Samantha had been accepted at DSA and her middle school career was about to begin! She has been at the school as a theater major for almost 8 months now and I must say, I am most impressed. Actually impressed doesn't quite cover it. I am completely and utterly floored, flabbergasted and blown away.... The talent here is ridiculous and like Colin mentioned in his review, DSA offers some of the most wonderful plays, musicals, concerts and dance productions in the entire Metro area. Last night's performance was a Broadway review which the kids will actually perform downtown tonight for a big fund-raising gala for The Kempe Foundation. There are simple not enough ways to describe just how talented these kids are and how spectacular the show was. As the first act began and the young lady opened her mouth, my God the sound that came out was quite literally unreal. To be so young and so gifted it was enough to bring a person to tears. Things got better from there, which is hard to believe considering it started out at FANTASTIC! There were dancers and singers and actors which easily rival anything on Broadway. Numbers from Annie, and Hair, Joesph and the Technicolor Dream coat, Hair spay, and several others, for 10 bucks. It was a night for the record books, and as a mama so full of pride and awe I must say... my baby kicked some series Broadway booty last night. Way to go kiddo! So if you are looking for some raw and insane talent for a very reasonable price and feel like contributing to a great, local and PUBLIC school in Denver, get yourself on their newsletter list and ENJOY!!! Dear God, please give these people a piece of land so that they don't have to park on the grass and in intersections. If you build it, they will come.

It is fun to see big productions like Cats or Phantom of the Opera on Broadway or in larger venues, but it is more engaging to sit 15-20 feet from the stage and feel as if you are part of the action. We tried the Curious Theatre for the first time this fall, and loved their production of "The Minutes" (always enjoy Tracy Letts). We returned for the wonderful production of "Letters to Suresh" as well a month later. The theater uses an old church so every seat is great, street parking is easy, and there are fun food options within a block - we enjoyed Zeps Epic Sandwiches and Torchys Tacos, coffee at Cherry Bean Coffee, and will try Eiskaffee on our next visit. It was so engaging and I recommend that everyone watch this play at least once-it will not disappoint! It runs from 14 Oct to 11 Nov 2017. I was pleasantly surprised by how clever, risqué, and funny this show was. We attended the Alice in Wonderland show and it was the perfect mix of sexiness and comedy. We got the VIP seats right up next to the stage, but from looking around, it appears there are very few "bad" seats in the house, maybe a seat or two behind some columns. My friends and I laughed and clapped and cheered. The performances were top notch. The drinks weren't gourmet cocktails, but that's not expected. I got a pretty good sized mule and dark n stormy and my friend's husband enjoyed his many martinis. The performers were kind enough take photos with us at the end of the evening. So down to earth. I also had a great experience with their staff. Early in the year I purchased two tickets in hopes of getting a good table. Then months later, they introduced the VIP tickets right next to the stage. I purchased three of those (I had added two friends by then) and the company was kind enough to refund my two regular tickets. They were very prompt and professional in emails. Regular tickets were 50-ish, VIP tickets were 70-ish. Worth every penny. No photos or videos during the production, but they allow for some photos and video at the end. Also close to many restaurants and bars, essentially in a pedestrian district. We walked to a close by mediterranean place (reviewed separately) that was fantastic.

Love the body positivity and the diversity amongst all their dancers (male dancers were included!). They provide fun little noisemakers to use during the dances to cheer them on.
