Unfortunately, management is unwilling to speak to those who smoke tobacco, weed, crack, or vape…read morein the theater. It is enclosed, with no ventilation, so frequent trips there could lead to serious health issues. I will never return.

My advice to Sunset's owner would be to remember that every single customer can contribute to…read moreboth the success and failure of your business. When it becomes okay for you to loose a customer it means you are ungrateful and not good for the future of your business. Without customers you have nothing! I have been a customer here for 20 years. There are 3 customer service clerks, one of which is the owner. He works once in a while and when one of the other two guys is on vacation. He is the rudest and least helpful of all the men working there and he has an attitude that says 'screw u customer'. One day over the past month, I paid my money and went in and was sitting in a booth. About 20 mn later the light went on in the place and suddenly there were a bunch of guys + the owner bringing new benches and chairs into the theater room. I was in the booth with the door locked, but after 20 min of the non stop noise created by the moving and installation of 'new' chairs and benches, I walked out of the booth and said wtf is going on here. The owner immediately flipped at me and said he would just be a few more minutes. 25 min later I came out of the booth again and asked him for a refund. He got down right nasty with me. I said, if you were going to shut the theater down to do some work you should have told me when I paid you to enter and I would have not paid you, not gone in and come back another time. I reminded him that I am a customer there 20 years if not more. He didn't seem to care and pulled out of his pocket a damp 10.00 bill and gave it to me and told me NEXT TIME don't come here. FY u asshole. A few days later, I came there during the day when he wasn't there, paid, went in and not totally to my surprise, the benches and other chairs he had tried to install were all gone. It appears the benches he was trying to install there were to high and so they pulled them out. I stayed there about 20 min and then left. A week later I went back at night and the owner was on 'duty' and he had the balls to tell me he will let me in but he doesn't want me to be a problem. And if I am going to be a problem, then don't go in. I responded by telling him that I am going to file a report with the human right commission and claim discrimination against the place. I have an appointment to discuss the incident with the HRC in late September. As of today, I have not returned to Sunset Video and will not until perhaps such a time comes that I might, but at the moment they lose 10.00 per day x's an average of 4 days per week. They don't really care.

It's not a big store size wise but they do pack a lot of punch. Service is kind and friendly, often times they can get busy due to the demand but they manage. Items are priced slightly above par, but that's pretty common when it comes to K-pop memorabilia.

I walked into a store that is essentially one large room, and the density of product on display meant navigating it during a busy period required some patience, but the selection within that compact space was broader than the size suggested. The Korean literature section covers both Korean language and English language editions across a range of genres, which makes it genuinely useful for anyone studying the language or looking for titles that are difficult to find at general bookstores in the city. I saw children's books in Korean, well stocked. The K pop side of the store covers albums, photocards, posters, keychains, stickers, and merchandise across a wide range of artists, with BTS having a particularly strong presence historically alongside newer groups. Pricing runs higher than what I would pay ordering online or finding the same items at a larger retailer, which is the standard trade off for a specialty shop in Manhattan. Album prices in particular can be steep, though sale events bring them down to more competitive territory. Individual accessory items like stickers and bookmarks are priced at a premium relative to their size, so going in with a sense of what I am willing to spend helps avoid sticker shock at the register. The store is a reliable stop for anyone looking for Korean books or K pop merchandise in a physical retail setting in New York, with the caveat that the pricing and the crowd level are both factors worth knowing about before I go.
