If you do come here, be weary of visiting the NP Jill Lambert. Her way of practicing is very much of just checking off boxes during the appointment and making the appointment time very short. She doesn't give a thorough explanation of your questions. You will not get the care that you desire. During my visit, I brought up concerns of something I was struggling with very much. She stated that she cannot help me with my concern and brushed it off. It wasn't until the second appointment that she realized my concern was very valid. But by that time I had already switched providers. She even mentioned to me in person that she was surprised that my concern continued. I would be careful about going to a provider who is only in the room to quickly complete her patient chart as opposed to actually sitting and listening to the patient. read more

They made accessing birth control impossible in a state with abortion restrictions. They were forcing me to get the same bloodwork I had done two weeks prior with gp. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Valerie Scholten and the quality care she provides. She always takes the time to listen to my concerns and I never feel rushed during appointments. Her dedication to her practice and her patients truly set her apart. When I was in the hospital after delivering my son, I was struggling to get a much-needed medication (prescribed by another doctor) that I needed in order to go home. Even though it was a holiday weekend, she spent hours of her time coordinating with the pharmacy and ensuring that everything was taken care of. I had a great experince with Dr Kirstina Suntay followed by Dr. Valerie J. Scholten. The staff is very kind and the waiting times are minimum (upto 20mins) as compared to other locations. Both my doctors gave me enough time to answer my questions, and concenrns which is challenging to expect from their packed scheudle. The best experience was during my delivery with Dr. Scholten. Many rush to deliver your child whereas Dr. Scholten ensured that right postures and techniques were used for smoother delivery. Highly recommend! read more

As a first time parent, this place was a disheartening and disappointing experience. I called the morning of my appointment to clarify a question on my insurance, only to be met with a less than welcoming voice on the other end of the phone. I was told that I couldn't have my questions answered because their phones were ringing off the hook and there was no time, until i mentioned possibly cancelling and paying the late fee rather than being surprised with a bill I wasn't prepared for. She then was magically able to run my insurance and give me an exact quote. Although I was thrown off by her lack of hospitality, I politely mentioned I'd call her back. I was hung up on. I could not bring myself to trust this place based on their customer care, nor my first pregnancy. It's a shame to be in a position where you have a very clear opportunity to make the world a better, kinder place yet choose not to. To the Desert Sage Office, please take into consideration the state that the people you are caring for are in. We know you deal with pregnancies every day, but for some of us, it's a once in a lifetime experience. Don't ruin it for the mother's you're looking to care for. read more

I moved to the Scottsdale area 5 years ago and was searching for a gynecologist. I found the best with Dr. Scholten. The office is well run, and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. This Is one of the best Doctors I've ever had. I started coming here when I had my son. I had a difficult pregnancy and Dr scholten and her staff, did an amazing job keeping me as comfortable as possible. Thanks to her expertise I was able to deliver safely. She makes me feel welcome and addresses all my concerns every-time. Even though I have moved away from the Scottsdale area, I travel 45 min to come see her. Jill and Teresa are also amazing. Even the office ladies are kind and efficient. I've never had a bad experience on any occasion. As long as I'm in Arizona and she continues her practice I will forever visit her. This is the best Doctor's office I have ever dealt with. I chose this office because of their good reviews, the fact that they accept my insurance and their location (I was particularly looking for a Scottsdale based OB/GYN office). At the beginning, I had no preference for a doctor but as with most patients, you are interested in good experienced doctors with good reviews. When I was looking to schedule an appointment and establish a file at an OB/GYN office, I was given an appointment with Dr. Kristina Suntay. She had a close opening in her schedule; everyone else was fully booked for months. When I reviewed her profile, I saw that she was young but had a good background. My first appointment with her was for wellness only. She was professional and listened carefully to my medical history and made sure she documented everything. My following appointments with her were for my pregnancy. Every appointment went very well. She is always willing to listen to any concerns, answer questions and explain next steps and towards the end of my pregnancy, she explained the delivery process multiple times to make sure I knew exactly when to head to the hospital and how she would be contacted. Never have a left from her office feeling concerned or lacking any information. On delivery day, Dr. Suntay was calm throughout the process and showed professionalism and care. She also has excellent bedside manners and is very personable. I was very glad I chose her as my doctor! The office staff are also some of the best I've experienced. They are courteous and friendly. I have seen patients from different backgrounds, ages, pregnant and not walk into the office and they all were treated with equal courtesy and professionalism. This was an excellent experience from start to finish and I would strongly recommend the office and particularly Dr. Suntay to any one! read more

