This review is for the spirits and beer - we didn't order any food. The distiller makes some unique beverages. The Bierschnapps...think of Austrian schnapps with a beer taste. They also have garden spirits, which are essentially schnapps albeit potent schnapps (90 proof). Unfortunately, you couldn't order the garden spirits at the bar, but you could buy a bottle. My brother had the Marzen - yep, tasted like Oktoberfest. Bartenders were attentive and did a great job explaining the different spirits. Cool place!

I've been coming here since they opened and consistently have a stellar experience. We sat at the bar and both had salmon. The sauce, the presentation, the service: everything was awesome. Not to mention, they have ample parking - which is an extra special treat in Vermont. I'm a lover of sour beer, so the fruit flavored red sour (can't remember the name) is a real treat.

Solid Beer and Good Food for a great price point. Stopped by here with my family for our first meal after arriving in the area for the week/ weekend. We went on a Wednesday night and the place was absolutely popping. Very glad we made an impromptu reservation before arriving. When we arrived (a little before our reservation) we were seated fairly quickly. Once we got to our table our drink orders and food were taken shortly afterwards. There is also a back yard/ outdoor area where there is extra seating and where they hold events. For drinks, we tried a few different things. I had an 8oz of the Imagine Zero and an 8oz of the 12 Hour Sour, my dad got a 16 oz of Rito's Lament, and my Brother had an 8oz beer and two tasters. For the price point, this beer felt like a steal. $ 4.50 for an 8oz beer sounds crazy, especially compared to beer prices in Boston and San Francisco (cities I am more familiar with). The quality of the beer is pretty standard - nothing awful but nothing to write home about. For food, we got a few things. To start we got an order of wings and fried pickle spears. For main meals I got a double patty smash burger, my mom got a single patty smash burger, my dad got the chicken Caesar salad, and my brother got the fish and chips. The apps were both really good - the wings were served whole ( drum and flat connected) and were cooked perfectly. The house buffalo sauce was nice and paired nicely with the ranch. The fried pickle spears were perfection - the beer batter was shatteringly crispy. This was definitely a highlight for me. My burger was also really really good - I felt it could've been smashed a smidge more but that's just me being nitpicky. The house fries that were served along with them were also done just right. All in all, my experience at Black Flannel was great. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a visit if you find yourself in the area. 4/5

    "Artisan chips"

Not impressed. Ate in the bier garten. Was told when I called that we could order off the regular menu, which was incorrect. Ordered as a starter "artisan chips," which were a $4 bag of potato chips. Did let serving staff know about this, one appeared annoyed, the other did not care. Overall a lack luster experience. Would pass in the future.

Cocktail menu is so unique!! Friendly bartenders and great atmosphere. Would recommend!

We stumbled upon the Black Flannel Brewing Restaurant after going to see a movie. Many people were sitting outside, so we decided to dine there. Hubby got a smash burger and wished he'd doubled up on the burger. He was quite pleased with it and super happy he'd chosen to add bacon as it was really great tasting. He also got a non-alcoholic drink which was yummy and only $5. I chose the confit duck legs with waffles and bacon maple syrup. So good. I'd have chosen the syrup on the side next time as it was drenched. But oh so good!!! Highly recommend. Had half for dinner and finished it the next day. Every bite was mmmmm. We bought two donuts to take home. Packaged beautifully, but they were not good. We got a passionfruit one that the taste was wonderful and it came with a real flower on it - so pretty. But eating it was not great. It was so heavy it wasn't worth it. The frosting was yummy, but I can't recommend this. The 4 stars is because of the donuts. Our server, Aubrie, was wonderful. So helpful and sincere and cool. She didn't hover but was there when we needed her.

When it isn't crazy busy or there's an event this place is super cozy, dog friendly and very laid back. It was a long line when we got there. Ordered drinks and food at the same time. After about 45 minutes still without our burger and salad. My wife asked for an update. They said there were some "kinks" in the kitchen and it was going to be about another half hour. A server came by to see if we wanted to order any drinks while we waited and was going to charge us until my wife questioned that. After checking with her manager, our server was able to get us complimentary non-alcoholic drinks. The "kinks in the kitchen" were really understaffing due to a lack of preparation for a busy weekend. About 45 minutes later, we got our food and asked for boxes to bring it home. I had ordered a Kale and beet salad with fried chicken for $19. This couldn't have been much more than 2 cups of salad. Once I opened it at home at around 9:00 p.m. and saw the three pieces of fried chicken remnants, I couldn't believe that this is what I waited 2 hours to eat. At no point was there any attempt at service recovery; No manager came by to update. It was an incredibly poor performance for this Winooski staple. It felt like they were treating everyone different as a one-time tourist customer, forgetting that there were possibly people there that are repeat customers. I felt bad for our server because she should not have been bearing the brunt of this on her own. She had no support from any manager. I'll stick to the beer, but won't bother with attempting food again.

This was mainly due to the great service and delicious meals ordered by each of us in our family of three. Our table was never left waiting and the food was served hot. Our meal choices were varied, including apps such as steak tartar and cheddar ale soup for one and the meatloaf plate and the turkey burger for the others. Everything was made with original flavor additions such as homemade sauces, fresh breads, and unique use of herbs and spices. Lastly, I was told to mention that the hand cut fries were exceptional. Since we visit Burlington often, we look forward to returning to the Farmhouse to try other dishes on their menu or just ordering the same meals since they were so good. We all agreed that this restaurant has definately moved to the top of the list for our next trip to Vt.

As we were leaving, my friend told me that the bartender had called him a "Nazi" and a "racist" because of the shirt he was wearing. It was simply a black shirt that said "Happy 250 Years" with an American flag behind the text. I turned around to ask why she felt that way. Before I could even finish speaking, she immediately became confrontational. I asked how his shirt made him a racist or a Nazi, especially considering he's friends with me, a Hispanic male. Instead of having a conversation, she told me to leave, took the beer that I had already paid for, and refused to let me finish it. She then called over a bouncer and, from my perspective, falsely told him that I had said, "You don't have any colored friends." I never made that statement and immediately told the bouncer it wasn't true. The one positive part of the experience was the bouncer. He remained calm, listened to both sides, and professionally de-escalated the situation. I handed him my beer and left peacefully. It's unfortunate because the rest of our Fourth of July was great, and this was a disappointing way to end the night. I used to enjoy going to Three Needs, but after being treated this way and seeing my friend labeled with such serious accusations over a T-shirt, I won't be returning. I hope management takes the time to look into what happened that night, because no customer should be treated this way for simply asking a question or wearing a shirt celebrating the Fourth of July. After we left and were standing outside, several other customers came over to us and apologized for what had happened. They also told us that, in their experience, this bartender has a reputation for treating customers this way. Whether that's accurate is for management to determine, but based on my own experience that night, I was extremely disappointed.
