There are forced carries over water, but the closer tee boxes take some of them out of play. There were a few blind shots - but, maybe I didn't hit the first shot far enough! There's water, wind & elevation changes! I had a field day! Please don't ruin my course. Drop sand in your divots and repair the ball marks! I hope this place is gorgeous for a long time! Compile that with the best driving range in Sumter, the friendly staff and the (almost ridicuously) low price for a round and/or low membership costs, I give it high overall marks. Non-military affiliated golfers can get a day pass from the gate or do a background check to get a limited access ID if they want to be a member. Additionally, the course is usually in very good shape and it is absolutely gorgeous in the spring. The course is well laid out with a diverse mix of dog-legs, varying lengths, elevation changes, and water hazards. It will give you a good challenge, especially played from the tips (610 yard par 5!). True, the greens aren't lethal fast and the carts don't have GPS in them, but think these are minor things in the grand scheme of golfing. I highly recommend it.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The club house grounds were nice. It's winter so the holes I could see from the club house looked dormant, but very nice. On the drive in there is a driving range and short game/chipping area on the right. There a very nice putting only green directly behind the club house. Today I played with a friend and was a little disappointed, but still enjoyed the round. Even the other golfers we talked with on the course were very friendly. The fairways were nice, very wide, open, rolling and hilly. The greens were nice and somewhat fast. Stay below the hole on your putts if possible. The sand traps I found had lots of sand. There are no houses on the course. The holes are outlined with hardwood trees. I am looking forward to playing again soon, and looking forward to how beautiful it will be when all the trees are full of leaves. The negatives are; as with many semi-private golf courses the cart paths suffer. These were cracking and very rough in many places. Some parts of the paths have pavers. In some places the pavers are missing. I feel courses like these should just pull up the concrete and try to maintain the dirt path that would be left. Or just add gravel or pea gravel. There also some very rough areas away from the cart path areas too. There are creeks and canals running adjacent and across some of the holes that are completely dry. No water at all. Makes it easy to find you ball if it finds one, buts takes away some of the beauty if they had water in them. It maybe a seasonal reason for them being dry, IDK. This course is a huge bargain for the $33 paid as a senior. I look forward to playing here many more times in 2026.

From the person who took my bag out of the car, Linda, who seem to be the boss of things in the proshop(thank you Ms Linda!!) to Michael and his profession and especially the young Black lady between the ninth green and tenth tee box... What an excellent heart and mind towards customer service, I didn't get her name but she had a "necklace tat"...IT WAS A TREAT TO FEEL HER WARMTH after taking a bogey on the ninth hole. The course is very far, even with out of bounds stakes on every hole, the greens were very consistent and the course layaway is a challenge. I salute you for allowing me the opportunity to experience such a beautiful hidden gem of a place!!!! All golfers in the area should give this place a try...it is well worth the price of its green fees. The course is great, greens are in great condition but a bit slow compared to what I'm used to. Over all a great experience with a great staff to assist with the 'bag drop' check in at the Pro Shop & The Turn snack bar. Today, I had the Turkey, Bacon and Ranch panini at The Turn. The Brickwood Restaurant & Bar is closed Mon & Tues. A top tier facility from Bag Drop to Cart Return. It's almost an hour south of Charlotte so there's that but if you're willing to make the drive, you'll be rewarded.
