Great ambience , great music, great service..... poor overcooked and overpriced food. The hush puppies were hard as a rock, the fish dry and the crab legs overcooked to the point that were saggy and hard to break.

A drink menu that will make your head swim. The 50-50 margarita was very tasty.

Wow! We were in Steinhatchee for one night and we wanted to go somewhere where we could bring our corgi. They were so accommodating! We went right to the front entrance and she immediately asked if we wanted a bowl of water for Our dog! Then she let us back to what is mostly inside seating. They had live music that was excellent, and the food was very good as well. We had a new waitress who was phenomenal and had one of the veteran waitresses watching her the whole time to make sure we had the best experience possible. My husband was dying for Apalachicola Bay oysters, and he was not disappointed with the dozen that he received. We also had a pound of pill and eat shrimp. That was very tasty. We also recommend the smoked mullet fish dip. It was a very generous portion that we ended up taking half of it home. Food was great and the ambience was great as well. We will definitely go to Kathy's crab shack again when we are back in Steinhatchee.

This is an old Florida style restaurant. It is a busy outdoor restaurant. Service is good and helpful. Full bar . Live music on weekends. My wife ordered the crab claws. They were good. I ordered the whole fried flounder that was delicious. I had a side salad and okra for sides. We shared the flounder. Our friends had the ribeye steak that was huge. The owner passed out steak samples earlier. They were delicious. He does the steaks on a green egg out back. This is the best food in Steinhatchee we had. We highly recommend.

Blackened wahoo, crab pasta salad and fried okra.

Amazing food and service. I had the fried flounder. Who needs sides with all that meat? Hubby had blacked fish of the day (wahoo). Delicious!

The food, shrimp basket and Oyster basket with macaroni and cheese, cheese grits and friee. The shrimp were fat and juicy wirh a nice light breading. The spice mix reminded me of KFC. the fries, Crinke cut and crispy were a table favorite. The oysters were bland. My companion said they had little flavor ocer the breading. The cheese grits were tasty, but the biggest disappointment was the Mac & cheese. It was oily and tasted like institutional (school, hospital) food. The woman taking orders made me feel like I was an inconvenience just for being there. Her attitude was noticeable enough that another customer after me actually asked if he had done something to upset her. Her response was simply that it was a long day -- which, while understandable, doesn't make for a good customer experience. On top of the attitude, there was a serious lack of communication about what was unavailable. They were out of several items, including bottled water. Most frustratingly, I ordered the peel-and-eat shrimp and wasn't told until after I received my food that they were out of cocktail sauce. Without it, the shrimp were inedible to me -- I ended up throwing them away. That information should have been shared at the time of ordering. This was one of the only dining options available on a Monday night, so we made it work. But the poor service, lack of communication, and wasted food made the overall experience fall short. I'll be looking for other options next time.

A Server came over and asked us right away if we would like to see menus and what we would like to drink. Our Server was very knowledgeable about all the different foods on the menu. The fries were outstanding. Our Server was very attentive making sure everything was our satisfaction. She also informed us of upcoming event events, and we're sure to return. I don't know about all of that, having lived on the water in the Keys and St. Augustine, was pretty windy for bugs ...but whatever. The rest of our experience was unremarkable in a good way; I guess. Fish dips, okay. Low country boil was okay. Chicken sammy comes with melty cheese which isn't on the menu and the one of us who actually ordered it is terribly lactose intolerant; so, at least she liked the fries. Overall, okay. A one and done kind of thing as there wasn't anything memorable about this place to bring us back.

Cindy our server greeted us immediately after being seated, we were seated in the back of the restaurant which allowed me to look at what the locals were eating, yeah almost every table had oysters either raw on the shell or chargrilled which were all sized large. There are lots of options here no matter your preference We both got crispy fried catfish and I added fried shrimp I opted for a side I've never seen on any menu anywhere "Swamp Cabbage" (sautéed heart of palm with bacon) I covered it with a healthy dose of Trappy's Pepper Vinegar, it's definitely an acquired taste I'm sure but delicious, we also ordered fries which came with a generous portion of thumb size hushpuppies served with guava jam. We also ordered an order of Lacy's Rockin Oysters for an appetizer, they arrived about half way through our dinner service but well worth the wait for sure, a few dozens of these would make a wonder meal by itself - everything was delicious and the prices are a very good value - a shout out again to our server Cindy she was exceptional. If you're in the area and want some fresh seafood and the freshest oysters this is definitely the place to come. The area is still recovering from the last hurricane which devastated the area but it seems all is well here...

There's still lots of cleanup and re-building to do. It's a little sad to see Steinhatchee suffer so much. But glad to see folks trying to make a go of life again.
