Do not use 20/20 air. Run! We used this company through Costco. Our A/C was installed 6 years ago. I have had it literally catch on fire. Paid $2000 to fix it and now down again. They do not stand by their work. Had 2 new company's out who explained that it is broken again because it was not fixed correctly. Will cost $11,000 to fix and then still may not work. 20/20 could care less. They installed my furnace and guaranteed it would be done in a day. Old one wasn't broken. Not done in a day left in the dead of winter for 3 days, no heat. Original furnace not broken but they convinced me to do it then. They even said to me that they never said it would be done in a day. Run, don't walk! Stay away from this overpriced with rude customer service company. Long story short, wasted $3300.00 in a span of 3 days and A/C was still not fixed. If you're interested in details, read on... Our central A/C stopped working on 7/11/24 in the midst of a heat wave. Our usual A/C guy wasn't available so we searched for an alternative and 20/20 Air came up first in Google search. Note to self, never pick from the top of the list. It's likely they paid to be on top of the search list and recover the cost by charging a premium over others. Technician came out the next day on 7/12. I wasn't home at the time but red flag number 1... My wife said he asked to use the bathroom as soon as he arrived and stayed in there for a good 20+ minutes. Whatever, if you have to go you have to go. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. He finally got out and checked the system and indicated the system was low on refrigerant and recommended a cleaning as the coils were "dirty". I communicated to him over the phone that the system was just maintenanced back in March of this year and the coil should be clean, but he insisted on the coils being dirty and that was the root cause. He assured me that if system fails again he will come back and make good on it, unless there was a leak. 4lbs of refrigerant @$138/lb, $1200 and 48hrs later, A/C stopped working again on Sunday 7/14. The line was visibly frozen outside. Upon further inspection in the basement, the first technician forgot to put the filter back so the unit was running without a filter for 2 days. Called and got a call back within the hour. The lady indicated no one would be dispatched on Sunday so we scheduled an appointment for next day Monday 7/15. However, we were still in the middle of an unusual heat wave so I called back to see if there was any way to send someone out. The same lady was very unsympathetic and indicated we could call someone else and cancel the appointment for Monday in a very rude manner. Not having much choice, and wanting to have them "make good" on the first visit, we kept the appointment for next day. On Monday 7/15 another technician came out first thing in the morning. After accessing the situation he indicated there was a leak (duh). It was obvious they weren't going to make good on the first repair, and gave us 3 options: 1 - inject sealant with dye (only offers 75% guarantee) + cost of refrigerant ~ $1.7k 2 - Option 1 with one free return visit ~ $2.7k 3 - Isolation pressure test (no A/C for 2 weeks) and 10lb of Refrigerant ~ $5k Obviously options 2 and 3 were out of the question, and since option 1 offered 75% success rate with the sealant, we opted for it and crossed our fingers. He ended up charged the system with 8lb of refrigerant which brought the final cost for the day to $2k. 48 hours went by and guess what, the A/C stopped working again. Line was visibly frozen again outside. At this point we decided to cut our loses after wasted $3.3k on literally nothing in 3 days. Luckily our regular A/C guy was available and he came within the hour. Within the first 5 min of his arrival he found the potential culprit. He found compressor oil inside the unit, used soapy water to check for leaks and traced it back to the Schrader valve. Replaced it and re-charged the system with 5lbs of refrigerant and it's been working since. Total cost, $1200.00. Moral of the story, stick to companies you are familiar with, with good customer service, and good trouble shooting skills. I'm a fool for having them service my unit not once but twice. I would not have made this review had I had my A/C fixed, even at $3.3k. But their technicians should have been able to pin point the issue if they were competent and not try to over sell unnecessary services. Lessons learned. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. DO NOT USE THEM. First, last August I called because my AC was making a noise. The technician who came then decided to "service" all four units, not just the one making noise and took water out of each unit. I have never seen water coming out any unit until this. Now, when I started using the unit they began leaking for the first time ever. Ultimately, they damaged our very expensive units. When I called, Eleanor called me back and she is one of the representatives which calls customers back to set appointments. She was very nasty, rude, and argumentative and it's clear that she hates her job. Im literally disgusted with how I was spoken to when just trying to set an appointment to service my unit. As a mental health professional, I try to be patient even when customer service employees are rude because everyone has bad days but this was shocking. After a technician did come, he told us it would be $359 to fix the issue. After completing the "fix" he said it actually wouldn't fix the issue and the new resolution costs $1500. After leaving, we see the credit card was actually charged $424. After calling to inquire about the issue, Alex said he did speak to the technician who gave us the incorrect price. He then stated we were lying and were ultimately told the new price of $399. I asked what would be done to fix this since we were not told and charging our card a different price is fraud. He said nothing so I informed him I would call the credit card company to see what they advise me to do. He said "I will let finance know to look for a chargeback because of scammers like you" and hung up. That was his resolution instead of refunding the $40 that was fraudulently charged. Meanwhile, we did not even complain about being charged $359 with the false promise of that fixing the issue, then being told it was $1500 but they do not offer a breakdown of pricing of what is included in the $1500. read more

