I hired HVAC Hunters for a refrigerant recharge. The technician told me, based on his professional…read moreexperience, that this recharge would get my system through the summer. I took him at his professional word and approved the work on that basis. It did not last 12 hours. The system stopped working the same day. Only afterward did I read the fine print on the invoice, which says the opposite of what I was told in person: that a recharge carries no guarantee of operation for any period of time and that the refrigerant may keep leaking. So I was sold a "summer" fix verbally, handed a disclaimer in writing, and left with a system that quit before the next morning. To make it worse, no one had the courtesy to call me and let me know the outcome of the conversation with their technician. Having managed large operations for years, I know there's a right way and a wrong way to do business: set honest expectations, stand behind what your technician promises, and communicate directly. None of that happened here. My advice, get every promise in writing before you approve any work, or better yet, call someone else.

At the end of summer I usually call them to have them remove it so I can close the window. Yet this time I was cheap and didn't call them to remove the unit. Gave it a deposit They did show up when they said they would they installed the units That's where it all went wrong We ended up having to change all the ductwork He had to get a piece fabricated to make it work He showed up one night with the piece to finish up the job mind you we would've still had problems The job was 14,000. I gave him an $8000 deposit which he asked for 10,000. He came back with the piece we needed and he wanted me to give him the balance that I owed him before he walked into the store to finish the job. Jason came to assess my situation, and during his careful inspection we agreed that my ancient wall-through AC sleeve was in dire need of change and updating. He sent a thoroughly professional two-man crew that did not stop working hard for the hours it took to rebuild my wall through sleeve and then install my new AC (and they hauled off the old AC.) Professional, great communicator, trustworthy work. The work wasn't easy, the units were quite heavy but no complaints by the professional and amiable two man team.
