My doctor told me to do that since it's almost Christmas and they won't be back until the following Tuesday. I was told it would be ready by 3:00 pm, so we went at 4:30. We got there and they said it has to be reviewed by the pharmacist. I said you had the script for 6 hours and it still isn't done after i was told it would be ready by 3:00 pm. Then they said we so t have enough so we won't fill it at all. What! So your saying to a person who just had a complete hip replacement that you won't fill a script, but at first you said it has to be reviewed by the pharmacist. I got home and called and not once or twice but 6 times i called back to back to back and no one would even call another pharmacy to see if they had it in stock. They kept saying I'll transfer you yo that pharmacy. Well what's the number I'm calling if I'm not calling THAT SAID PHARMACY. The last time i called i was yet again told I'll give you the pharmacist voicemail and by LAW THEY ARE REQUIRED TO CALL YIU BACK IN A HALF AN HOUR. Nope, didn't happen. It's now 12:55 pm Christmas Eve and yet again I'm Told I should go to the store. I said I did yesterday and yet again today I'm getting the run around. I have been on hold waiting for someone to pick up for 13 minutes. I have NEVER had an issue with Walgreens filling a script before in my life. If I had the choice I would have told my doctors office to send it yo the one I use to go to in South Anchorage. At least my daughter said she would go and pick it up for me i have been in so much pain that I'm crying all day. I have records of how long I've waited on each call and the number amounts of times I called as well. I will be contacting the State of Alaska Business office Walgreens Corporate Office (probably won't get any where with them as well) and anyone else I can. No pharmacy is above the law no matter what. You are here to provide a service and with the amount of reviews just on this pharmacy Im wondering why this store hasn't been closed down. I wish Yelp allowed you to post with out leaving a star but they won't let you post a review with out it Signed, A HIP REPLACEMENT PATIENT IN PAIN!*** UODATE*** After 25 minutes the pharmacist finally picked up. Just surprised the system didn't Hang up in me. He put me on hold and said you get this filled at Fred Meyers I said yes until they finally told us they couldn't get any in. So my Doctors office sent it to you. Shirt version he tells me and i quote; I have a regular customer i have to fill his first so when I get to yours I won't have enough. I said so his will get filled before mine even though you had mine since yesterday you will fill his he said YUP. I asked can I get something "NOPE CANG HELP YOU!" I said i just had a hip replacement he cuts me off and says NOPE CANT HELP YOU. I asked can you check with the one in 88th he goes yet again NOPE. I asked why he says it's electronic and we can't do that. I'm balling on the phone and i asked i said Sir I just had a hip replacement and I'm in pain he says NOPE CANT HELP YOU! At that point i yelled at him and said FU! And i Hung up. So it's Christmas Eve and i have nothing for my pain nothing. This is why I called and verified they had the script and they had enough. And like I said above I was told they did. But no Now they have to fill his first before mine since he's a regular and they won't have enough if they do that. I'm attaching copies of the call logs up to the last phone call @walgreenspharmacy

This is a review for the retail, not the pharmacy…read more I stand by my previous review of this location. I now live around the corner from this Walgreens and it's basically our neighborhood grocery store. Lemme tell you, it's HORRIBLE compared to other Walgreens. The layout- awful. The selection- awful. And trying to get in and out the parking lot at Anchorage's most busiest intersection is AWFUL. I WOULD NOT go here if I had an alternative, I only go here because I can walk. But they don't even have a good selection of snacks or food when you're sick. Blah.

He cut me off every time I spoke, told me my medication was not $1.53, as quoted by other Walgreens store, and that, "insurance NEVER covers Benzonatate, and hasn't as long as he's worked there!" Well, guess what, YOU WERE wrong. It did cost $1.53 after insurance! He would not even check with my new insurance card and info I had. This behavior is unexceptable. You don't tell a customer they can't have your name or be transferred to a manager, and then hang up on them! I hope you didn't choke on your pride, Sir, when you saw you were wrong! All that attitude and rudeness, and "no it all," attitude, and you were wrong and out of line. I hope you learned a valuable lesson today and learned to use your ears to listen more. Shame on how you treated me!

Wow, well...fool me once, shame on you…read more Fool me twice, shame on me. I came here to write about a bad FedEx experience and realized...I have already written that exact same thing...and forgot about it. DO NOT SEND YOUR FEDEX PACKAGES HERE. The packages aren't being scanned when they arrive here, and so they look like they are on a truck for days. They will say "unavailable for pickup"...forever. And they are actually available for pickup. Here's my boring shipping story: Thursday morning at 5am the FedEx tracking said "on vehicle for delivery" and "should arrive before 9am". Then it updated to say, should arrive before end of day Thursday. Then it updated to say, should arrive by end of Friday (today). But, there was no new timestamp since the 5am vehicle scan... Since there was no time stamp on this package since 5am...I guessed that there probably is a scan that happens when the driver transfers the package to a FedEx/Walgreens for customer pickup...and maybe it didn't happen. I went to Walgreens, even though FedEx said "not available for pickup", and told them it was probably there, and the dimensions. They searched for it a little, and then tried to turn me away. I pointed to a box that could be it and was like "what about that?" and they were like "no, those are shipments for Walgreens, like our supplies and stuff" I pressed them further and they checked it, and it was mine. I signed for it on their scanner and a few seconds later got a push notification from FedEx "your item is now available for pickup!" These employees need more training and organization and/or FedEx needs to make sure these get scanned when they hand them over to Walgreens!