I've been dealing with 20 20 for the last 3 or 4 years. Mostly installations of bits and parts, a new system when I needed it, but I have to say up front that I don't recognize the company from the rest of the reviews. They're far from cheap, but everything I have had done has been right. I always get a call back and reception is always careful to be clear about what I'm asking and checks if they don't know the answer. I ask a *lot* of questions and I have a lot of creative ideas that I do not always implement. You do need to have realistic expectations of heating and cooling. I have *no* experience with service contracts as a lot of people have complained about; a terrible experience with PETRO years ago seriously turned me off of that. I have seen a lot of poorly run businesses (and continue to do so) to the point that I generally don't post about them. Nothing that I've seen has given me any impression that 20 20 is anything other than a standard run business in a busy industry. I hope your experience will be the same as mine. read more

Jennifer Friedly, owner of 20/20 Air, is as unprofessional as I have ever encountered for a couple of reasons. Most notably her foul attitude. After four years of monthly maintenance contract with 20/20 Air and regular maintenance with them I had one "opportunity" to speak to her and she was nasty. You know the kind of nasty that no matter what you try to say she won't let you say it and she'll turn it around and put it on you. It's a technique she's very familiar with... I come from the school of civility where it okay to disagree without tearing into somebody. It's shocking to me that a business owner would be so awful. So here's what I know about 20/20 Air having been with them for 4 plus years. Her on-site techs push new parts, systems etc. They can't be trusted as to what really needs replacement. Their go to answer is to "sell" when you ask them questions about your own equipment. Each one has admitted to me that they are under pressure to do so. Apparently, I had offended Jennifer by letting it be known over the years that I wanted the masters of their craft working in my home and not the apprentices. For the monthly retainer price I was paying and additional charges every time they came to do maintenance that she was charging me, I really didn't want somebody who was inexperienced working on both my heating and air conditioning systems. But as it turned out, and what I've learned is, most of all I want good people in my home. And by that I mean polite and trustworthy. I'd highly recommend not getting mixed up with this group and going with another company. There are so many others to choose from..... read more

We set up an appointment to diagnosis why my furnace was not working. I was told on the phone I would be charged $69 to diagnose the problem. At the end of the service call I was charged almost $300. They show up for the first maintenance and then tell me it's $129. Huh? The maintenance agreement covers spring & winter. Well, it's spring. They say I have to wait 6 months (even though they already charged me 2 mths for the plan). So, looks like they wanted $129 + $300 for the plan. Never disclosed. Told them to take a hike, Now, they want to charge me for making a service call even though nothing was done. Obnoxious Jennifer Friedly told me they "don't work for free". We've been doing business with 20/20 Air since December 2019. They are expensive, but they fixed some issues that we had been having with our HVAC system. Our A/C stopped working last week and we called them to see if they could come and diagnose the issue. Now I don't mind paying for a service call, but I think charging us $257 plus tax to tighten a screw on a damper that they installed in December is outrageous. We voiced our concern about the charge before the service was performed and the company's response was either pay or the tech would leave. Since we'd been without AC for almost a week, we had them go ahead and tighten the screw with the hope that that was the only problem. Next time we have a problem, I'm going to see if we can find another contractor. read more

