Lately though we have been increasingly disappointed. In an apparent search for effeciency, customer service is slipping. Case in point, their new automated service notification system that supposedly provides you information on when to expect a technician to arrive. We have a service contract and a tech was supposed to come out to inspect the system to make sure all was working well. First, sometime today is not helpful. We have busy lives and other companies at least give you a reasonable window. Second, when we were finally provided an arrival time (between 12:30 and 1:30) and confirmed it, we waited for over 2 hours after that and never got an update or saw a technician. Texts to the automated system generated a form response that the tech was delayed...obvious and not helpful...maybe provide a revised ETA? Third, we finally called the office and canceled the appointment (it was about 4) and said we'd call back to reschedule. No apologies for the inconvenience...nothing. I am hesitant to reschedule and risk a replay of a wasted day due to questionable customer service. Last winter we had techs come out under the service contract to do the annual check up of the heating system. When we asked the technicians to show us the proper way to drain the boiler, they didn't know. Go back to a people run and focused approach. That was why we stuck with Davis so long in the first place.

He also said one of the compressors sounded like it might be going. We decided I needed a new system. The quote he gave me for a 4 ton heat pump was over $21,000!!! I called a second company and told them of the issues. The second technician wanted to diagnose my current system before quoting a price on a new one. He got the system running with NO NEW PARTS. The cost of the visit was $109.00. I would never recommend Davis to anyone.

They responded quickly to my call, and they came out promptly. The tech evaluated my dryer and pinpointed the trouble, a burned out heating element. He ordered the part over the weekend and it arrived on Monday and he was at my door before 9AM on Tuesday. He repaired the dryer by inserting the part, gave me a detailed receipt and the dryer works fine. The techs who appeared were courteous and efficient. If only they had cleaned out my dryer vent hose, but apparently they don't do that sort of work. But at least he cautioned me to have it done to eliminate stress on the dryer. This was certainly a huge improvement on what "Ashley" experienced.

He said I lived to far for him to bother with my appliances (I live 26 minutes from his office to my front door, yes I mapped it), so I reminded him that he worked with my warranty company and he said he didnt care. Then I reminded him that he had been telling me he would come out for three weeks then he said he didnt care about me because what can I do to him.

He seemed genuinely nice, and even invited me to the Nazarene Church he attended in Lynchburg. But after the first day where he worked for only an 1.5 hrs and left because his "lady" was unwell, as he called her. His 2nd day of work was even worse. He was supposed to be finishing up a tile job, helping me put in window casements, and base boards. Matt was obviously in over his head. At the end of the few hours he worked that day, again he suddenly had to leave, we noticed his work was not ok. He used screws to adhere the wood to the old brick, ( Historical home) and the screws he used had heads that sat on the casements. I wish I could post pictures. It was the work a 12 year old would do if he was trying to build a tree fort. Yes, I am upset, but mostly because instead of telling me he didn't know how to do the work with plaster and brick instead of drywall and studs, he called to say he was sick with Covid. Then trying to be understanding, I asked him when he would come back and he texted he was visiting his brother and wasn't sure. Needless to say, after trying to be understanding and kind, he still never showed up. Always gave an excuse. Months passed and he never came back. What little he did had to be redone, and he took a few thousand dollars and never returned. HUGE mistake to trust him.