I disliked this place. From the front to the doctor. The front office was laughing and snickering that I put "innocent heart murmur" as my cardiac history. They said around their desk while I was in the room, that I should know better as a nurse that this is not pertinent information. Then the Doctors come in with horrible bedside manners. Mind you this is my first pregnancy and my husband's. When I asked her what medications I was taking were still safe to take she said "anything over the counter is safe. Otherwise, they wouldn't be over the counter." Which is not true. There's a lot of medications you can't take. She acted like the questions we asked were common sense. My husband asked her what can I eat and what does she recommend I eat. She said a "healthy diet." The advice were so vague. The new doctor I am seeing hands out education pamphlets about the Do's and Don't with Medications and diet. Even though it may be common sense for her, it's not for anxious first time parents to be. She also stated she apologized for what the medical assistant were snickering about me, and that they're working on the radio so patients don't hear the conversations. I will never recommend Desert Sage, specifically Dr. Scholton to anyone!! I don't even know where to start.... during my pregnancy Dr. Scholton never knew anything about me when she would come in for appointment. From simply information to the big detail that I had fluid in my kidneys sending me to the ER. Come time for my induction due to medical concerns... she never checked in on and me and didn't even make it to the birth. She assumed since I was a first time mom she didn't need to rush over. Well she didn't arrive till 45 minutes after my baby. Decided also not show for my after care the next day. Don't worry she got paid for every bit of it though. Just awful. I waited an hour & 30 minutes to be seen at the 6 week follow up... just sodifying the fact that I will never go back read more

I had an ultrasound today. I can't say enough nice things about Leslie, who performed the ultrasound. She was kind, caring, listened to me with compassion, reassured me, took her time, explained everything in detail, and patiently & professionally answered all my questions. She put me at ease, and she has a great sense of humor too! I left the office today feeling so much better because Leslie treated me with the kindness & compassion that is synonymous with Desert Sage OBGyn's office. Had a bad experience here, I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks and they called me over and over on my day off from work before their opening hours and woke me up when I needed rest from the experience. They 'couldn't' give me an ultrasound when I came in full of worry but the ER could within that same week and confirmed my miscarriage. Super disheartening, I went to 2 different ER's before and after the visit to confirm what was happening to me. Now I have a 2,000 dollar bill from the ER, because the OBGYN couldn't help me. When I tried to call back I received an automated message that this was not within their phone hours, but they were calling me! Made no sense. I just chose to never go back. The lady who took my blood was a sweetheart tho! Also sent me a bill for the full pregnancy cost and I had to call back and let them know it must be a mistake because I told them over the phone I had a miscarriage. Having a miscarriage was hard enough but I really didn't appreciate the way this was handled. I am now pregnant with my rainbow baby and am 10 weeks! Will not go back or recommend to anyone. read more

If I could I would give this place a negative star review. The only thing positive I will say about this place is Nurse Practitioner Jill Lambert seems to care about her patients, is knowledgeable, will actually update you on you and your babies health. And that the front office staff are timely, always greet with a smile, and seem caring. Now to why I would give this place a negative star review. OBGYN Dr. Valerie Scholten is someone I will NEVER see again, will NEVER recommend, and if I could go back in time I would not have had her deliver my baby. At the time when I had my baby I was 19 and a JW, meaning I didn't accept blood products, and was going through family issues. The first time I met with Dr. Scholten she took the appointment to pry into my family life saying I needed to just suck it up and get back together with my parents because it's difficult to raise a baby (I didn't disclose very many details about my situation she knew practically nothing on what was happening), she also took the time to tell me "my life isn't over I can still go to college! College is online now!" I graduated with my Associates in Arts a week before highschool I don't need anymore college. What she didn't go over was how my baby looked on the scan, I later learned at my next appointment with the NP that they thought there may be something in or developmentally wrong with my baby's skull. Going down the timeline when I wanted to double check she was still aware I was not accepting blood products the first thing she told me was "oh so you just want to die" not a very comforting thing to hear from my doctor. She then tried to turn my partner against me by saying "well you don't want her to die do you? Have you talked about this??" Which I had but again not the best thing for a doctor. Again moving down the timeline when it came to actual labor and delivery. I did not want a C-Section. Was terrified of it. She let me know that she believes I will have a natural birth. Not even an hour later she's coming into the room that my father-in-law and my partners aunt was in and starts talking about next steps and that "this baby is coming out the sunroof". Not once did she ask if I wanted them in the room to go over this (a HIPPA violation) and I later found out she knew the whole time I was going to have that C-Section and never once mentally prepared me her patient. I truly feel and felt that she saw me as a 19 year old young girl who she could throw onto the back burner, use as a pay check and never truly give great care to. These are the main highlights of my time with Dr. Scholten as my doctor and this all happened a few months ago. So I warn young women, not to go to this doctor. read more