FLAT RATE COMPANY!!! Do NOT sign a maintenance agreement and do not engage their services unless you just want to GIVE MONEY AWAY. A condenser pump, which costs $50 at Home Depot took the technician 5 minutes to plug in and move the drain line. Total charge $529.52. I'm a customer with a maintenance agreement so that's the charge after a 10% discount and a $25 coupon that was given to me, otherwise it would have been nearly $581 plus tax. (for a $50 part and not even 30 minutes labor) Our story: Day 1- General maintenance check by 20-20, condensate pump was not diagnosed as bad. Day 2 - I awoke to water all over the basement floor. I'll compliment 20-20 on their quick service, but you will pay for it. Pump was replaced and $529.52 charged. I tried to negotiate with Jessica over the phone and she held strong to their FLAT rate policy, which is high way robbery. We cancelled our maintenance plan. 20-20 continued to charge for the entire contract, 4 months going forward. Day 3 - Water ALL over the floor again. Because we didn't pay the bill yet, they would not come back out and rectify the situation. She told us their service is not guaranteed. (WHAT?) At the time the pump was installed, we were on a service contract, service isn't guaranteed? Jessica wanted payment in full and then she would send someone out to rectify the situation. Day 3 (pm) - We found a kink in the line where the water was supposed to be draining. Come to find out, we didn't need a new pump at all. Our original pump was working fine. During maintenance, they should have found the kink in the line and diagnosed why the pump was full of water and not draining properly. 20-20 Installed a new pump for no reason, telling us our old one was faulty. Jessica claims their technicians are masters at their craft and they do not recommend homeowners to do their own work. Well, this homeowner took it in their own hands and found out that this company is not thorough. I do not recommend them at all. Make sure the company you goes with charges for parts and the labor to do so - NOT A FLAT RATE. 20-20 is not charging honest prices. read more

Do not use this company. I was on a service contract with them paying $25 a month. They cam to do their Spring check up of my heating and air conditioning system. This service is provided twice a year under the service contract. Watch out from there. After they left the inspection, on the next morning the basement floor was covered with water. I was not home and asked my girlfriend to give them a call because they must have done something during the service call to cause the problem. It turns out that there was condensation in the air conditioning lines and when run filled up the condensate pump. The techs said that the pump was not pumping. They did not explain to her what the pump did and she thought she was in the middle of a water emergency. She texted me and the quote of almost $600 dollars to replace a $50 pump which takes less than 5 minutes to install. IO called her right away and told her not to have them to any work. Too late pump was replaced. Techs suggested we call the office and try to negotiate. Forget that idea. Their employee in charge of collection is the worst and very rude. To add insult to injury within 12 hours of the techs replacing the pump, the basement floor was covered with water. I called again and was told that they do not warranty any work once they leave your house. I didn't want another $600 dollar bill so I took a quick look myself. Turns out that there was a kink in the hose from the pump and water could not pass through. Diagnosed and fixed within 3 minutes. I did not need a new pump. Technician did not test to see if pump he installed was working let alone the good one he removed. I don't know about you but when I turn on the garden hose and water does not come out I do not replace the faucet but look for a kink in the hose. Just sayin. read more

