It's a fun place to hang out and they have decent food. It's a full bar and I counted 25 beers on tap - they have many more available in cans and bottles. I went to The Penny Tap House (Friday, 09/10/2021) because of their post (see comments). I asked Chelsea, "Does this apply now?" (Meaning time of day, 1:30). She answered rudely, "Well, isn't today Friday?!" Then, didn't know if it did or did not. She asked Brittney, who answered, "It should be all day." Turns out, it's only from 3:00-8:00 because my friend's water-downed drink rang-up full-price. I didn't order because Chelsea put me in a temporarily bad mood. I took my business where I know there's great service and drinks! TPTH responded to my review and totally missed the point and blamed me, the customer. Chelsea maintained her sarcasm by "loving" my response. I thought I'd found the best burger in town (the Cheddar Blanket Burger with Chipotle Aioli at Zero One Ale House), but PTH's The Cure Burger definitely made me reconsider, and might have dethroned the champ. The Cure burger's chorizo/beef blend was flavorful and blended perfectly with the crispy bacon, egg, & grilled onions (no jalapeños for this gringo). Very juicy and filling. First time visiting. Drinks were reasonable, food was reasonable yet expensive, but cleanliness was subpar. The bartender continued to stack glasses in front of me instead of washing them. Then, she dumped a tower of glasses on me spilling everything. If this is how they maintain the cleanliness of what you can see, imagine the kitchen. I came here to try it out. The bar is pretty spacious. I came around 6pm and it had about 10 people. I ordered the blood orange cider and the penny cheesesteak. The cider tastes ok because I didn't detect much of the blood orange taste. The penny cheesesteak was pretty tasty. The marinated meat did pay off. The sauce was all right. The grilled bell pepper and onion didn't make much of a presence. I also changed the fries to truffle fries and the fries tasted decent. read more

Back in town visiting and met up with old friends at the Penny. Remembering my previous visit, I didn't have high expectations. Unfortunately the place has not improved. For a Friday night, the place was not crowded however this made no difference in terms of the service. For the first round we went up to the bar to order. We waited at least five minutes before our order was taken. Two different bartenders kept saying they'd be right with us. After the bartender, Big Boobs McHoulihan who seemed more concerned with her chest falling out of her shirt than serving patrons, took the order of her friend in line behind us we finally got our drinks. At no point in the evening did one of the several waitresses come by our table for drink orders. However at the end of the night, one did try to clear our table with my drink half full; I had to snatch it back from her. In recent years, the Penny has offered food and still does however it would be wise for the Health Dept. to do a surprise inspection. We could see into the kitchen from our table and it was filthy (pic posted). The cook even left out a package of ground beef sitting out for more than 45 minutes. He even left it out while he went out the side door to get stoned with the band while they took a break. I'll have the E. Coli & Reefer Burger please! Sad to see this place go down the toilet. read more

First time here I have been to Knosh and the flavors of the food is great at both restaurants. The service is great. The food came out for wife 10 minutes before mine. Something about the cooks at the two locations, my food has not even been warm. I have never had lukewarm to cold cheese-steak or hash browns at a restaurant. If this place can serve warm to hot food it wood be 4-5 stars. I love the menu and the atmosphere. I was too hungry to send the food back. I see great opportunity for a great food experience. Maybe I will give a third try since the food flavor is so good. I would say try the food and ask they make sure the food is warm when served. I wonder if Texas doesn't serve hot food it has happened at 4 different restaurant I have been to. read more

I just can't find anything to complain about. Stephanie made me a great classic gimlet and had great recommendations. I couldn't decide what i wanted and her suggestion hit my mood, mouth, and belly with a trifecta! Sriracha-Buffalo Sliders are amazing. The chicken is lightly crisped and the inside is super juicy! My husband stole one and 1/2 my fries. It was more than enough to fill me and make me happy! Husband had Spicy Lettuce Wraps. He loves many different Asian dishes that are eaten wrapped in lettuce and he loves all things spicy. I knew it would be sweeter than he likes because of the teriyaki sauce and i was right, but i also know other people like sweet, so i can't fault it in this review. The meat, peppers and onions are like fajitas only with teriyaki. I am eager to try the Tap House BLT Sliders, the Free Range Chicken Sandwich, the Charcuterie Board, and the Tap House Calamari.... so i have to go at least twice more before i leave town next month (assuming my husband will order what i want and share with me). read more

This place is fantastic. Their handcrafted cocktails are out of this world. I highly recommend the penny smasher, but definitely be careful. It's so delicious you won't realize that it is almost entirely whiskey. The staff is attentive and friendly. It's the perfect mix of a casual atmosphere with quality cocktails and good beers on tap. i've only had a couple of items from the menu, but what I did have was really good. Sliders were great. Avocado tostadas were also great. They have Geeks Who Drink trivia on Wednesday nights too. Good crowd. This is a great place to have a few too many drinks after work. Highly recommend. read more

