Let's just say this. I've been seated outside for well over an hour and no sign of our food order or server. If I see her again we will just pay for the drinks and leave. Waste of an afternoon. Edit: it took an hour and a half but ultimately we did bail and paid for our drinks and left. This was the worst service I've had in years anywhere. First time here. Came in for the half off oysters every Tuesday from 5-9p! Oysters were superb! Mediterranean salad was feminist wished had more cucumbers and tomatoes. Ribeye was cooked perfectly! Will come back again! read more

I would have liked to give them five stars instead of four but it is what it is as they say. For was really good, we (wife and myself) had the Italian sandwich (enough for two) and I had the "Wild Game Burger". For what it was it was ok, a wee bit gamey. However they do not serve French fries before 5:00 pm, had to settle for a bag of chips. A handful of beers on draft, served cold! Our server was super sweet, nice and helpful. However our food took for ever to make it out. That's a kitchen issue not the servers. There was maybe 8-10 people there when we stopped by so not really busy. The physical space itself was very clean but it has an almost welcoming feel, almost. Given more time they may pull it all together. read more

I'll start with the good - we ordered a salad and sandwich to split. The club was excellent, but not a traditional club with several layers. Still really tasty though, and we enjoyed it The salad was pretty big. We also took home a half pound of rosemary ham from the deli counter, which made excellent grilled cheese and ham sandwiches the next day. The staff was also friendly. The downside - right off the bat someone was smoking on the deck where we sat at the bar to eat. Incredibly rude, but not illegal. We had to ask for menus after sitting for at least 10 mins. When we ordered the food, I requested an additional plate & bowl. They brought an extra plate when our food arrived, but no bowl and no silverware or napkins. It was another 10 mins before we could get someone's attention to ask for it. When we did, the first girl immediately forgot (we watched her just wander around aimlessly). We waited another 5 mins to flag someone else down to ask for the items. On leaving, we walked by a table with 3 dogs (2 small, 1 very large--not going to name them here). The couple that brought the dogs was initially out on the deck, and we enjoyed chatting with them and talking about their dogs. At some point they moved to the front patio because their large dog began barking at someone and it was disturbing all of the customers. During our meal, we could hear the dog barking at other people. As we walked out, I said something to them like, "oh y'all moved out here." The man said his dog was acting up, I said, "aww he's a good boy." Just about the time I said that, my husband started walking towards our vehicle. The dog lunged 3 to 4 feet towards my husband and grabbed his elbow, and then as my husband turned out of alarm, the dog released him. At this point, my husband started to walk away again, and the dog lurched forward a second time, and grabbed the back of his shirt, tearing a hole in it. The man pulled the dog back and began hitting the dog in the face. At this point, neither of us wanted to cause a scene. I was appalled that he was hitting the dog and he didn't even apologize to us. There were at least 10 other people out on the patio. Since my husband was not bleeding, and we were just shocked at the situation, we left. When we got home 10 mins later, I called the restaurant to let them know what happened -- since it is a huge liability for them. I was told that they would inform the owner about it. I was also told that the people were "regulars" (as if that makes it OK), and that they had left the restaurant. They did ask if my husband was OK, and I told them that if he wasn't, we would've called the police, but that we left so that we didn't cause a scene in front of their business. I guess if we go back, I will just be ordering takeout, or visiting the deli. However, we're not in a hurry to return. read more

On a busy Saturday afternoon we stopped at 1878 Butcher's Block for the first time and we ordered carryout. We were told it would take about 30 minutes to prepare our meal but 15 minutes later we received our order. We were both very pleased with everything we ordered. I had The Judge (9.5) while my husband had The Vito; both were delicious and they were so filling that together with side salads we made two meals of them. Everything was very fresh and quite tasty. The Lemonade Blueberry Cheesecake was a perfect end to the meals. We're thrilled that Landrum has added another fabulous restaurant to the lineup, and we will definitely be back. read more

Don't come expecting great food to eat onsite, I haven't tried their meat counter but they seem to have a good variety although they were out of most items on my last visit. The salads are small and sparse, the sandwiches are decent and appetizers lack in variety but the atmosphere is cool. The wait staff is young and not quite ready for southern hosting but I think they'll get there eventually with the right coaching. Overall, its great spot to hang out in Landrum for a drink, just don't expect too much in the way of cuisine and you'll love it! read more
