Food looks good, but the prices are outrageous. Go to the grocery store and make your own.

Let me start off by saying i've been to this restaurant but it's been about 20 years since I…read morerevisited. My recollection was that it was good 20 years ago. We stopped before going to an event at the Roxian Theater. The place is big. they have a decent size bar. There's a darts game and some other games, outdoor covered patio, they also have a banquet room besides their main dining room. Our waitress was really sweet but service was slow. The menu is huge. Lots of options for all ages crowd, families and there were some vegetarian options as well. We ordered food to share. the calamari appetizer which tasted OK, but some of the pieces weren't cooked thoroughly so they were really rubbery. We also ordered the blackberry salmon which again was tasty, but the salmon was overcooked. And both of our side salads were drenched with dressing and must've sat in the back for at least 20 min. to the point the lettuce was soggy. I don't know if this was just an for the kitchen staff but food wise was not the best especially for a $45 bill!

The menu selection was fine and creative and the atmosphere was superior. Our waiter's knowledge of the menu and impeccable suggestions were definitely a plus. Date night, family affair, birthday, business, vacation stop or whatever occasion betwixt and between, this is a must see and must go to spot. Additionally treated to the pre-4th of July fireworks from a fantastic vantage point. Thank you Altius.

Our cocktails were subdued but very tasty. First we were served a pea soup shooter--we all wanted a whole bowl. Then a couple of appetizers--the 'compressed pineapple' with frisse was interesting with a flavorful dressing, but not too sweet. I got the special, seared tuna with a shrimp over udon noodles and a Hoisin sauce with some sort of wasabi. Again, the flavors were unique but not overpowering. Also got the chicken with couscous and peas. Sounds plain but it was anything but plain. The other mains were just as good. We finished off with three desserts. The carrot cake got rave reviews from my dining partners (not my style). The Creme Brulle was very large and perfectly cooked. But the best dessert was the deconstructed Smore. The chocolate, the merengue, the graham crumbs, a little ice cream. Oh, I'm going to be dreaming of this dessert for a long time! The price is also quite high for pittsburgh standards--over 100/person--but well worth it for a special occasion!

An old neighbor who also lived in a home built in the 1800's, once told me 40yrs ago it is believed Abraham Lincoln stayed there once. To say they just serve bar food would be a lie. Their pizza is excellent as are sandwiches and such. The bar is well stocked too. Friday night is Karaoke night and on Saturdays there are usually local bands. Where're arrived, the place was packed. That evening, with a band, and full house, they only had 2 bartender/ waitresses, and 1 cook in the kitchen. We ordered a pizza and cheese steak as soon as we got there and didn't receive it for 1 1/2 hours. The food was very good and pizza fresh. Being a past owner of a bar, I would think the owner would have more help in the kitchen and on the floor. We were told that the owner was sitting, listening to the music, and not offering to help the staff. We really enjoyed the live music, the food, and the drinks. But we felt sorry for the staff having to put up with the large crowd. Therefore, I must give the owners a 1 star for his lack of management skills. Kudos to the 3 staff members, one being the owner's wife , the solitary cook in the kitchen.
