I was in the area and dropped in to get my first tattoo. There's a erotic store next door, which holds the most reviews. Felt like I needed to leave a review to give the tattoo shop justice. As I walked in, the staff greeted me with a friendly hello. I asked if an artist was available, and Sahyu just so happened to be in. She explained the process and paperwork and got right to it. I was there for less than half an hour for a tatt on my inner arm. It didn't hurt as much as I thought. Less than a 'blood work' needle. It was quick, clean, and informative. I would recommend this place to all vegans/vegetarians out there looking for a VEGAN tattoo. Yes, they use vegan ink!!!!! They also provide piercings and accessories for smokers. do NOT come here for piercings. I cannot stress it enough. 1. they do not have an autoclave. i repeat they do not have an autoclave. it is basically an essential part of the piercing process as it properly sanitizes the jewelry. they only spray it with alcohol. 2. the jewelry is threaded & they don't sell threadless. they have a tiny selection of titanium (still threaded) and mostly use surgical stainless steel. 3. No aftercare talk whatsoever. It's scary to even think about. The lady pierced my friend and I and said goodbye. I told me friend we needed to go buy salt for our salt soaks. She was like, what's that? I can't imagine coming here and not knowing. (I knew it was bad the moment she grabbed the jewelry straight out the box but I was with my friend and decided it can't be that bad, right? wrong. so wrong. I'm almost afraid they reuse the needles. 4. I paid in cash. What a mistake. I WISH I had paid on card so I could contest it, but the girl at the counter convinced me to go over to Chase and take money out, that way I didn't have to "pay tax". 5. they are also NOT APP certified/approved which explains a lot. 6. I got 2 piercings, both FELL OUT after 4 days (ok the same night). I went there for help, it was horrible. First off, the guy was like "where did you get that pierced? the bar is way too short." I had walked over as soon as my forward helix fell out. I said "I know!!! and here." Like even they are shocked by their own terrible work. He told me to come back the next day because he "didn't have a piercer." He went over to box of jewelry, grabbed a longer bar and told me to go hole, put alcohol on it and "try to put it in" and sent me away. At this point I was so frustrated. I went out and looked on yelp for any place that had reputable piercers I could as to put it in. As I was doing this, my web piercing fell out. Yeah, you can imagine how I felt at this point. It was late too. The guy I walked over to said he wouldn't touch it for weeks because he didn't want to be responsible. When I told him the place, he just shook his head. I walked back over to Fantasy and told the guy I talked to my OTHER piercing fell out, at this point in tears, because not only had I spent upwards of $100 I worked hard for at my minimum wage job, but I felt like an idiot. Guess what, a piercer was there. Said "oh I don't want to talk shit on anyone but you know" and so it went. Offered to have me come back in a week. I said I wouldn't want to get repierced here and just want me money back. They basically blamed me for spending it in the first place and told me to deal with the consequences. There are many issues with the story. The fact that they would think my piercing(s) wouldn't close up overnight. The fact there actually was a piercer. The fact the guy didn't have clean hands in the slightest and was touching all the jewelry in the box and they don't sanitize *shivers*, the fact I got treated so poorly, the fact that everyone looks down upon this shop and specifically the piercer I was with. Anyway, at the very least PAY WITH CARD & BEWARE. At least if you got this far you know the consequences. read more

There are no less than 6 adult shops on this one block by the W 4th St stop, between shopping for a couple items and being incredibly curious about the differences between the stores and wanting to find the best one I took the time to visit each of them. 3 of them I would recommend, 3 of them I would not. This place has a front room that is mostly gag gifts and novelty items (probably one of the best selection of these kind of things if that's what you're looking for) and it slowly gets more interesting as you get to the back and then there's a back room that's all business. They have little to no movies here if that's what you're looking for. The best and the worst part is the customer service. The best is that they are available when you need help and leave you alone when you don't need them. They also have more than one person on staff which is nice and both sales people were pretty girls in their 20s with whom I would be very comfortable asking questions. Unfortunately the girl I had help me seemed to know very little and wasn't knowledgeable at all, I think they just hired her because she was a cute Russian girl who wanted to work in a sex shop. Overall the selection is pretty good, the prices (though a bit steep on some things) are decent, and it's a comfortable store to shop in. read more

