Since the place I wanted to eat was only doing carryout on a Saturday , I needed something new in a jam. I happened to find this quaint joint in the Rocks. The action around the restaurant is interesting but the food & service was fabulous. To start the eggplant appetizer with the homemade tomato marinara was amazing. 4 big pieces on a dish just tickling my taste buds. Oil and bread to accompany it with a salad having mixed greens & some head lettuce. For my entree I had chicken Parmigiano and it comes with pasta which was enough for a meal itself. I took plenty of leftovers home for tomorrow's lunch. The pricing is more like 3 stars than 2 but well worth it for the authenticity and portions. Yum

Fantastic food that the pictures speak for themselves! I enjoyed this place and will be back many more times.

1905 is one of those restaurants that offers good food and friendly service. On our recent visit I had the Crab ravioli with some veggies; think it was a daily special. While I enjoyed the ravioli it seemed to just be OK, I guess I was expecting more flavor. The meal came with a tossed salad and some fresh bread. 1905 is small and noisy. There was a table of 12 that was very noisy.

I have been hearing good things about 1905 Eatery so I met a friend there for lunch today. We ordered the appetizer "fried provolone". I am a huge fan of the fried provolone and often order this appetizer when I go out to eat so I expected the typical wheel or stick shape... but folks what I didn't realize is that I was about the eat the best fried provolone in town!! I am so glad I ordered it. It was bursting with flavor ...it was like real homemade fried provolone. Accompanied with a side of their sauce .. our taste buds were singing! We both ordered a house salad with our meals and had the homemade dressing (oil and vinegar or Italian not sure) but it was good. The ingredients in the salad were fresh.   My friend ordered the cap egg and cheese sandwich and told me that it became more delicious with each bite. The sandwich was oozing with fresh ingredients and had a nice aroma.   I had the lasagna and it was good. Plenty of flavor and it wasn't all cheese. The service is a little on the slow side since there is only one waitress working. I wouldn't expect to be in and out. BYOB- fun to bring your own bottle of wine.

We went early and had plenty of room to spread out

Over all pricey for that neighborhood but in line for the food. The service was personable and accommodating. My comments were relayed to the kitchen and acknowledged. Why only 3 stars you may ask well the beans and greens had the bitter taste of using too much of the water used to boil the chard. The tripe was chewy and the lobster ravioli was salty in spots like the cook was saying my tripe is chewy f.u. have extra salt. Next time I will try the muscles maybe.

Being a past owner of a bar, I would think the owner would have more help in the kitchen and on the floor. We were told that the owner was sitting, listening to the music, and not offering to help the staff. We really enjoyed the live music, the food, and the drinks. But we felt sorry for the staff having to put up with the large crowd. Therefore, I must give the owners a 1 star for his lack of management skills. Kudos to the 3 staff members, one being the owner's wife , the solitary cook in the kitchen.

Roti's are primarily a Trinidadian / Guyanese dish which and is derived from their East Indian roots. However, being born and raised in NYC, the Jamaican restaurants knew how to properly make Roti, despite it not being their original dish. This was by far one of most egregious and disrespectful attempts at making a "Roti" I've ever seen. This place used store bought, soft taco shells, sprayed with cooking oil, and warmed up in a microwave. Roti flatbread cannot be substituted for any other kind flatbread albeit, Naan, Pita, or Flour Tortilla. It changes the flavor of the dish and renders it a completely different dish. Not only was the preparation of the "Roti" absurd, but the customer service was trash. I requested a copy of my receipt and the lady who prepared my food told me she would text it to me. Not only did she ask me to repeat my number numerous times, but she had 1 earbud in while she was taking my number. Therefore, she was not paying attention. After I inspected my food and decided to leave the restaurant, knowing that there was no use in trying to get my "Roti" order fixed, I realized I still didn't get my receipt. I returned to the front counter and informed her that I didn't get my receipt and she insisted that I repeat my phone number again, slowly. I complied, and as I sit here writing this review, I still do not have my receipt. I will say, all in all, aside from the ludicrous attempt at making roti by using store bought flour tortillas, the curried goat was actually good.

We tried to make a reservation but nothing was available. My friend insisted on putting our name on a standby list and the restaurant was extremely excited to call us with a cancellation, which they said rarely happens. I was excited to introduce my friends to this spot! Our party was not the easiest as we have a few dietary restrictions, like one GF person and one vegetarian. We wanted a few of the starters and noticed that getting the antipasto might be the most cost-efficient way. My friend asked if we might have all the meat on one plate and the veggies on another to be considerate of the vegetarian (me) and they nicely accommodated that request. The GF friend was excited to order a Dubai chocolate martini as she thought she would be getting these flavors without the dough she can't have, but it came around the rim and sprinkled in the drink and she had to send it back, which they also quickly accommodated. They also had several mocktails on the menu, really nice options made with NA spirits. I ordered one of these. I usually get the gnocchi here but on this visit they had a pasta special with corn that was like a taste of just-ended summer and I went with that. It was delicious and my friends enjoyed their meals as well. There is a dessert bar next door but service on this night was taking an extremely long time so we didn't get into any desserts. Service on this particular visit was not quite what I've been used to on previous visits overall, and one of my friends mentioned it afterward to the GM who was very accountable and responsive. He had also stopped by to personally check on us during our meal, and it's nice to get a sense that a place genuinely cares about your customer experience. I will continue to come back.

Kudos to the chef for trying something different with these specialty vegan dishes! The restaurant is tucked away in Foster Plaza among office buildings and I would have never expected to find it there. They have good signage as you wind up the plaza so you know you're on the right track. The restaurant itself is very attractive, Clean, upscale look with white fairy lights. This is a white tablecloth place and would be appropriate for a special occasion as well as a nice any occasion meal. I ordered the full vegan restaurant week special which included a vegan meatball appetizer, pappardelle Bolognese made with red lentils and their freshly made pasta, and dessert which was two black bean brownies with frosting. The marinara on the meatballs was delicious and I would order the marinara here on anything. The meatballs were the size of tennis balls or larger. Great texture and I was only able to eat one if I wanted to eat the rest of my meal. The pasta dish was enormous and I could only eat half of that as well. I was really impressed with the texture and flavors of the lentil Bolognese. They also brought a cup of vegan vegetable soup which wasn't mentioned on the vegan week menu but was absolutely delicious. The brownies probably surprised me most. I couldn't believe these were made from black beans. I took home one of the two and with everything else I had packed up, had an entire repeat of the meal the next day. Very big portions especially if you get a Pasta. My mom ordered cheese ravioli with regular Bolognese sauce and the ravioli was delicious, although not enough for a full second meal like the regular pastas. I also want to mention that they had a couple of mocktails on their menu and I appreciated them being inclusive. I ordered a mocktail mule with ginger beer and raspberry purée which exceeded my expectations. The raspberry purée was really good. You will pay $30-$35 or so for a nice meal here, more if you start getting into some of the meat entrees. I thought that was a fair price for the quality. I will definitely be back.
