Yes, First Way is very pro life, anti living together before marriage, anti birth control , anti sex before marriage, etc. BUT they are funded by the Catholic church so that's expected. When I called for an ultrasound the lady said I had to come in for a pregnancy test first. She didn't tell me that I would be doing a 30 minute counseling session before I could even take the test. The counseling is awkward. I felt very judged, my boyfriend and I have been together 3 years and just bought a house. I was told that it's not healthy to live together, and that I should sustain abstinence until marriage. Not happening lol. I wouldn't recommend going here if you are planning on having an abortion. They will try to convince you otherwise. Anywho. Everybody was very nice, I didn't like the girl who did my counseling though. When I came in for my ultrasound the tech did bring me inside before my boyfriend to talk about the importance of getting married. My boyfriend chose not to speak with a male counselor and they did try to convince him otherwise. It isn't required though ! The tech was very thorough , explained everything happening and pointed out all parts of the baby and placenta. And the pictures turned out amazing ! We got to see baby in 2d,3d and 4d. We got so many pictures to take home and got to pick out a hand knitted beanie before we left. They offer alot of free classes and free materials for baby and mama. read more

In downtown Phoenix, a little pink house, filled with kind and compassionate people who give all their services for free to pregnant women. The pregnancy test, limited ultrasound scan and AHCCCS representative to sign up on site, free diapers, formulas, baby and maternity clothes and furniture are all given once you are a client. Their medical director is a OB/Gyn who speaks Spanish and is very kind and has served thousands of women in downtown Phoenix. Its great, they really help families. The classes on Saturday are amazing but get there early because they fill up every week. read more

I am so appreciative of this place. My daughter is soon to be 7 months and I've never had to purchase a diaper. I started going to class when I was about 10 weeks pregnant and my fiancé went to the men's classes also. I saved all my Baby Bucks for diapers. Actually we only buy things for our daughter when we want to or when we know it's cheaper than diapers (like baby ibuprofen or her vitamin D). I asked Firstway for places similar to theirs for when she's a year old (because they don't give services once baby is a year) and they give me three business names. That's pretty cool. They also gave me references for OBGYNs and information on insurances and other pregnancy related health topics when I got the positive pregnancy test results. However I am giving 4 stars because when I went to get the pregnancy test done they wouldn't let my fiancée back with me to tell me it was positive. It honestly hurt both of our feelings that we couldn't find out together. To this day we are upset about it so I felt the need to mention it. That same day a very religious lady (the one who told me it was positive) started discrediting me on my belief. I told her I nor my fiancé believe in abortion and she said "well its not about believing in it.. then went on to talk to me about it being based on religious morals." Okay no big deal but the entire time I'm sitting there wishing he could be in the room with me. I am also leaving 4 stars because my fiancé and I talk about what we learn/discuss in class. He's always saying he doesn't like it very much because it seems like the man is always trying to force religion down their throats. I guess they don't get different topics like the women's classes do. I get it's a pregnancy center but why not be a little more courteous to the men that are there for their gfs/wives/fiancés & soon to be child(ren). Like I said I appreciate this place so much for all the work and effort they give but there is things that for sure need improvement. I will definitely be back for my next pregnancy. read more

I was referred by a friend who came here a year or two ago. I came because she said she was in and out within 20 minutes. I called the day before and asked if I needed an appointment or if walk ins were accepted, I also asked about ultra sounds (I mainly went for the free ultra sounds since I knew I was at least 2 months pregnant and I didn't have health insurance yet.) I was told they can do ultra sounds the same day. I showed up and waited almost an hour before I was called back. They said the girl was on lunch, understandable. Before even taking a test, I was asked 21 questions, including my religious beliefs which I skipped on my intake form because that's not something that is important or any of their business. Then I was asked a series of questions on my relationship with my boyfriend. I felt like I was being judged in a way because I've lived with my bf for 3 years and we weren't married ? And then I was handed a paper with an abortion hotline on it ! I nicely explained that I wasn't there for a counseling session. Took my test and it was positive (big surprise) and they tried to schedule my ultra sound a few weeks out, despite being told they could do it the same day. I just told them I would go to a different doctor. I was over the place by that time already. read more

This is a great place for a pregnant women and the father or similar to come to, especially when you don't have insurance or need help with some things.They are mostly pro-life I believe, which makes sense because it is run or supported by a Catholic Church.To me they don't try to scare you, they make you feel comfortable.They are informative and knowledgeable,helpful, and supportive.I had my first ultrasound here because of no insurance, and it was a good experience and I was really happy.I got to hear the heartbeat and even got photos both 2d and 3D!They let me pick a handmade beanie too!For the women you can get 3 sets of clothing each visit that you go for maternity clothing(up to 3 visits).They also give pamphlets.At your 8th month they'll give you a gift for the baby coming, which I have yet to go get so I don't what what it's like yet.You can go on Saturdays to this location to take classes, and you get baby bucks from doing that, which you can use to get items in their baby boutique(I did not do this though so I can't touch up on the classes nor the boutique).They were always friendly and professional and waiting times were never too long.They do have a talk with the baby's father as well if he is there(with a man though).The man will have a talk and ask questions which are very easy and common sense for most=] read more

This was a great place to seek help. I became unexpectedly pregnant and needed a place to help, since both our families are across the country. They were great in providing my husband with insight about being a great, Christian dad and husband, as well as gave me some tips on being pregnant and being a new mom. By attending the weekly classes, we received Baby Bucks, which we could use towards furniture, toys, diapers and/or clothes. This place is full of sh**. They scheduled me for an ultrasound and they did NOT want to do it because a different doctor had confirmed my pregnancy. My boyfriend and I had to miss work only for them to tell us that they're not going to do an ultrasound, AND they also told us that our life and our child's life was going to fall apart if we didn't get married and that nothing was going to work out for us, that we were going to fall into depression and kill ourselves just because I said I didn't want to rush into marriage and because it was an unplanned pregnancy. Their views as good parents are shit. Just because I'm not married and it's an unplanned pregnancy doesn't mean m life or my baby's life is going to fall apart. I just read the review from Andrew G. from over a year ago and felt I must respond. I am familiar with this organization and I TOTALLY disagree with his review. In fact it sounds like HE must have wanted the abortion and did not want his girlfriend to hear any other options and information that is most definitely true. I hope he opened his mind and allowed his girlfriend to hear HER TRUE choices. It is very irritating to hear people say things like " many studies on the good of abortion" yet I have never found one.
