Chicken $ waffles salt water taffy lol!!
    Hannah S.

Definitely had to stop in for some salt water taffy while by the sea! And especially bc I'd never had any before lol! Out of all the candy stores we stopped in to compare taffy flavors, this store had, by far, the cleanest taffy bins and freshest taffy we found! The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Covid safety measures were followed as much as possible. They had all sorts of stuff, chocolates, truffles, popcorn, any type of candy you might want, and an insane amount of taffy flavors! Even chicken-and-waffles and cayenne pepper!! Their taffy is soft and full of flavor! I tried to take pics of the different taffy bins so I could identify them later but it is still hard to tell which one is which though lol! My only suggestion for improvement would be to maybe give out a "menu" or card or something with pics so we can tell which flavors are which...otherwise it's all good here!

I've always enjoyed bringing my nephews here to buy taffy. There must fifty different flavors and it's so much fun to go through them all. The fact that they're arranged in a boat scores major points with the kids. All the jars and cases filled with hard candies, stick candies, chocolates, licorices, etc. will remind those over 40 of a old-fashioned candy store, the likes of which we rarely see these days. Bought a bag of assorted liquorice, however, and it wasn't very fresh. I think the selection is too big for the volume of patrons and gets old. I'd stick to the taffy and the wrapped candy. They also have some fun toy and gift displays, however, which helps make this an entertaining stop along the bay front. Put together a small bag of candy to savor and enjoy while you walk the boardwalk and see the sights.

It was a thicker clam chowder, but it was absolutely delicious. Creamy, and they were generous with the ingredients. A very good bowl of chowder. For my main course, I had the combination halibut, king Salmon, and tuna. They were very generous with the portions. The fish was delicious. The halibut and the salmon were tender and juicy. The tuna was just a tiny bit chewier, but it was also very good. The fish was lightly breaded, although a few of the pieces. Were a bit darker than the others. That took away from it just a tiny tiny bit. But overall, successful. The tartar sauce was very good, rich and tangy. Instead of the fries, I finished with the coleslaw. It was not overdressed, and I liked the dressing. It was a sweeter dressing than your standard mayonnaise, but not overly sweet. It was an excellent coleslaw. For all of the quality food I got, the price was very reasonable. I would come back the next time. I'm in town. Thank you!

Nate 2026 Newport, Oregon…read more Came here based on recommendations from somebody in Bend, Oregon, and a local. I will start by saying I was not impressed. We had a reservation and they took us in a few minutes early and sat us upstairs. We sat near the window that overlooks the harbor and could see it from our table. Very pretty. There is a bar area and other tables that are away from the window that don't have the same view. When we were approached by the waitress, she informed us that they were out of Dungeness crab. Our reservation was at 6:15 PM. Seems a bit odd that a town known for Dungeness crab and the restaurant doesn't have it during peak dinner hours. My husband ordered a cup of clam chowder, and I ordered a cup of the Dungeness crab soup. I loved the creaminess of my soup. However, it was not served hot. Also, there were so many shells in my soup that every bite I had to remove one from my mouth. I do believe that the roux sauce had too much flour and was not mixed well. The clam chowder was not creamy, but had a good flavor. Chunks of carrot and celery. Both soups were served with a portion of bread. The bread was good. We shared the salmon dish. We asked our waitress if we could have the peas on the side as my husband has an allergy to peas. She was quick to tell me that there would be no substitutions. I informed her I was merely asking for the peas to put on a separate dish when brought to the table. She said that she would need to clear it with the kitchen first. Apparently, they approved, as the peas were served on the side. We did enjoy the salmon. It is cooked, medium rare. However, the middle of the salmon fillet was more rare. The buttery sauce was delicious and the asparagus was cooked very well. The mushrooms were delicious. The restaurant is very casual. The outside is not much to look at. The service was fine, but not exceptional. The food was good, but my expectations were so much higher for all of the accolades I had heard prior to dining. They add an automatic tip of 20% to every tab. Then on the bill, they politely ask for an additional gratuity. See the picture of the reason for their 20% gratuity on each bill in the photos that I have attached. I would give this restaurant four stars. It is a B rating for what should be an A restaurant.

Newport Bay Candle has them all... scented candles, triple scented wax melts, bath salts, car scents, all handmade right here in Newport OR. The candles are a little pricey but the sweet elderly lady in charge of the store mentioned that they last long. The candles were made of gel (not wax) and that I was told they have a smaller flame allowing it to burn 2-3x longer than traditional wax candles. Hmm... this was the first time I've seen candles made of gel. I didn't know that the Factory Store is located just a few miles from Newport's Historic Bay Front store. From printing to pouring they are made locally at their factory store. I would've been interested in seeing where the magic happened and come watch them pour the candles. Anyway, I ended up getting my co-worker a gift from Oregon which I hope she'll like. Review #3252
