There's a few things that make this a great barber shop: 1. Scott takes his time with each customer. Now, this means you'll have to wait a bit longer, but it's worth it. 2. He listens to what you tell him regarding what and how you want. 3. He is consistent. This is huge. Most barbers have off days, which drives customers to venture out to new places. Scott doesn't have off days. I've tried several barbers in the Seattle area. None that I have been to hit each of those points. This place is well worth the price tag. 5 stars overall. read more

My husband has been looking for a good barber for years. After trying places all around the city, he's finally found someone to give him a great haircut that he's extremely happy with at "barber" prices (vs "salon" prices). We wanted to get my son's haircut too (Scott offers a father/son special), but the 2 year old had other ideas about that. Been coming here for 2 and a half happy years (----get it???). Scott is a pro and knows his craft quite well. He's quick and accurate. He's also a solid guy and easy to talk to. The only thing I can suggest about coming here for a cut, is to come at an odd hour. Scott is a popular barber in the area, and probably all of Seattle, so expect to find at least 2-3 waiting customers ahead of you. He's also the only barber here. He has a TV which is always on, plenty of reading material and complimentary drinks (some soda and maybe some beer????) and candy for the youngins. You can also call ahead and see if he is too busy or even open. Scott tends to operate on "Hawaiian" time so he doesn't always open on time - hence the sign on the window "Open 9ish". This is as close to the classic barber shop vibe as you can get. I've been going to see Scott since moving to the area and have been nothing but happy with the cuts he's given me, his skill with those clippers is pretty impressive. Also the fact that you can drink beers while you wait your turn is pretty awesome. I highly recommend going here for your next cut. read more

Scott is great. Awesome atmosphere, real old school feel. I needed a haircut for my brother in laws wedding. It can always be scary trying someone new, but that fear was eliminated once I walked in. My brother and I are regulars at the barber shop. We make sure to give him a visit when we drive back from school in eastern Washington. Scott is a cool dude who gives quality haircuts. The atmosphere is what an old school barbershop should be like. It's a fun place to just hang out and b.s. with Scott and the other patrons until it's your turn in the mighty chair. I've been going to Scott for close to a decade. It's a true barber shop: men only (unless Mom is bringing her guys in), lively conversation across all topics, sometimes a game on the TV, and always a great haircut. The shop itself is clean and comfortable. Scott is personable, funny and always willing to either join in or start up a conversation. What's really important are the haircuts. Mine has been consistently fantastic for all my time there, and it's not an easy haircut. The straight razor finish on the neck and sideburns are equally good, and really give that extra something to the look. If you are looking for fancy, pretentious salons, then keep looking. If you are looking for a classic barber shop where you can get a great haircut (and maybe a cold beer), then go here. You won't regret it. read more

While Scott lists 9-ish as the time he opens, I stayed until 9:45 today and he hadn't shown up yet. Nor did he have any other system in place to let customers know the status of things. I decided to leave. As I drove by a few minutes later I saw that he was open but I won't be a customer to his business again. read more

I've been going to scott since 1999 at his previous ballard location and found his skills exceptional, with consistent results and downright inexpensive compared to others. he listens to what you want and has the skills to do what you've asked. additionally, he has the casual conversation and easy banter part down, too. must come from working along side and learning from his father (another pro barber). new place is a bit further awawy, but i'm happy top make the drive cuz I know i'll be pleased. no surprises. just great cuts, great conversation, great prices. done. read more
