We ordered the whiskey sour (that had a float of red wine (bad decision)...I really wish I had just ordered a regular whiskey sour. None the less, my husband got the rosita and ended up switching with my friend bc she hated the one we got (too tart). Sazerac was delish but super small volume. Wow! We went in on the spur of the moment and were glad we did! The bartender was friendly and attentive, they have the best bourbon collection that I've seen in town, and the whiskey flights were great! Just stopped in for a drink before heading home and started most of the night. Probably go back tonight. read more

You may wonder why we returned. Truth be told, San Angelo doesn't have a lot of true cocktail bars from which to choose. 19 Thirty Three has improved a great deal. They have a far more diverse spirit inventory and their menu has been greatly expanded. We both ordered off their fall menu. My Pear Fizz was refreshing, very light, and did not taste any more like autumn than it did spring or summer. But it was pleasant. My husband's Apricot Old-Fashioned was decent, though a little flat in some way. I suspect that being a fabulous bartender is a lot like being a fabulous cook: most people can follow a recipe for a drink or a dish, but there's a certain nuance that makes someone really exceptional -- knowing that a dash more or less of bitters gives a drink oomph, or that a single Jack and water shouldn't be served in the same size glass as a double Jack and water. Looking for a good experience is based on who's working the shift that night..and even then it's a toss up. Ive been a dozen times, knowing how often their bartenders were coming and going. They have complained about making a martini? They shouldnt be working there then..Went one weekend where the drinks were made correctly then the next weekend the SAME bartender couldnt make them right that night. 4.5 Stars Location Overview: San Angelo's mini "6th Street". Downtown San Angelo, next to many other bars. This bar sits next to a little breakfast place. There is front/back and indoor seating for this establishment. The bar is average in size. Has great color scheme and seating is everywhere. The front outside has about 2-4 tables for sitting. The back outside has a breakfast bar style seating (smokers section). The main reason this bar is given 4.5 stars and not 5.0 is because the music selection is honestly, not that great. Beware the bearded ponytail Hispanic bartender, he only plays the music he likes and does not change the genre....ever! Customer Service: This is the usual spot for friend and myself to have drinks, we are always greeted right away by staff. Even when we get lost in the back (smokers section) bartenders check in us about every 10-20 minutes to make sure we are good. Never dealt with rude staff, always party lucky go happy bartenders. In the mood to try something new, ask the bartenders, they make great suggestions! Consistently stay on top of drinks and handling. Quantity/Quality: The quantity of alcohol in this establishment is well arranged here. I have never come into this bar and been told they were out of a liquor/beer. If you drink nothing but Budlight, they are stocked. The quality of the mixed drinks and daiquiris are very good. The daiquiris are not watered down, they are thick and have that perfect hint of alcohol flavor. Mixed drinks take a little while to be made (not too sure why), but come to you with great presentation and not too heavy liquor. Milky Way martinis are to die for, Chocolate lovers this is your heaven on earth. Side Notes: Not recommended for crowds over 6. Great atmosphere. I went here with my friend. We ordered a total of 6 daiquiris between us. I had three small daiquiris; and she had two small and one large. Our total bill was 25.50. I personally was surprised how inexpensive our bill was. I read a complaint about the price, but coming from Virginia I was pleasantly surprised how inexpensive the bill was. The service was fantastic and they let us try some flavors before ordering. The bar was small and had a few tables and three large couches. The night we went (Saturday evening) was not very busy and the crowd seemed to be a bit older than a college scene, late twenties or early thirties. The bar was clean and modern looking. This bar just opened in 2018. The earlier review are for Grinners, formerly at this location. 1933 is touted as a craft cocktail bar. It is not. Only 3-4 types of gin. They had Tanq., Bombay Sapphire and Hendricks on the shelf. They probably had a house as well. The bartender was subpar. Could not make a Martinez! Lord help us if I had ordered a Veiux Carre or a Paper Plane Tried their house specialty Paloma. Terrible. Drinks were cheap. They were small as well. Would not waste my time in this place. The bar at my house is better stocked than the 1993 bar. read more

Ordered a margarita and it was delicious. I usually get it frozen/blended but I ordered it on the rocks because that is all they offer. I was a little nervous at first but oh my gosh it was delicious. Best margarita I've ever had. She put so much work into my drink and it was perfect! My boyfriend got a Bloody Mary and he says it is the best Bloody Mary he has ever had! That says a lot coming from someone who is very critical of his drinks. read more

While the bar itself is nice, and the specialty drink I had (cucumber martini) was good once I removed all the salt from the glass, the namesake of the business falls flat. $4 for a tiny daiquiri that, while it wasn't terrible, I couldn't taste the alcohol in it. It honestly tasted like something I would've gotten as a Slurpee at 7-11. When I went to visit my friends in Biloxi, MS back in Apr, we took a drive over to Slidell, LA to a daiquiri place. For $6 I got a huge banana banshee that not only tasted fantastic, but I could definitely taste the rum in it. One of these, and I was good to go for a few hours. So I could let this go...except for the fact the "bouncer" comes over to my friend, who has her Coach sunglasses on her head, and tells her since the sun has gone down they're "enforcing the dress code." So while these little douche bags are running around with baseball caps on their head (not to mention the girls that have no clue how to dress themselves...yes honey, your rolls are showing), she has to stow her Coach sunglasses in her purse. Really dude? I'm convinced Texas security/cops love screwing with women. My boyfriend hasn't received a ticket yet here. Me? If I'm going more than 5 mph, instant ticket. I don't even get asked where I'm in a hurry to, nothing. Texas cops must have gotten rejected a lot when they were younger, or think we're easy prey. Too many goats in West Texas? Awww.... Traveled to San Angelo a few weeks ago for a BBQ competition. Arrived in town late Friday night and headed downtown looking for a drink after the long drive from the Dallas Metroplex. Grinners was the first place we noticed, walked and and was pleasantly surprised to find an upscale, contemporary lounge in a small town. Service was great, energetic atmosphere and drinks were spot on. Tried the frozen Jack n Coke, really good(on the rocks my fav). Went to the Texas Independence BBQ competition on Saturday, good times. Headed back to Grinners that night. Same great experience and the place was packed. read more

A decent bar for a small town. Wish there was a dance floor.

Decided to visit this place on New Years eve. Big mistake. It cost $15 for me and my wife to get in the door. This was not no surprise as most bars were changing a cover to get inside. The difference is that usually the money goes to get you something. Usually a band, champagne at the countdown and party favors. The DJ they hired seemed to have trouble with his equipment half the night. The videos they were playing were the best of the worst. I saw videos from milli vanilli, color me badd, and bel biv devoe. Really? I was really shocked the owner didn't spring for plastic cups and champagne for the countdown. Perhaps they should change the name of this bar to Greedy's Daiquiri Bar? $15 to get in for the opportunity to pay $7 for frozen jack n coke. I didn't taste any jack though.
