After living in the area for almost a year, I finally found a barber shop that gives me the cut I want. I was greeted at the front desk and then led back to the shop as it is connected to a salon. The whole space (barber shop and salon) were both well kept. The barber shop had an awesome vibe to it. Casey cut my hair and I told him how I like it cut along with pictures of past cuts I had from a barber in my home town. We had good conversation and he was a really nice guy. A couple shops I went to in this area, didn't use the straight razor at the end, which was very surprising to me, as I thought it was standard practice as a barber. I will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone looking for a barber shop. read more

Hidden away in the back of Uber stylish MGD salon ( I'm not kidding about the hidden, I drove around strip mall city for a good 10 minutes looking for it) is an austere man cave of a barbershop. Kid distractions are scattered about while a fully stocked beer fridge keep up the dude cred. Our Barber was patient and focused on my 15 year old who adamantly did not want a haircut but whose mind was changed upon settling into the chair of this cool space. Vintage drum light fixtures, a wall of local concert posters and huge American flag cemented the vibe. The service was attentive but not annoying and I was especially impressed by a later arriving barber who brought his entire kit of speciation tools and product with him and neatly set them up in an exacting manner. There is a downtown Indianapolis location the staff floats in and out of which is a better fit for me but I am sure the service and ambiance is similar. Stay tuned read more

Black Orchid Barbers has become my go-to spot for looking good. I have visited several of the other well-known barbers around town, and none of them beat Black Orchid when it comes to environment, quality of service, and overall satisfaction. I have not had a bad cut yet, and I have used 3 or 4 different barbers to this point. The staff is all incredibly talented, well trained, but also super relaxed and great to talk to. This is the best place to get a haircut in Carmel or Downtown, period! read more
