This was my favorite brewery while hopping over a 3 day weekend (we visited 8). We were warmly greeted by 2 giant St Bernard's. The staff was just as friendly. The atmosphere felt warm like the stereotypical small town. The Brewer was visiting with the guests as well. We had delicious IPA's. We saw friends visiting and people playing games. It was a great place. Enjoy. Cheers

We weren't overly impressed with any of the beers but they were enjoyable enough & the atmosphere was great. Our server was friendly and so were the other patrons. Seems this place has built up a nice following. They have various places to sit, from the bar & high top tables to a lounge area. Lots of games to use. Very dog friendly. They had a popcorn maker & I was told they have pizza on certain days of the week. Even though the beer wasn't super impressive, it wasn't bad, and we would definitely return

Love visiting Amanda on Fridays! She always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming! Love the live music, different food trucks that visit and of course the beer! Fun spot!

Come for the Porter stay for the doggy kisses! Fantastic beers and a dog friendly tap room. Something for everyone but their 104 Porter is a can't miss! With two outdoor seating areas and a nice air conditioned tap room it's awesome. Fantastic tap list that has something for everyone even cider and wine drinkers.

Don't let the pandemic keep you from snagging some great cans! We make it a point to drink good beer, and we brew as well, but when the sun FINALLY comes out in VT (pandemic or not) you get in the car and make a beer run. Today's sunshine took us back to 1st Republic to reload on their Diverse Parts kolsch, an easy drinking, well balanced bright one as well as their Everything But The Thorns blackberry wheat ale, much better than the wheat ale with blackberries made by the company named after the hiking path who shall not be named. If you're a brewer, 1st Republic also stocks everything you need to brew just about anything, which is handy for me as a brewer and you as someone who may be interested in trying it. Even if your not, knowing you're drinking in a functioning, fully stocked brewery pretty much ensures quality. Which explains why the beers are always on point. While we may not be here every day, but when we are, we are not disappointed.

Easily one of the best breweries in the area! Simply AMAZING service, great variety of brews, comfortable space and they have a ton of games to play while you relax and socialize. They make you feel so welcome and are so friendly, it truly makes me want to go back, which is rare these days. I highly recommend you try them! They are also a veteran owned brewery, so support the ones that have made our freedoms possible.

Cute brewery that also sells brewing equipment. We went in to grab a few things lost in the move and they had everything we needed and they sell beer kits too that we will be back for. Prices were average for equipment. The bar portion is in the same room and was super empty when we were there (we were there really early though). Beer was good and our bartender/co-owner was friendly and knowledgeable. As a non-hoppy, unknowledgeable beer enthusiast , they had a good range of mild beers available on tap. None of those triple hopped, I can't pronounce this beers. They also have a self-serve popcorn machine (every bar needs one!). Seating seemed limited, but worked for the Tony morning crowd and would like to check it out when it Is busier!

    Beer flight

We went there when it first opened for the day. The owner was there and I got a flight of beer. He took the time to explain a lot of the beers that they sold and also let me try some additional ones over the flight. Highly recommend. Very friendly and accommodating. Good selection of beer. Would have been great if they offered more snack related foods like soft pretzels. They did have popcorn and some bags of chips, but large soft pretzel with beer cheese would have been awesome!

Quaint small brewery. Very pleasant bar tender. We were traveling with a large group and had a nice big table to play games at.

Truly a gem in Essex! Being a beer snob (from Bend Oregon...) I can say that the Denial IPA was delicious. We will definitely be back

When it isn't crazy busy or there's an event this place is super cozy, dog friendly and very laid back. When they throw events though it gets nuts, nowhere to sit, loud, but you get that anywhere you go I guess.

It was a long line when we got there. Ordered drinks and food at the same time. After about 45 minutes still without our burger and salad. My wife asked for an update. They said there were some "kinks" in the kitchen and it was going to be about another half hour. A server came by to see if we wanted to order any drinks while we waited and was going to charge us until my wife questioned that. After checking with her manager, our server was able to get us complimentary non-alcoholic drinks. The "kinks in the kitchen" were really understaffing due to a lack of preparation for a busy weekend. About 45 minutes later, we got our food and asked for boxes to bring it home. I had ordered a Kale and beet salad with fried chicken for $19. This couldn't have been much more than 2 cups of salad. Once I opened it at home at around 9:00 p.m. and saw the three pieces of fried chicken remnants, I couldn't believe that this is what I waited 2 hours to eat. At no point was there any attempt at service recovery; No manager came by to update. It was an incredibly poor performance for this Winooski staple. It felt like they were treating everyone different as a one-time tourist customer, forgetting that there were possibly people there that are repeat customers. I felt bad for our server because she should not have been bearing the brunt of this on her own. She had no support from any manager. I'll stick to the beer, but won't bother with attempting food again.

As we were leaving, my friend told me that the bartender had called him a "Nazi" and a "racist" because of the shirt he was wearing. It was simply a black shirt that said "Happy 250 Years" with an American flag behind the text. I turned around to ask why she felt that way. Before I could even finish speaking, she immediately became confrontational. I asked how his shirt made him a racist or a Nazi, especially considering he's friends with me, a Hispanic male. Instead of having a conversation, she told me to leave, took the beer that I had already paid for, and refused to let me finish it. She then called over a bouncer and, from my perspective, falsely told him that I had said, "You don't have any colored friends." I never made that statement and immediately told the bouncer it wasn't true. The one positive part of the experience was the bouncer. He remained calm, listened to both sides, and professionally de-escalated the situation. I handed him my beer and left peacefully. It's unfortunate because the rest of our Fourth of July was great, and this was a disappointing way to end the night. I used to enjoy going to Three Needs, but after being treated this way and seeing my friend labeled with such serious accusations over a T-shirt, I won't be returning. I hope management takes the time to look into what happened that night, because no customer should be treated this way for simply asking a question or wearing a shirt celebrating the Fourth of July. After we left and were standing outside, several other customers came over to us and apologized for what had happened. They also told us that, in their experience, this bartender has a reputation for treating customers this way. Whether that's accurate is for management to determine, but based on my own experience that night, I was extremely disappointed.