I wanted to avoid the crowds at the nearby Carrs across the street or go to the chaotic mess that is the midtown Walmart. This Walgreens location is located on the corner of Northern Lights Blvd. and Minnesota Dr. across from the Aurora Village Carrs and adjacent to Starbucks. One of the busiest intersections during rush hour, I had no desire to go to the supermarket and just wanted to be in a less crowded place. Granted, the supermarkets are cheaper for food items than Walgreens and they have larger selections, but I just wanted to do a quick in and out and not worry about parking. That was a mistake. The evening when I came in, most of the shelves were unbelievably barren or poorly stocked. I was hoping to get a few snack and drink items for the office and not have to spend additional money eating out on lunch break every day. That wasn't the case here. I was looking for 4 or 6 pack bottled water or ice tea to place in a fridge with limited space at work. Unfortunately, the Walgreens around town don't have bottle packs that size or on the times I was there, just 24/28 packs of bottled water. Ice tea bottles would have to be purchased separately. Looking at the shelves more closely, there were many empty areas in one aisle alone. It'd be a stretch to think that this store could sell out items consistently if Carrs across the way has a wider variety and discounts every single day. There are items that are better deals when they are on sale, but unavailability is a major issue. This was not a one-time thing. I have noticed that in the past several weeks every time I came in to get something. Another major problem here is their pharmacy. It was temporarily closed due to staffing and people who have prescriptions here would have to notify their doctor's office to arrange a pick up at a different location. I'm sure a lot of customers were not happy about that. The employees are friendly and helpful but their hands are tied as to the problems this store is having. This would have been a convenient spot to avoid Carrs if low inventory and being short-handed weren't a common occurrence here.

I have been a fan of Walgreens since my college days some *mumbles* years ago. Of course the stone…read moreage is over and now they have these things called computerized cash registers and drive through pharmacy windows. Imagine that! Also gone are the days of cheap, cheap prices. Walgreens after all has evolved with the economy and is definitely not the cheapest place in town for a quick deal. I was happy to see Walgreens arrive in Anchorage a couple of years ago and like their old slogan of "one on every corner" it certainly seemed that way when it came to their build up here. Now Anchorage sports many locations and their locations are pretty convenient to every area of town. While not my favorite location, I do swing by the Abbott location now and then. My experience here does not deal with the pharmacy in any matter but rather the shopping and selection. As mentioned it's not the absolutely best Walgreens location when it comes to being fully stocked. I find that tends to be the Minnesota and Northern Lights location. But this location does come in a close second. And it is not quite as much of a pain in the butt to get in and out of as say Tudor and Lake Otis. Whose idea was that anyway? Walgreens tends to carry a little bit of everything including some minor amounts of groceries. So if you are in a hurry and want to avoid the grocery store you actually can find some staples here. Mostly though I come to Walgreens for personal care and cosmetic items. Because sometimes there are just deals to be had. Especially when it comes to their Balance Rewards program. The Balance Rewards is their loyalty program where you earn so many points per dollar spent. Sometimes there are 5x to even 10x per points for every dollar spent. This includes prescriptions and photos. As a member you have access to member only perks and paperless coupons which you can electronically tag to your Walgreens app which in turn is loaded to your Balance Rewards fob. You get a $5.00 off reward for every 5,000 points you bank. And with the multiple points per dollar and electronic coupons they add up quickly. Hey it's a great way to watch your pennies if you are trying to save money. Additionally the Balance Rewards program is rewarding one for making healthy choices you make every day. I.e. setting a health goal, linking the app to your fit bit, etc. If you are interested in walking, running or cycling you earn 20 points for every mile. It can be fun to "play the game" so to speak and really see how many points you can save up and then let the savings come to you. All in all I will continue to shop at Walgreens and at the Abbott location. The employees in particular at this location have been some of the friendliest I have run into out of any of their locations. Plus I don't have to deal with the questionable "customers" I have experienced at the Minnesota and Northern Lights or Muldoon locations.

A Yelp review by definition asks you to share an experience you had with a particular business…read more Thank goodness incidents such as this are extremely rare, I still hate writing them up. While not very pleasant, here are highlights of last Saturday: It's all I can do to take the high road and not start making calls to corporate. In a nutshell, the Saturday night pharmacist told me I could walk around with a sign around my neck telling everyone I'm autistic. Deny it if she can (which she can't). When I openly complained about my sucky insurance covering continuous glucose monitors, she snaps back that if I didn't like it, I could "always prick my fingers" (For the record, that would be 4+ times a day). Btw, I was NEVER addressing her with my comments. I was dealing with the pharmacy tech, you know, the woman who was a total professional and treating me (the customer) with respect? The one that was sympathetic to my situation and researched different options for me. The wise ass pharmacist can't seem to mind her own business and keep to herself. Which I wouldn't mind her intrusion, if she were aiding the situation. Maybe quit jamming purple dye in your hair long enough to gain some professional skills and human compassion? I guess another example of maturity not up to the par of the age. I later discovered from some of the nurses at the hospital, this isn't unique and they are well aware of "Miss Attitude". Since the ins. co. insists we use CVS, we were advised to drive all the way down to the 100th Ave location. Wow. 1/23

Last week, during the snow storm at 5am I stopped to get propane and was charged by the gallon, as their propane is advertised (3.99/gal). During that time I thank the store manager, Erich, for his amazing service and explained that I heat using propane and his station was the only place that could give propane that early in the morning. This week, during the deep freeze I went back to buy propane and was charge a flat rate of $17.99/tank. I asked Erich about the false advertisement on the top of their propane station that stated $3.99/gal and his response was that one of his workers actually took the new sign down but, that they had been charging the flat rate since April because it was company policy. I explained that that wasn't how I was charged last week and he told me that one of his employees must have made a mistake. When I explained that it was him that filled my propane last week then he told me that he didn't have to fill the propane at all and I could have a refund and leave because he didn't want to argue that early in the morning. This man took advantage of a single mom that needed heat to keep her children warm during a deep freeze! Great job at providing excellent customer service... not!!