Good service with amazing wings. Tonight the Sriracha Buffalo wings had mild heat with a nice, surprising flavor I was not expecting. The wings are big and meaty cooked to a fine crispy finish I also tried the Ginger Soy sauce on the second set of six wings. Flavor was very good but I was surprised by the sweetness. If your low carbing it like I am don't go for this sauce. read more

This is a great place in San Angelo! Our first visit here was enough to convince us to return each time we're in town. They have great craft and domestic beers on tap and great food on the menu. The service was great, and Ransom in particular really made the night even better. He had some great food suggestions and even suggested some great beers when we were ready for something different. They also have a full bar if beer isn't your thing. The wings were really good and the truffle shuffle fries were out of this world. They have a happy hour and a pint night on Tuesdays, definitely check out their website for details and upcoming bands. There's a pool table and darts for a nice friendly competition with your friends. They have a stage and live music on some nights, we'll definitely come back for that. A really nice little quaint pub. Bartender told us all craft beer were 3.50 on this Tuesday night which we thought was cool. I had a couple of my favorite Stash IPA and my lady had a couple Art Car IPA. We got our bill and paid it... but when I got home I realized I had been screwed by the bartendress... Four beers at 3.50 each should have been 14.00 but my total bill was 19.88. Pretty sure tax wasn't over 30 percent. So if you decide to visit her watch your bill closely! Came in looking for fried pickles and they did not disappoint ended up getting 2 baskets . The Cobb salad had half an avocado which was very good. Man how this place has changed! I used to frequent this place way back when. This is my first time back since it's been called the Penny Tap House. It is definitely a large bar with tons of seating. The outside is very closed off and the seating out there is very limited. They have a large stage for live music and tons of TV's around for all of the sports lovers. Our waitress was very attentive and very friendly. She had lots of conversations with us rather than just dropping off drinks. The vibe is definitely great and I can't wait to head back to see a show sometime. read more

We were recommended this place by several individuals, so we decided to give it a try. Place was very easy to find, but when we got in there my thought was like that's it? But I didn't let my first impression to get to me. They got some typical bar games available for you to enjoy while you're hanging out at PTH. One thing that was odd to me is that pool table was pay-to-play only. One of my friends had to get some quarters to play it. That was kind of cheap, but ok. When I think of tap house, this is definitely it. Their chose of on tap brews was quite impressive for such a small place. I had some of them and they weren't disappointing. Good selection of food and other than brew beverages. Atmosphere wasn't as welcoming, but they did have live music playing, so that was a win for sure. Our server was very pleasant, she gets my 5 stars for service. As far as food goes I cannot fully review it, because I had calamari appetizer, which I did enjoy a lot. The sauce really added to the meat, I have no complains about that particular thing as all. If I had to chose to come back or not I probably would've chosen to come back. I was here over the weekend, on a Friday night. I went with my mom to meet with her college friends (she just finished her Masters program at Angelo State). I was expecting it to be super crowded as my mom told me this was mostly a college kid spot, but that wasn't the case at all. Super mixed crowd between college kids and older couples/friends and enough room for them all and then some. The atmosphere is sports bar. They had basketball games playing on TVs and projected on the far back wall. But also a jukebox playing. It was actually a pretty cool environment that could kind of appeal to different crowds at the same time. We were there between 7:30 and 9:30ish and college classes were finished so this may not be the atmosphere most weekends just FYI! The food was pretty awesome! I had the PTH Burger and it was extremely delicious and I highly recommend it. My mom got the nachos with chicken (which she ordered about 10 minutes after I ordered), and it came with a lot of guacamole and was nice and cheesy. The issue we had was they took close to 45 minutes to get out to us, which is slightly ridiculous for some nachos (especially since they were on the appetizer section). I'm not sure if our server just forgot to put in the order or if the kitchen fell behind (but again the place was by no means packed so it really shouldn't have been an issue). As far as the older posts with bad ratings, I was given a quick history while there and basically the place use to be more hole in the wall dump. They however have new ownership/management (I heard around Fall 2016 but not sure) so I wouldn't let those posts deter you in any way. I tried ordering another drink but the bartenders behind the bar were too busy making jokes with each other and watching videos on their phones to notice. About 80% of the time, this restaurant has very good food! Sometimes it's over cooked and flavorless (not sure what that's about, but it has happened more than twice). Their burgers are delicious, especially The Cure! The main reason I gave them 3 stars is for their service. It takes FOREVER to get your food. You can chalk that up to it being a good place to eat, but don't go if you're starving. An hour is an average wait for your food. read more
