Although I called him for a brake job, he took the time to follow up with me about a previous service he had rendered for me. I was happy to report that all was well and even happier to receive the news that he had brought assistance to for an even faster job for the brakes.

Power steering went out shortly after that and I haven't driving the car for two months. Took it to a trusted mechanic shop to diagnose again LAST WEEK and they confirmed it's the transmission that needs to be inspected by a transmission shop. I'll remove this review if the transmission shop confirms it's the ecu as well that needs to be replaced. (Response to owner) There's no issue I was waiting to confirm if the diagnoses given to me was correct to right my review. Forgive me for not remembering it was 125 exactly but , $125 for what auto zone does for free was my issue . I was expecting a real diagnosis by a mechanic to pin point the issue with accuracy and given a game plan not a simple computer diagnostic test that was for a code I already knew it had.

Not like other places that try and rush you in and out while making you feel like a number, or even try to pick your brain to see what they can try to get out of you. I was also told the part was unavailable at the nearby AutoZone (less than a mile away) and that it would take about 30 minutes for one to be delivered. More than an hour later, the part still hadn't arrived, so I decided to look it up myself. The most expensive version I found online was around $75. I asked the mechanic for the exact name of the part so I could verify it, but he couldn't even locate it in his system at first. After several minutes, he finally found it and said, "Looks like I got the last one." Still concerned, I called the AutoZone less than a mile away. They immediately told me they had the part in stock for $63.99. When the AutoZone driver eventually arrived at the shop, another employee accidentally handed me the receipt, which showed Kwik Kar had paid $75.20 for the part--not the $181 I had been quoted. I asked the mechanic why I had been quoted more than double the actual cost. His response was, "We have to make a profit." I understand businesses mark up parts, but charging well over 100% without any explanation felt excessive. When I asked him to show me where the quoted price came from, he couldn't. The manager then came outside and asked what I wanted. I simply said I wanted a fair price for the part. Instead of addressing my concern, he told me the mechanic no longer wanted to work on my vehicle. I asked them to put my car back together so I could leave. Thankfully, I inspected it before driving away. The mechanic had broken a piece off the radiator reservoir and left a hose disconnected. After I pointed it out, another mechanic repaired it, explained what had happened, and made sure everything was properly reconnected. I left, purchased the same part myself for $65, and had it installed elsewhere for $125. My total cost was only about $10 more than Kwik Kar wanted to charge for the part alone. My issue wasn't paying a reasonable markup--it was being quoted an inflated price, receiving inaccurate information about part availability, and then finding my vehicle damaged when I decided not to move forward. My interaction with them prompted another customer to ask questions about her parts and services. She said her inflated price cost her an extra $800! Unfortunately, they completed the work. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location.

I got referred to j&j automotive from my local mechanic because it was over his head. (And again; not looking forward to the expense) I had the car towed to seagoville after having it towed from Plano. J&j only charged $65 to do the diagnostic which I thought was reasonable. When the diagnostic was complete, the estimate was $1100. I was somewhat shocked. But at the same time, I knew it was coming. I was planning on who I wasn't going to get Xmas gifts for. Well after tearing it apart, they found the problem and it wasn't what was originally diagnosed. It actually was cheaper to fix than the estimate. Instead of fixing it and pocketing the extra, j&j actually put $350 back into my pocket. There is not a whole lot of places that would do that. My in-laws thank them because now I can buy them a Christmas present this year. My wife's bonus was exactly enough to cover the vehicles expenses. God is good. And so is j&j automotive. Thanks Ronnie and Caroline. They said,"we don't eat well, but we sleep real well!" Very well put. I will definitely use them again!