Beware off-handed comments might cost you dearly!!! I saw Dr. Scholten, for my annual well-woman exam at which time she stated that I had a benign polyp that she would remove as it might cause bleeding at a later date. She assured me there were no worries. She was not even sending it to the lab. She clipped it, as if clipping a bothersome hang nail and I was done. Or so I thought until I received a very surprising bill for $150. Our political leaders are encouraging citizens to become better healthcare consumers; how are we able to accomplish this when our healthcare providers do not actively participate in the process. I will be finding a new gynecologist. Dr Scholten, really let me down. read more

Desert Sage has one of the nicest staffs I have encountered in a medical office. Everyone there is always helpful. Some medical offices, when you call in with a question they often don't help you or seem irritated, but that has never been the case with Desert Sage. I have only been here a few times, one of those times was to get blood drawn, and their phlebotomist did a great job, wasn't poking around for veins or causing me any unnecessary discomfort! When I come in, I see the nurse practitioner, Jill Lambert. She has a calm and relaxed demeanor, which makes things much easier. She also does a great job, is quick and efficient, happy to answer any questions. Visiting the OB/GYN is never a good time, but I believe that Desert Sage provides the least unpleasant experience possible haha. I would recommend this place to any ladies looking for a helpful, caring OB/GYN. read more

If you like waiting on average 40-60 minutes to see the doctor for you SCHEDULED appointment, then this is the place for you. Can office management not schedule people accordingly? If an appointment takes 30 mins, don't schedule appointments every 15 or however long. Because you have to many people waiting too long. My appointment was 50 minutes ago and I'm still waiting..had to go outside because my toddler couldn't handle waiting for almost an hour.. This is ridiculous and is every single time. Call ahead if your running late or behind. My appointment was at 9:50 and it's 10:40 and I haven't seen a doctor yet..? The hell is wrong with this place? Friendly staff, but nice smiles don't make up for the lack of respect for their patients time. UPDATE: AFTER DELIVERY Doctor S. actually brought up this review that I wrote!!! She told my gf that if the review wasn't taken down they don't think they'd be able to see us anymore!!! THIS WAS WHILE SHE WAS IN THE RECOVERY ROOM!!! You think she wants to hear that crap about a legitimate review her bf left!! Totally unprofessional scum of the earth. Who TF DOES THAT!!!! Total disrespect, totally unprofessional. I can't recommend Desert Sage enough! The entire staff is attentive, friendly, and always helpful. Dr. Suntay is by far the best doctor I've ever had. She makes sure to take her time with you, answering any and all questions you may have. She's also great at anticipating questions and answering things you may not have even thought of. My prenatal visits went well - the office schedules them all up front instead of throughout the pregnancy like a lot of offices do. I really appreciated this because I never had to stress about getting an appointment with Dr. Suntay. We moved to Anthem a couple months into my pregnancy, and decided it was worth the 40 minute drive to the office - that's how much my husband and I both love these ladies! It can be intimidating moving and not having any established doctors however Jill Lambert was amazing and made the whole visit very easy and comfortable. It is always a good sign when the staff seems relaxed and happy especially around the doctors, that means those docs are good to work for and with. First I would love to state it's hard to find a place in the medical field where they make you feel welcome and like family. This office definitely does that! I highly recommend this place! Dr Suntay gave me great advice on what to try to get pregnant and it worked! We had a beautiful baby girl a little over a year ago! She and everyone else in this office has been so amazing! I was a new patient here so when they called to schedule my appointment I let them know I would be on my hour lunch break. As asked I was here 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out paperwork. The Paperwork maybe took 5 minutes to complete. So then I sat here after my paperwork waiting. My appointment was at 1115 and I was there at 11 but at 1130 no one has said a word to me. I told the front desk this was my one hour lunch break and now it's half way over at this point. Front desk staff weren't the nicest to deal with. When I asked how much longer I was told "you will be next". So they clearly don't care about the patients time as I was clear multiple times now I'm on my lunch break and I only have 30 minutes left as I've been sitting here for 30 minutes waiting. 10 more minutes go by until I was finally put in a room to only wait more. The medical assistant is super nice and helpful. However, I was still sitting there waiting at 11:50 when I have now 10 minutes left of my lunch break. So I've now been here waiting for 50 minutes when I stated I was on my lunch break. Finally I peek out and the doctor is there reviewing my file. She advises me that my wait time is within reason. I advised her I was on my lunch break and I let the person know who made my appointment and the doctor started arguing with me. She was acting like I worked there and knew how their office was ran. I had never been there before. She stated an hour or two wait would be needed with her office. I advised her I would not have made an appointment on my lunch if I would have known. She then advised me this is how doctor offices work. Well my primary and the other 2 doctors I see don't operate that way but I was supposed know her office did. She then asked if I wanted to continue the appointment. Well I just waited almost an hour. Yes I'd like to be seen. She was clearly a joke to work with as she could've cared less about my time or my situation. read more