This was my second time here, which I visited with Miss Sarit. Although you may not actually buy anything it is good for a laugh and browsing about. The prices range from acceptable to OMG, but their selection is vast and ridiculous. The employees here are very kind, and always willing to help and they care about their product and services; they will usually attempt to upsell you, as good sales personnel will do, but that just shows pride in their work from my standpoint. Some things I see here seem like they could be beneficial for some people: They have lingerie, bdsm gear, latex, c-rings, lube and party favors for bachelorette parties while other things I see them hard-pressed to sell (I wont even mention some of it here!) Went in there because I wanted to get a tattoo. I was getting a quote that I really like but I had no idea what style I wanted. The employee at the reception was extremely nice and welcoming and showed me a site with lots of different fonts that I could choose from. We went over it together until I found a typewriter font that I really liked. I'm not sure what's the name of the artist who tattooed me but she was very nice and the price was good for NYC. All the staff there was welcoming and awesome. I saw them dealing with a (rude) customer who wanted a piercing but had no ID. They handled it in a very pleasant way and she left the store smiling even though she didn't get the piercing she wanted. All in all it was a good experience and I'm very happy with my tattoo. I had a horrible experience here. Venus, who pierced my tragus immediately made a mistake with the jewelry and started freaking out. I sat with the needle in my ear for 20 minutes! She was rude and highly unprofessional. She dropped the jewelry on the ground twice. She was talking to herself & cursing while I was waiting with the needle stuck in my ear! I was extremely uncomfortable. When she finally found the correct jewelry, she rushed it into my ear, saying she had to finish immediately so she could have a cigarette. I paid full price for an experience that was unprofessional, uncomfortable & unsettling. I hope a manager or owner takes notice of this issue. read more

With the abundance of adult shops around W4, you'd think it would be tough to stand out, but Fantasy Party does a great job. I'm usually just browsing when I initially walk in, but I almost always leave with something new. They have a wide selection of novelty items, toys, lingerie, games, you name it. The staff was always helpful and available. They recommended I go across the street to Chase because my total was going to be cheaper with cash and they helped my decide between two items that I needed a female perspective on. Prices here usually fall in line with other spots or they're cheaper. I've never had an issue with purchases being broken or malfunctioning, but it seems pretty standard that all sales are final. I spontaneously went in last night with a friend to get our noses pierced. I was very nervous since it's been years since I've gotten anything pierced, but the staff there was very friendly and patient. My piercer did a great job helping me choose the jewelry and was very professional through the whole experience. He made sure to explain exactly what was happening at all times, and everything was done within minutes. In addition, he gave me a printed out page with all the after-care instructions, which was a huge plus since I was too nervous to remember what he said and it was quite late. will definitely go back there. read more

There are at least 5 or 6 different other adult stores on that block alone, but what makes me go back is they have some of the lowest prices and largest selection of the adult stores in the area so yeah I really like them. The worst store I've been to of any kind. Really bad and rude sales staff. A bag of $4 pop rocks that I was going to buy came open so I put it back and took another when a nasty sales woman came over and said "sir you're going to have to pay for this, I saw you open it." For someone to come out with such a lie to sell a bag of pop rocks but to loose a customer us foolish and a bad business move. The seal on that bag could have been weak and all she would have to do is get her credit from the distributor and save face in front of a customer. Apparently this place has been under new management for a year and a half now, but I still think after reading previous reviews that the positive vibes still stand. The staff was friendly and Sanyu was super accommodating and chill. I wanted a small rectangle above my elbow and I made her replace is 10 times because I hated the way it was twisting. She never once was unkind or unhelpful. She changed the size and angle until it was perfect. She quoted my boyfriend and I based on what we wanted and the size - and did the same with other customers who came in. The most incredibly negative experience of my life. My friend and I walked in here trying to get tattoos, and after we paid the staff their attitude immediately changed for the worse. Whenever we tried to explain what we wanted, they acted condescending and rude basically trying to tell us that we were crazy for thinking the lines in their sketches were uneven. Just because we had already paid, doesn't mean you can do half assed work for something that's going to be on my body for the rest of my life. It's such an incredibly messed up game to play and I hope no one else ever has to experience this while trying to get a tattoo. read more

Despite the sketchy characters around, this place was quite an experience. They have a great selection of novelty adult items and costumes. I'll admit, they don't sell the most high quality things but it is more or less a novelty store so I didn't expect much. What I also didn't expect is to receive such great customer service! They did not hover over you and they also respected your privacy. They are well informed of the products they carry and they know exactly what to recommend. First off this was my third shop on the area after a full day of work. Every other shop was either over priced or filled with employes playing candy crush and actively ignoring me. This place was a sexy breathe of fresh air. I came here looking for a batchorlette party gift. Most of the go to stuff ,buttons and shashes are cheaper at party city. but if you didn't bother to do your research you should have to pay more because you're stupid. The really cream of the crop here are those items that party city is to family friendly to sell. But in the end I end up with some edible undies, the flavor selection is slightly mind blowing (haha blowing), lots of options. This store was good for being comfortable to shop in, HOWEVER, the price on one of the items I wanted to purchase was illegible. The salesgirl quoted me one price and I decided to purchase that item with several others (with my husband). We reviewed the receipts when we got home and found we ha been charged 64.99 rather than the quoted 34.99, but they did give us a 15% discount (a total of $22 on entire purchase). There were no return policies listed, but I can only assume, due to the nature of the items, that it can't be returned. Disappointing ! read more
