Ok I'm not sure where to start... This restaurant is located in Cross City, FL...I know, where the heck is Cross City. I don't live there but I have family generations deep in this town. I made a trip up to visit family and was starving after driving about 3 1/2 hours. I used Yelp to see what might be in town while in the back of my kind I already knew. So this place called 1927 steak house popped up. I had NO idea where this might be so I clicked on directions and the next thing I know I'm about 2 miles from my families house and one of the best meals and experiences I've had in a long time. I mean, are you kidding me...this hidden gem is in Cross City??? Turns out this old old building was purchased by a couple and named The Lodge. The building has existed for years but what they did to the interior and grounds was just amazing. As I sat at the bar making Yum Yum noises and making friends the owner (wife) introduced herself and well, we talked for awhile. I can't say enough about this hidden gem in this little town. Please do yourself a favor if you're in the neighborhood, on a trip or maybe fishing or scalloping in the this quaint part of the world you need to get you a room at The Lodge and have dinner at 1927. Rustic but elegant (except for the dog that someone had at the bar) courteous staff, appetizers were very good -tried the escargot, conch fritters and ahi tuna (excellent). Meals were all very good -from steak to seafood no complaints. A little pricey but would recommend for a large group, as there's not much else to choose from in this area. read more

Give it an 5 star rating for food, ambiance and service. A beautiful, quiet, rural lodge and restaurant in Cross City, Fl. Had steak there and it was wonderful a few months ago. Wednesday we were going by there and had lunch. We had a prime rib sandwich that was great too. We asked for dipping sauce and they accommodated us cheerfully. A very relaxing lunch with tablecloths, fresh cut roses and relaxing Southern atmosphere. We'll be back again. read more

Food was not what was shown in pictures. Ribeye Steak was less than a 1/2 in thick and tasted like a bad Prime Rib!! Terrible. Waitress was nice but not knowledgeable. Very disappointed!! Driven past the lodge many times and decided to stop in for lunch. I was wonderful. Bev was loaded with information about the history of the lodge. They have an RV park adjacent to the lodge, next time we'll stay the night and try the steak and take in the music! read more

Some observations: The architecture was interesting on the surface but the atmosphere was only okay. Pre-dinner drinks were unrecognizable, so perhaps the bartender could use some training and experience in making drinks that are common in other locales, or decide not to offer them and just stick to what you know. The bread was ... different, and was accompanied by an unbalanced oil and extremely sweet balsamic. My impression that the menu seemed pretentious and ambitious at first glance turned out to be confirmed after sampling a couple of entrees. I had the scampi, which was basically shrimp and overcooked pea-sized scallops prepared not in butter, garlic, olive oil, and white wine as expected, but in what seemed to be just a lot of vegetable oil. The bow-tie pasta was on the side and unadorned by any seasoning whatsoever. Salad was fine. My companion had blackened salmon, and while admittedly a nice piece of fish, it wasn't blackened. While I appreciate the difficulties of the location and the attempts to be different and upscale, everything just fell short, rendering the value far less than the $120 price tag for two diners would indicate. I would suggest a smaller number of menu items consisting only of dishes that have been actually mastered. Menu quality over quantity. Flavor over uniqueness. Value over flash. read more

What a gem! My husband and I were in town for a short stay from Texas and happened upon this wonderful place after a Yelp search. We are so glad we tried it out! We started with the Calamari: although not hand battered, the sweet chili sauce more than made up for it! I'd order it again anytime! We each ordered the Caesar salad which has a wonder flavor and tasted house-made. It was a bit heavily dressed, but I enjoyed it a lot. We both got steaks for our entrees. I tried the 6oz filet and he tried the 14oz ribeye. Excellent char on both. Mine was cooked a perfect medium rare, and the seasoning was spot on. His was slightly overdone, but he said it was still tender and tasty and he enjoyed it immensely. (We forgot to take pictures). The steaks were served with a small taste of their corn casserole which was sweet and tasty. I also ordered a baked potato which was very nice. We got a sampling of the sweet biscuits served with homemade honey butter and had to order more as they melted in our mouths! Finally, we completed our experience with Bev's warm bread pudding w/rum sauce. I almost have no words. It was one of the best we've ever had. Even more, our server was very sweet and attentive and loved the way she treated us! We for sure will be back next time we come through. read more

An excellent meal in the historic Putnam Lodge. We tried the filet mignon and asparagus; along with wahoo and broccoli. Both, excellent. Service was fantastic. There is a lounge singer... Look for Putnam Lodge. I never saw any sign for 1927 steakhouse. read more

Awful experience. Food took over an hour to be delivered. Wrong salad was brought to the table and "grouper" could hardly be cut with a knife. Ed the owner was obnoxious. I totally understand why the Putnam Lodge has less than 25% occupancy. read more

We had dinner at the 1927 Steakhouse, located inside the Historic Putnam Lodge... Wow! This place is absolutely beautiful "Old Florida". The food and the service were excellent! My wife had the salmon,which was prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. I had the filet migmon, cooked as ordered, and melt in your mouth tender. And desert? Wow! My wife had the Banana Toffee Bourbon cake, which is unbelievable. That will be our go to desert in the future. We live 22 miles away, but will be going back frequently... Love it!
