I called numerous appliance repair companies within an hour from us and was unable to connect with anyone available to assist. I then called Carter's Heating & Cooling, who put in our HVAC when we built 10 years ago here at the lake. It turns out they also ran the propane line to the house. Greg Carter was very responsive, and Jamie came out first thing the next morning. After doing an initial check of things, he disassembled the cooktop and found the leak at the regulator. Interestingly, we had a local appliance repair out here in 2019 when we smelled propane at the cooktop. While I don't know if they ever corrected the issue or not, Carters did! I have always been impressed with Carter's and highly recommend them if you want things done right.

In every case they have responded promptly (that, in and of itself is unique) and their work is excellent. Most recently the water heater they installed started leaking after about 5 years. It was leaking internally and through no fault of the installation. I contacted Cardinal to ask about the warranty and was told it was still in effect. According to the manufacturer the warranty only covered the cost of replacing a faulty heater. After the new one was installed Keith told me that there was no labor cost as well and that a new water heater should not have had any problems this early on. That was completely unexpected. They are truly a rarity in today's world.

But after the first day where he worked for only an 1.5 hrs and left because his "lady" was unwell, as he called her. His 2nd day of work was even worse. He was supposed to be finishing up a tile job, helping me put in window casements, and base boards. Matt was obviously in over his head. At the end of the few hours he worked that day, again he suddenly had to leave, we noticed his work was not ok. He used screws to adhere the wood to the old brick, ( Historical home) and the screws he used had heads that sat on the casements. I wish I could post pictures. It was the work a 12 year old would do if he was trying to build a tree fort. Yes, I am upset, but mostly because instead of telling me he didn't know how to do the work with plaster and brick instead of drywall and studs, he called to say he was sick with Covid. Then trying to be understanding, I asked him when he would come back and he texted he was visiting his brother and wasn't sure. Needless to say, after trying to be understanding and kind, he still never showed up. Always gave an excuse. Months passed and he never came back. What little he did had to be redone, and he took a few thousand dollars and never returned. HUGE mistake to trust him.