This company installed a brand new 2 zone HVAC system in January 2020. When I went to turn on the AC in June it didn't work and required new parts. The system was new already. Furthermore, they went up in the attic to repair damage caused by another company and stepped on the Sheetrock causing the ceiling to buckle. The owner tried to claim it was pre existing and refused to take any responsibility. And she hung up on me. I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased a heating/AC unit from 20/20 Air. I went through Costco because I thought I could trust their judgment. I had a 30 year old system and my A/C was giving me trouble. I thought if I spent $18,000, I would be carefree. It will be two years next month and I have had no heat in the winter 5 times. Once I had to wait 3 days, with temperatures as low as 45 degrees in my house. Today, I am getting ready to call because I have no A/C and it will be 90 degrees today. It was no surprise because this happened last summer. Each visit costs a few hundred dollars for whatever they make up. And I am still under warranty LOL Well, it is funny to them anyway. The company does not stand by their work. They came to repair my air conditioning system which had a leak. They repaired one part of the leak but not the other! When we asked for them to come back and check on the other leak they wanted to charge us again! Did a great job of install, people really nice at installation - the problem came later. Their website says '$250 off' if you use WEBOFFER. Which, to be extremely clear, I asked for BEFORE we signed up for the installation. I never got the money because they decided it needed to be on the contract... I asked for it to be included BEFORE we signed, because they said it comes later, and I trusted it would. However the money never came because it was meant to be on the contract (I know - that's what I asked for; go figure). They argued it was our fault because it wasn't on the contract (you know, they contract they draw up and get you to sign and say that they'll find out about it later?? That one!!). Service is way overpriced. Wanted to change us $1200 for replacing 8 feet of HVAC insulation. They didn't even have to cut open the ceiling to do so as it was exposed. Nice try 20/20 but $80 vs $1400.00, seems to me you should be working on your math skills instead of pseudo-paralegal contract law. ORIGINAL: There must be a better alternative out there. I can only speculate the core issue but the technicians all seem to be on an incentive program for add on sales. They are always pleasant but some are kind of sheepish about defending their recommendations if you question the need or the cost. Do NOT sign a Maintenance Agreement with them. Priority appointments do not seem to exist. Had to wait 5+ days for a leaking valve in boiler but Salesman was available immediately to quote on replacing AC air handler. Never receive same day service so forget emergencies. When invoking the 100% Guarantee they claim to not know anything about that (4th bullet on Maintenance Contract) and chose not to honor it. Owner would not send agent last evening to address flooded basement which occurred after tech left without replacing valve as requested. Owner said she would cancel our maintenance agreement last evening but this morning another rep called to ask if they could help. I asked what they were offering and she said they would replace the valve Today between 12-4:00 (without 90 day warranty because I would not agree to 1100.00 recommended replacement of water and new antifreeze) but they were still going to charge another 680 to drain and replace water. On top of the 69.00 eval fee they charged me yesterday for not doing what I asked them to do. I asked that to be refunded and Jessica said "that's not going to happen". She also said that she would send me confirmation that my contract has been canceled. That's 2 people who offered and I accepted for them to cancel our agreement. We'll see because another client posted on yelp that they kept taking money because the cancellation was never submitted in writing. The antifreeze and inhibitor they recommended to be put in costs $200.00 for 10 gals and $18.00 for qt. of inhibitor. The valve costs 20.00. The amount quoted was 900.00 for antifreeze, 235.00 for inhibitor (which is simply mixed with the antifreeze) and 289 for the valve. No consideration for poor service/lack of communication or flooded basement. This is only the latest example of the suspected gouging this company engages in. My recent A/C maintenance (Which they performed in February for some reason) resulted in a recommended replacement of outside compressor due to high Start up amps. When I pointed out that the unit was under warranty suddenly it was not a big deal. When I checked with the office about this recommendation being documented, they had no info about it but said they were months behind on entering visit notes so it will probably show up soon in their system. Luckily I preserved the hand written notes. Another time a tech came in and said that we had the wrong circulation pump on the heating system and needed to replace it for 536.00. I pointed out to him that they installed the wrong one months earlier and after discussions with the office they replaced it without charge. They routinely recommend a clear drainage trap to replace 2 existing PVC traps for $310. each. The part costs 10.00 and the current plain old traps have been working fine for 12 years with the exception of 1 clog which was not in the trap. I have never felt compelled to leave reviews like these but reading some of the other reviews on them I wished I had seen them before I had engaged with them. If you have no friends and don't like your family then go ahead and recommend this company, otherwise stay away. read more

Stay away from this company. They are crooks. My furnace stopped working during the winter and I called the company come take a look. Within 1 minute the technician/owner discovered the problem to be the emergency switch next to the light switch was turned off. My son must have flipped it by accident while playing in the basement. I was fine paying the agreed upon service charge of $189. But the technician/owner charged me an additional $200 for "Miscellaneous Repair" aka -- flipping a light switch. To my chagrin, I later checked the Better Business Bureau ratings on this company and they had an F. Stay away. read more

He asked what was the main problem with our air conditioning system (the reason why we called) and he checked the thermostats and the furnace. Had 20 20 come out to investigate an air conditioning problem at my rental unit . They advised me that it needed a new compressor condenser assembly and the they could convert my system without anything further. Forty five days later ac is blowing warm . Call , they check it out and the coil is now leaking inside and want another 5400.00 to replace the air handler. When questioned about this I was told this is common and not their responsibility because and I quote " I signed the contract" . So I called three other HVAC contractors all of which said they should have never done that and replacing everything was the only way to fix the situtation,two of which would not touch what they did and only quoted full replacement . Best advice find someone else ,it will cost you alot less in the long run. read more

