better not. My stylist came out to greet me and take me back, she was absolutely the nicest person. What I like about the set up is every station seemed to have its own little space making the experience feel very private and personal. My stylist took her time talking to me about the cut and talked about the textures and weight of my hair before even making the first cut. The entire experience in the chair from start to finish was phenomenal. The attention to detail, the suggestions, the conversation, and everything in between made this hands down the best haircut I have ever had. While definitely higher on the price scale I will definitely come back (just less often than a normal hair schedule) because without a doubt this place is worth it. read more

Reagan explained clearly everything she was doing, and she asked me lots of questions along the way, so that I was taking the lead. Appointments have all been right on time, and an all-around pleasant experience. I cut my own hair for three years during covid and for awhile after, so this was my first experience back in a salon. Tried 18|8 for the first time yesterday. Had been searching for someplace to get my haircut that actually understood the style I was looking for and had a stylist who could give me that look. Always apprehensive about trying something new but after reading the reviews decided to give them a try. 18|8 is an appointment only shop so if you go, make sure you book ahead of time. Nice decor when you walk in and was greeted personally by a hostess and offered a beverage while I waited. Reagan was great and quickly was able to show me how we could improve my look. She did a great job and would definitely recommend her specifically as you need to choose a stylist when you book.
