We both received plenty of fries which was nice. The place was loud but we were still able to hear each other at the table with no difficulty. Disappointed. I really like the atmosphere here and the food has always been pretty good, and I'm really wanting to make this a more regular place, however this visit takes it down a notch. On a personal note, this is my 500th review on Yelp... A Google search and confirmatory phone call revealed they have the NFL Sunday Ticket. The TVs are set up very nicely here and all games were available. They made sure to flip games in a timely manner. Space is at a premium here, large groups may not be the best... We had two different servers helping us through the entirety of our visit. Checked in regularly and made sure we had drinks at all times. Bloody Mary was tasty and loaded; seemed to get spicier as you went. Breakfast was good and they accommodated my request for onions with my hashbrowns. The cook didn't know how to make basted eggs, so I settled for overeasy. No complaints here. read more

When I'm in town, every couple months or so, I come for dinner and beers. This place has gone downhill in a big hurry, over the past year or so. The sweet and good bartender on weeknights is gone. The gal now isn't friendly and doesn't appear to care one bit about being there. Tonight, busy talking to her boyfriend and doing shots with him and another coworker while "working." First time I've ever been served FRESH handmade jalapeño poppers! Yes, handmade! I was a bit dumbfounded that they weren't the typical "boxed" poppers, and they were good. We decided to come here when our plans for Texas roadhouse got soiled because they had a line out the door. It is your typical sports bar. There were decent amount of different seat options. It wasn't super bright in there but also wasn't super dark either. In general it seemed clean and they had really cool decorations hung up. The service was really good. Our waitress was very attentive even when the bar was decently packed as there was a very large group in there when we were there. I got cheese curds for an appetizer and I really liked them! They aren't like the typical frozen bar cheese curds that you usually get. They were very stringy and crunchy. I do wish their ranch portions were a little bit larger though as it's just a tiny plastic cup that's only halfway full so it didn't last me for the whole appetizer. I also got the knock-you-out chicken sandwich. It was very good. I do wish that the chicken was more of a flaky batter instead of the light batter that it had. The chicken was also a little tough but in general the sandwich tasted really good. I also got it with fries which was just the usual crinkle cut fries. In general I really liked the restaurant I just think that some of the food could be improved in quality but it all tasted really good so I would definitely get it again. read more

I had low expectations based on some reviews and personal experience MANY years ago. I was pleasantly surprised...our food and overall experience was good. We met friends to watch football on a Saturday, and they were packed when we arrived a bit after 11. The servers were doing a good job keeping up with food and drink orders, and it was very lively! I got mixed drinks, and they were plenty strong, so no complaints there. Everyone else was drinking beer. We all got food. I got the Turkey Melt, and it was tasty and fresh tasting. My wife got the Chicken Wrap - also good, and fresh tasting. They do charge a 4% credit card fee, and since we were there all afternoon, we paid that vs. carrying a pocketfull of cash. Not sure it'd be a regular stop for me for dining, but it was a solid option for watching games and grabbing lunch. read more

The name and location attracted us here. It is basically a sports bar with a number of TVs around the room. We had about 8 people in our party, and we were going to push a few tables together. Sadly we were told we couldn't do that which was a little offputting. We were put on a long hightop that was really cramped for our dining party and certainly dampened our fun to a fair degree. I was looking forward to the opportunity to try some local beers considering the name of the establishment, but there really was not a lot to choose from, so I was a little disappointed. I have to say the same thing about the food. It was OK. It was a basic bar food menu ala foodservice distribution. I had the Elvis burger (peanut butter, bacon, and cheese), and it didn't really do much for me, and the tots were a bit on the overdone side. Definitely the last time we dine here. We've had dinner here numerous times but our last experience soured us forever. There was a large party of 20-25 people in the middle of the restaurant who were so loud and obnoxious that it made conversation between me and my husband impossible. We complained to the waitress who did nothing. We then asked for the name and phone number of the manager and were told to leave our name and number and the manager would call us. Chicken fingers were crunchy and tasteful, side salad was fresh and chilled, vegetables crunchy. The Honey Mustard dressing is thick for a salad, but perfect for dipping sauce. My waitress was quick and busy, and unfortunately she never checked on me eating, but again she was busy and can slightly forgive for not checking on me. Drinks are mixed well and taste just right, not weak but also not kick your butt strong. The Chocolate Lava Cake was very good. I would recommend this place to everyone. 1908 Draught House was a decent place to catch some sports games and chow down on bar food in Johnston, even al fresco! A group of ten of us grabbed a spot on their covered patio which had a handful of TVs showing football. We cozied up around one of the corner booths and another table nearby. To drink, I started with a mimosa that was made with what tasted like freshly squeezed OJ. Super pulpy and I liked it. To eat, I couldn't resist trying the Cowboy Bites: Midwest sweet corn, cheese, jalapeño and bacon, all fried to perfection and served with ranch. Others at my table ordered the cheese curds which I couldn't resist. These were both perfect snacks! From there, I got chicken strips (also on the apps menu) served with a side of buffalo sauce. I wasn't super hungry and this came with about eight strips, so I got to take some home! The menu offers everything from salads and sandwiches, to burgers and pizzas. It's quite extensive and I'm certain there's something for everyone. Our waitress was attentive and checked on us throughout for drink refills and what not. Quiet little bar with a country sports theme. Stopped for a quick lunch after work. Service was excellent. Our server recommended the daily special meatloaf with mashed potatoes and onion rings. The only time I've been to 1908 Draught House was for my going away party for work and for my former co-worker's going away party. So if I ever get an invitation to this place, I'm going to wonder who got a new job! The inside is your typical sports bar, kind of dark and divey looking. Me describing this place as "divey" isn't a bad thing, it just doesn't have an upscale contemporary ambiance to it. Both times being here I've sat outside in their semi enclosed patio. I would say that sitting outside during a nice day is the way to go. I've never eaten any food here, so I'm basing this on drinks and the service. I got my order taken right away by the waitress and the beer was brought out to me in a timely manner. When I got my bill I noticed that my first Blue Moon was $4.50 and then my 2nd one was $4.00. Maybe it was the smile I flashed at the waitress that got me a .50 discount? :) Overall, this is a nice place to gather with friends/co-workers and enjoy the weather on the patio. My only complaint thus far is that if you have a large group, it may be hard to find seating together on the patio and the patio isn't very large, so plan accordingly. read more

I guess this place is horrible, but why anyone would choose to go here, unless out of ignorance (our case) is beyond me. We walked from our nearby hotel, saw an open booth, so sat down. Server came pretty promptly - and she was busy (they should have had one more wait person) and I ordered an Old Fashioned. She told me they couldn't make that because they didn't have any bitters. WHAT? So I asked, "Oh, is this not a full bar; are you beer/wine only or something?" And she said "no, full bar". I did not say, but wanted to, that the Old Fashioned is currently the most popular cocktail in America, and I enjoy one so much that I truly would not go to a place if I knew they couldn't make one. So I thought about it and decided to try something new: "well, may I have a Manhattan?" She left and came back two minutes later saying "we can't make that; we don't have any vermouth". WHAT?? This is a BAR, right (I thought). I ordered the only other thing I could think of which was a Gin & Tonic. It was "meh" - but in their defense, how good can a gin & t be? A waitress came to clean the table and about 15min later of waiting, no one had waited on us. I would've understood if they were busy, but at least 3 waitresses had passed our table and waited on other tables, skipping ours.