Our experience with 20/20 has always been good; yesterday was no exception with our scheduled maintenance. We usually see Will (who is great) but he was unavailable so Brett handled the call. Brett was friendly, professional and did a thorough job of inspecting and testing our furnace. It was clear that he was running through all of the diagnostics and not taking short cuts. So 20/20 Air has a maintenance service for ductless units - the heating and cooling wall system with an outside condenser. For $179 they send a technician to skim over the units. The entire time spent looking over both units was less than 10 minutes. An that's with the tech taking his time. The tech, who was a nice guy, spent more time on paper work than on the a/c units. FYI, if there's nothing wrong with your unit, don't waste your money. For the service they provide, you can do it yourself and save $179, + tax, while you're at it. Terrible company to deal with. We bought two split units form them. One of the units did not cool at all. It took them one month to geth Lennox to give them permission to replace the unit. The other one worked for 2 years, and stoped working right after the warranty had expired. Nice timing eh?They came to repair it. they said it had a leak and neede 1 pound for Freon. tye charge $700 for that. After that experience I cancelled the service contract. Their pricing was competitive; they quoted pricing for 3 different manufacturers which was helpful. The installers came when they said they would and seem to have been competent - the unit has been working flawlessly for a month. We would recommend them. read more

This company is a scam. The technicians do not know what they are doing. Our furnace needed to be repaired after they came. They insisted on our paying for service and signing up for a year contract which charges us $50 a month. When I have tried to cancel, they will not let me. I have called and they say the request must be in writing, but when I sent a request, they said it never came. I am now going to the post office to send a request to cancel by certified mail in hopes that will do it. Stay away. read more

We had 20/20 Air come out to look at our unit. The technician told us we had a leak in our line and that it was in the walls and wanted us to tear down walls and ceilings to detect where the leak was. They then wanted to charge $1485 just to do a leak test before fixing any issue. He justified this leak test because when he placed his gauges on the unit, he said there was no pressure so all of our Freon had leaked out. We decided to get a second opinion and glad we did, because come to find out our TXV valve is no good and needs to be replaced and there is in fact no leak. The new company advised us on a recall on the valve itself as well. The technicians are not knowledgeable and should be more up to date on recalls and service bulletins put out by the manufacturers of the units. The tech was here for all of 20 minutes and gave us poor advise that would have cost a lot more money in the end. BTW to fix the issue is the same price as their diagnostic leak check. Tech was also so eager to get out of here that he left tools behind. Carelessness on his part. read more

My air conditioner was not working properly, they determined that it was a leak. I agreed to a product called "super seal" which took them all of 10min to put in and charged me $800. In a matter of days my system wasn't functioning properly. They said the next step was a $1700 repair to find the leak. at that point I got a second opinion and discovered that I had a faulty valve and indeed no leak!!! After the RIGHT diagnosis and repair my system has been working great. If I had stayed with 20/20 I'm afraid I would have spent THOUSANDS!!! This company is a scam so STAY AWAY! read more

20/20 Air Service serviced my air conditioner compressor. The issue was damage to wiring caused by mice. They said it was quite an extensive repair and also needed a new contactor (worn no damaged). Told me it would take a while and that the parts with the parts it would be $688. They also said they needed me to sign an authorization and give my credit card information. It turned out that the repair took about 20 minutes. Altogether he was at my house for an 1 1/4 hours. Later I looked up the parts on the internet to learn they cost about $25. When I complained they said they billed by a "flat rate" and on by the time or materials. I feel that they are cleverly perpetrating a scam on their clients. I gave one star for being on time. The problem i have is with what I was charged for a simple plumbing disconnect of a bathroom vanity that took 10 minutes to complete and then a reconnect a couple hours later after i had a new vanity top and sink installed. I needed the plumbing reconnected and a new faucet put in and i had provided all of the parts needed to do the job. Being charged over $800.00 is outrageous. I had the vanity/sink installer all lined up for that day and it being a 50th Birthday surprise present for my husband, in which the gentleman knew this. The only way I was going to get the job done that day was to agree to pay the amount requested. I paid less than this amount for the new granite vanity top with the new sink that included installation. Being charged over $800 for Labor only for a disconnect that took 10 minutes and a reconnect that took an hour is being taken advantage of. I called the office this morning and asked to speak to a manager or one of the owners and was told someone would call me back, which never happened.
